So due to a recent in chat convo, I been thinking.

It has come to my attention there isn't any current standard gambling system for The Citadel ITSELF.

Tournaments and such already have an existing gambling system attached to them. Why not The Citadel as well? I think it would make for interesting discussion and also, if presented correctly could help bolster activity. Here's my idea we set up a basic a thread for gambling one, maybe two Gambling monitors (Staff monitors) to oversee the thread. So the format could be very simple. Let's say Jack and Jill are in a match together. The gamblers then bet on simple functions like who they think would win, the odds, etc. Keeping this as simple as possible. I've participated in gambling functions in the past on Althanas and I think it's a useful way to make a pretty good amount of gold. Have a pot or something for each match and give the match a window for the gambling. I think that would be the best way to do it. Or most effective anyway. Anyhow, what do you guys think? Let me know!

You could open a round of betting for a few days before the fight even starts, and then close betting once it does. With that method, you could either determine the odds based on the difference between the average score of the competitors, or based on the number of people betting for each person, to ensure the house at least breaks even. Alternatively, you could keep the betting open while the fight goes on. With that, however, you may want to adjust the odds based on each person's performance, lest people notice a large advantage in one writer's favor, and make ridiculous money because of unbalanced odds.

I approve of this idea, by the way. It needs to happen.

[Well, this obviously isn't going to happen.]
