Rumor has it that once in every generation when the conditions were just right something miraculous would happen. When the seas of the world settle and all feels well, catastrophe calls. A perfect storm strikes with the power unlike any seen before. And on this day two lives would be changed forever… Or at least that was how that how it’s told.
It was high noon when Kira arrived at the citadel lobby with high hopes of making some much need coin. She would walk right up to the first monk she saw and ask them to arrange a fight for her. She would enter the arena and with the help of her faithful sword she would hope to be victorious in battle. The crowd would chant her name and she would be made a hero. All this and more would happen, she was just sure of it.
The high spirited lass waited until it was her turn in line to register for a fight. She held firm to her sword with her left hand after eyeing up the rest of the competition. She saw large, bulky, and outright nasty looking men standing all around her. She bit her lip until the man whom was registering before her stepped aside. She looked ahead and there was a young hansom man sitting behind a table who signaled her over.
“Yes, I would like to be placed in a match as soon as possible please.” She said with a smile to the monk. He returned her smile with his own and handed her a small sliver of parchment. This was used to describe what arena they would be placed in. She jotted down some basic notes and handed it back to the man. “That’s it then?” She asked.
“Yes, now it will be right through that door over there.” He said as he waved over towards the long corridor leading to the arenas. Kira happily headed in that direction ready to meet her combatant and show off to the crowd.

Kiyo, who had just signed up for his battle and was already walking through a tunnel into the stadium, was already growing bored. He takes out a cigarette, looks at it and sighs, “God, I hate that I need money.” He tosses the cigarette away. “I’m so tired of being bored.”
These rumors of the perfect storm could be fate. However, Kiyo didn’t believe in such things. To him legends and fate were just bedtime stories. Things that just seem boring, That is until he heard the screams of the crowd, something felt different, as though he was finally in the right place, right time. His blood rushed, and something happened that he only experienced in the heat of battle, he smiled.
He gripped his blades and ran out into the stadium, which for him seemed off character, but now, it seemed like he hardly knew himself anymore. As he ran out into the stadium the crowd cheers louder and his smile leaves him. He sees who is to be his opponent, a small girl, maybe about 21, although he would usually be disappointed, he knew that he had to take this one seriously.
He saw her, she seemed excited, she must have been feeling the same things he was, he cared not for the details of what she could do, all he wanted was for it to start. Minutes passed that felt like years, for a moment even the crowd went quiet, as though time stood still. “Let’s Go!!!” Kiyo yells as he draws his swords.

Kira marveled eyes wide at the excitement of the raging crowd as their cheering vibrated the arena floor. She looked up to the many faces all around her with matching excitement as she ran out into the middle of the large arena. The terrain of their particular arena was mostly a dusty field of sorts surrounded by a large circular barrier surrounding them. Broken boulders scattered the field that would make for good cover if needed and the spectators sat in seats decorating the entirety of the upper portion of the barrier.
She waved to the crowd and the turned to her competitor standing just opposite of her at the end of the arena. On him she could see two matching katana much like her own and she sighed. Another blade wielder meant another skilled opponent, yet there was something off about him. He seemed uncaring in his stance, like this was only a bore to him. Kira shrugged her observation off just as the boy announced himself and drew his sword.
The crowd seemed to like this as they grew even louder. Kira tightened her grip on her blade and squared up with the boy. “I guess there is no time for pleasantries then.” She said as he raised her blade. There was a slight smirk on her face as the two eyed each other. “Fine,” she said as he let out a slight laugh. “Let’s do it then.”
Then like the free spirit she was Kira leapt forward dashing at the boy. As she darted across the field with her blade behind her back she started to make long unnatural leaps and bounds. She being able to hop from boulder to boulder in a single step, clearing a ten foot gap as she floated through the air. Just as she was to make it within striking distance she faltered for a moment to watch her opponent’s first move thought she remained ready and vigilant.

With Kira’s first leap, Kiyo could feel the adrenaline begin to pump through his veins. The last time he felt like this, he had just started his training. He had long forgotten what it was like to feel this way. He felt his lips begin to move up into a smile, but he stopped himself, he couldn’t let her see how excited he was.
Kiyo watched as Kira gracefully leaped from stone to stone, learning what he could from that alone. He noticed how she moved without ease, as though it was the wind moving her, he suspected she was like him, an affinity swordsman. With that thought in mind, he officially became interested and as Kira landed on the second to last stone, Kiyo moved his hand from his katana to his chain.
Throughout the last couple of years, Kiyo had seen countless amounts of battles, not to mention his vigorous training with his master. Through all of this, he is able to generally predict how the beginning of a battle will go, he could see right through her false step within a millisecond of her landing.
When Kira stumbled, the crowd gasped, Kiyo however knew it was a trap but traps never bothered him. Right as she stumbled, Kiyo kicked her in the face, not allowing her to react, let alone watch his reaction. As she is falling down, Kiyo takes out his weight and chain, “Let’s have some fun.” Kiyo says, finally letting himself smile. “For now, I’ll only use this.”

Akira Mort, the daughter of a wealthy business man out of Radasanth, was no more comfortable in a hot bath as she was in battle. From an early age this you wisp of a girl was placed in basic combat training. With the help of her heritage as a wind elemental Kira quickly grew proficient at defending herself and in one on one duels.
The Wisp felt the boys cold boot as it swelled her cheek and sent her to the ground. She lost grip of her blade momentarily trying to fight the urge to block her face. But she, remembering her training, spring into action gripping her katana tightly as she allowed a gust of wind carry her down and away from the boy. Her long twisting white locks swirled with the winds as she rode them. She rode the current as it banked up and she was sent up into the air. She pranced around in the breeze, spinning and twirling as she went.
“That was a cheap shot!” she hesitantly yelled down at Kiyo. “But I guess that’s all I can expect from a child whom can’t even show me any respect and introduce himself.” She said mockingly as she hovered high over his head. All the while the crowd roared as she revealed her true power. She was a wind elemental, she was wind incarnate. The skies were her domain and she intended to use them. “So let’s try this again.” She started fight to be heard over the crowd. “My name is Akira Mort, I am the daughter of Lord Mort of Radasanth.” She said as he twisted her blade and cleared the glare from her blade. On it’s hilt was the symbol of her estate, and the symbol of one of the strongest houses of the land.”
Kira continued to float above the boy far enough out of reach of his blades at the moment; leaving her plenty of time to intercept any moves he would make. She waited to see what the boy would do, or how he was going to go about trying to take her on.
