What music has influenced and helped you in your writing? Maybe a song stands out as what your character went through in a certain thread, maybe a certain song helped you in the setting of a scene. What songs inspire(d) your writing?

My playlist:

- "Heavy Prey" by Lacey Sturm. This is Ashla's theme song right now. I was obsessed with this song when I first heard it, and I remember playing it while writing in the Eiskalt War.
- "Shattered" by The Letter Black. It's another song that inspired Ashla just after the Eiskalt War. It kinda reminded me that just because junk happened to her, she didn't have to turn evil. Now, with Hanuh around, she may not be evil afterall...
- Various songs by Jeff and Cassey Williams (RWBY) like "This Could Be the Day" and "I Burn" have set my mood for writing an energetic Kaida or Gwen.
- "Circlewinds" by Falling Up always reminds me of Raiaera and Concordia.
- "Going Under" and "Call Me When You're Sober" by Evanscence give me the perfect feel for writing Ashla.
- I came up with my idea for Amasa while listening to "The Hunter" by Flyleaf.
- Flyleaf's entire album "Memento Mori" gets me inspired!
- "World So Cold" by 12 Stones is what comes into my mind when I'm doing stuff with P.A.L.E.
- "Unbreakable" by Fireflight had me on a writing spree with Kaida!
- I had the song "Scream" by Thousand Foot Krutch playing when writing my solo "Permafrost."
- I remember writing SOMETHING to "Silent Screams" by Eowyn.

That's a lot....o.o
Hmm I really never given thought to it. It's been awhile since I RPG as you know..

I haven't been writing for Ray for too long, so this is mostly in regards to my other characters.
I did listen to Welcome to the Black Parade by MCR (http://youtu.be/kDWgsQhbaqU) while I wrote her character sheet though. Not sure if it made a significant impact, or if I just really like that song. xD

I drew a lot of inspiration from Superheros by The Script (http://youtu.be/WIm1GgfRz6M) for one of my characters. She really needed to find her inner strength, and the song is all about that.

I also really like the tone of some of some songs by Imagine Dragons. Demons (http://youtu.be/mWRsgZuwf_8) and Bleeding Out (http://youtu.be/gJEoxeW7JvQ) are both great.

A lot of music by twenty one pilots gets me pumped up to write too. Not really sure why, but I can leave their Vessel album playing the entire time I'm writing.

My writing isn't heavily inspired by a handful of songs. But if it were, you could mash together the discographies of Silversun Pickups and The Hives and be just fine.

Otherwise, I seek my inspiration from two online radio stations: Drive (http://www.driveradio.be/) and Arecibo Radio (http://areciboradio.com/). A mix of retro 80s-inspired synthwave and video game-influence metal and chiptunes never fails to put me in the mood to write.

Here's more:
- The 12 Stones album Potter's Field has stuck with me for how much I could relate to it at the time. There's various songs off the album that has inspired my more depressing stories.
- I heard the song "Ignorance" by Paramore on Pandora today, it has given me an idea on where to take Gwen storywise...
- Eowyn's "Burning Pages" always gets me in the mood to write something.
- Fireflight's "Action" is another anthem that can go with P.A.L.E.
- RED's another creative band that's given me various ideas. "Feed the Machine" and "Fight Inside" are two particular songs by them.
- Up until I could no longer listen to them because every time I try I get caught up in the feels that they broke up, Falling Up has given me soooooo much inspiration! The music and lyrics both bleed of creativity and passion. I also picked up some vocabulary only found in their songs, like "murexa."

Though on the second thought, when I do computer-related work/homework, I listen to more dubstep/electronic. Another would be "Deep Focus" on Spotify.

Post rock instrumental always sets the right tone for churning out posts, I've found. Bands like Mogwai, Explosions in the Sky, or Godspeed You Black Emperor have been the soundtrack to the majority of my writing.

I actually have two private playlists on YouTube, one for Ashla and one for Felicity. Here's some of the stuff featured on them:

- "Monster" by Paramore and "Weight of the World" by Evanescence are two songs that fit Ashla right now. Monster mostly.
- Felicity has two themes, "Bulletproof" by 12 Stones and "Monster" by Skillet. They each fit both sides of Felicity. "Through the Oppression of the Wicked" by Don't Wake Aislin is basically Felicity's backstory and how it affected her. "Better Luck Next Time" by The Letter Black is another Felicity song. also added the "Long Word" song to her playlist xD I also have a song that describes what their relationship will become (Felicity's POV) "Open Wounds" by Skillet.

I don't listen to music when I write, it distracts me and I don get anything done! Haha!

I have a lot of metal / rock roots in my writing playlist. Strangely, though, I find myself listening to game OST's more than anything when writing. My latest "favorite" is the Guilty Gear Xrd soundtrack and It Has To Be This Way from Metal Gear Rising, a game I have never actually played.

For actual bands I would go for:

In Flames
Metallica
Iron Maiden

Skie and Avery

Two songs that never fail to remind me of Avery:

You Rascal You - Hanni El Khatib (https://youtu.be/Dmfy_5nAH_U)

and

Desire - Meg Myers (https://youtu.be/bR5u9jb0PJE)

When I was writing the battle between Seth and Draug in the Serenti I had Electro Suite by Hans zimmer (https://youtu.be/7zYB1PLjKv0) playing in the background as I wrote the first on screen activation of the Wrath engine.

I feel you can play near enough anything from Hans Zimmer and write to it.

Funnily enough, I have the Last Samurai soundtrack album on itunes. Well worth a listen if you like a bit of the Hans mate.

The Revenant King by Visigoth was actually the song that inspired me to create Faust. That, and my undying fascination with Liches. Cough. Cough.
