Taste of Treason

Leona eyed me suspiciously. "Are you sure this mission is of the utmost importance?"
I nodded eagerly. "I fear my life may depend on it."
"You have much to learn still. I hate to see you take so much time away this soon."
"I'm afraid I must insist. There is something I have to attend to, and I can't say exactly how long it will take."
Leona sighed. "In at least half the timelines I see you wasting a great deal of time, but I will humor you this once. Please keep me updated on your return."
I smiled. In fact, the smile never once left my face as I packed my few meager belongings.
There was so much to do and so little time. How does one begin to search for something they've only encountered once, more years ago than they care to remember?
But it was a mission I was determined to succeed in.
Soon, I would once again taste the most wonderful chocolate cake known to man. Nothing would stop me in my goal.
