Name: Ethel.
Age: Unknown.
Race: Cyborg.
Hair Color: What there is of it is sort of a soft, delicate black, which looks black in appropriate lighting. Lovely to touch.
Eye Color: N/A
Height: Roughly six feet eleven inches at the withers.
Weight: 875 lbs.
Appearance (in brief):
A conglomeration of assorted mechanical and organic parts, she is truly a sight to behold -- indeed, Ethel seems to exist in a state of perennial decay. The skull is...but a skull resembling that of an equine's, bleached and largely fleshless. Over the left socket a glaringly obvious mechanical device is perched, which serves as her sole source of visual perception. The iris of this device burns a pale white. As the exposed vertebrae recede, strings and bits of material, remnants of tendons and musculature it can be assumed, become more common, intermingling with cords, wires, and other devices designed to simulate that which has been removed. Her neck itself is an elegant arch, dangling the head as if a hand its lantern.

Spindly prongs of the animal's withers jut from perpetually glistening red protoplasm. The chest is deep, again displaying parts of her skeleton and innards -- the ribcage, the lungs, the still-beating heart -- along with assorted cybernetic implants. Forearms are as a great dog's, with four clawed toes. Akin to the spotted hyena of Earth, her spine dips into hind quarters which are substantially closer to the ground than the shoulder blades, ending in large paws with three digits. There is no tail.

(Then there is the young girl which sits, cradled by the interlocking mesh of ribs and meat. See 'Familiars').

History:
It can be pointed out that Ethel is, obviously, not an Althanas native. Her very nature is alien, as is the 60% or so of her body which is comprised of unidentifiable metal alloys. The fact that she is able to walk around skinned with a kid in her chest is vindicative of powerful magick, of a likes which she is unable to use but has been placed upon her.

Some time ago in a reality separate from our own, the daughter of a malicious warlord was abducted in an act of revenge. This child was called Ethel. Unbeknownst to her captors, Ethel was the accidental chalice for an energy source so bright and so potent as to be the downfall of her people. Yet as a young girl, she was ill equipped to handle that which had been endowed to her by forces unseen, and when the attempt was made on her life, all hell broke loose. The energy source manifested itself into a horrible weapon which effectively ripped a hole in the fabric of their universe.

Billions died, with more sure to follow as the tear grew steadily in dimension. Distraught and alone, Ethel's fears were answered by an ancient spirit who, seeing the destructive capability in the girl, decided to intervene and help best it could*. There was but one way to repair the damage, and this was a melding of spirit and child in preparation for a journey back in time. Ethel had no choice but to relinquish herself, her individuality.

The melding complete left them as one, with the sole duty to correct the errors of the past. But the temporal jump was hindered, (by whom it is unclear), and instead of emerging where she should have, Ethel was deposited somewhere entirely different.

Althanas.

The meddling in the jump effectively stripped Ethel of everything save the most basic of her powers and rendered her mortal, farther from her home than can scarcely be contemplated, with little hope of ever completing her task.

* The spirit was certainly an oddity, having led an extensive life before now. The cybernetic implants and the reason for it's nakedness shall be explained later through writing on the site, hopefully.

Skills:

Mechanic - Ethel's human self can serve as a mechanic, able to modify the very molecular structure of everyday items in order to repair the mechanical parts of her animal body. She is a novice at this so repairs are done slowly, incompetently, and often not at all. The animal body is thus quite clanky with a jarring gait and in need of a good tune-up.

Composition - The ability to create instrumental and vocal music out of 'nothing' and everything in order to wound, soothe, or please, or even just for the heck of it. This stems in part from Ethel the child's extensive education and love of music before the melding, and the spirit's own nondescript background and knowledge of such matters. At the moment, she is a novice with this ability, able to create soft whispers of sounds which may or may not give you a headache or elicit a sleepy yawn. As for creating music with no other purpose than to simply exist, Ethel can conjure short bursts which last for, at most, three minutes.

Magnum - Ethel's human self can slip in between the bone slabs of her prison and walk about freely, a 'vessel' if you will, leaving behind her animal body which then lapses into a vulnerable comatose state. This allows her more freedom and, frankly, gives her more of a chance to converse with people who would otherwise be either severely frightened, disturbed, or suspicious of her more grotesque form.

Fruit-Shooter - Derived from the death throwes of magickal chaos as they 'landed' in a watermelon patch, Ethel's human self will be able to shoot watermelons from her kneecaps as she gains more experience. For now, she can shoot at most five seeds a distance of about two feet, three if there's little wind resistance.

Swordplay - The human self is a novice with a rapier.

Then there's always the possibility of Ethel trampling her enemies or swiping at him with her claws, although in her current defunctional state this is unlikely.

Familiars:
A young girl who can't be any older than twelve is nestled within Ethel's prodigious chest cavity. She is pale and small, with shoulder-length chestnut hair, a black bow and wide blue eyes, dressed in a blue jumper with white polka-dots, white stockings, and a pair of simple black shoes. It is through this girl which Ethel speaks. She never ages, eats, drinks, or uses the restroom, and only sleeps when Ethel herself is resting. This girl can be viewed as an extension of the cyborg as they are, in essence, the same creature.
