I know we have a couple threads around for listing individual songs as characters' theme songs, or for inspiring songs, but this is different. This is for posting your writing playlists, for songs that work well together, go along a theme, or inform your writing with a particular character. I'll start with my new playlist for writing Alma Waterstone (pulled together on Spotify).

1. Take Me to Church - Hozier
2. Take Me to Church - Jasmine Thompson (cover)
3. Ghost - Ella Henderson
4. The Yes Medley - Happy Rhodes
5. Summer - Happy Rhodes
6. Bye Moon - Happy Rhodes
7. Prey of the Strange - Happy Rhodes
8. Stranger - Lili Haydn
9. Salome - Lili Haydn
10. Faithful One - Lili Haydn
11. Wants Deep - Lili Haydn
12. Kashmir - Lili Haydn (cover)
13. Bends Like a Willow - Jethro Tull
14. Cold Wind to Valhalla - Jethro Tull
15. Roots to Branches - Jethro Tull
16. Dangerous Veils - Jethro Tull
17. La Bell et le Bad Boy - MC Solaar
18. Solaar Pleure - MC Solaar
19. Agony in Her Body - Sage Francis
20. Broken Wings - Sage Francis
21. Black Sweatshirt - Sage Francis
22. Radioactive - Imagine Dragons
23. Infatuation - Flobots feat. Matt Morris
24. Smells Like Teen Spirit - Tori Amos (cover)
25. Father Lucifer - Tori Amos

Obviously, this is best put on Shuffle.

Veridia's entire EP is great to write to!

Also, RED's album "Innocence and Instincts," as well as any Flyleaf album. Sometimes Falling Up is great too.

Mage Hunter

Mage Hunter's entire playlist is things that remind me of soldiers and military and must be instrumental. Granted not all of these songs are such, but I feel they fit the flow and feel of Drusilia.

2:Heretic, Hero (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=i5jPy-GmyUc) - Halo 2 OST

I basically listen t everything as I write, though certain genres help me get into certain characters.

Rorton and Zack I write better listening to Wrestler theme songs (serious though, a lot of wrestler themes are freaking awesome).

Sei I tend to listen to Broadways or video game soundtracks to get into his mindset.

Tankita and Leona get Taylor Swift, Katy Perry, Miranda Lambert, pretty much any female musician witha few songs about female empowerment.

The rest is a mix of everything, from rap, country, pop, rock, parody, ect etc.

Overall I type best when listening to 'joke' songs though, such as the Epic Rap Battles of History, Hank Green, or Jonathan Coulton.

I don't usually listen to specific songs when writing - instead, I stream a radio show that fits the mood and buckle down. I've found a local community station, RTR FM, to be really good for this. Favourite shows include:

All City (http://rtrfm.com.au/shows/allcity/): generally some pretty good rap and hip-hop.

Ambient Zone (http://rtrfm.com.au/shows/ambientzone/): chill, non-intrusive ambient tunes for when you need something that won't distract you.

Burn the Airwaves (http://rtrfm.com.au/shows/burntheairwaves/): punk - something I'm just starting to listen to now, but like what I hear so far.

Golden Apples of the Sun (http://rtrfm.com.au/shows/goldenapples/): dreamy psych. One of the shows which has contributed to the station's nickname, 'Drugs FM'.

Rockin' the Roots (http://rtrfm.com.au/shows/roots/): good ol' folk, country-esque tunes and other roots music.

Spoonful of Blues (http://rtrfm.com.au/shows/spoonful/): gritty blues music, ranging way back to the early 1900s up to contemporary releases.

Sunday Morning Coming Down (http://rtrfm.com.au/shows/sundaymorning/): gentle, soothing numbers, carefully calibrated for those nursing a hangover the morning after a big night.
