Khungar

Name: Khungar
Age: 20
Race: Beastman
Hair Color: Dark Wood Brown
Eye Color: Black pupils and irises, yellowed edges
Height: 6'6"
Weight: 270 lbs.
Occupation: Shaman

Personality: Khungar is a rather timid, as far as beastmen go. This means he is still more aggressive than the average human, but the difference between him and his people only makes him feel more and more placid. He is rather self-concious of this short-coming. He's not mean or nasty like his people, but he doesn't see this as a character flaw. He is looking for acceptance, and has found his best for it in the hidden mage/monk guild of Tel'Han.

Appearance: Somewhat small for a Beastman, Khungar is still young and impatient for a growth spurt. He, like all Beastmen, seems, to a Human, to be a huge, hulking mass of muscle and rage, but among his own people, he is almost puny. His torso is covered in a fine, coarse fur, while his legs are covered in thick, shaggy hair. He has a short, thin tail that ends in a tuft of thick brown hair. His head is much larger than a human's, but a little bit small for a beast. His horns are only six inches in his 20th year, and have only a gentle slope to them, curving between upwards and outwards and away from his body. They are mostly white and ridged, though some yellowing has occurred near the bases, which are located at his temples. His teeth are yellow but sharp and mostly in line. He has a snout which extends several inches from his hairy face. His fingernails appear brittle and cracked and are unkempt and yellowing. His spine is mostly straight, though his large head gives his back a slight arch near the neck. To a human he seems immensely rigid and powerful, though most other beastmen could knock him about with ease.

History: Khungar was born among his pack as all Beastmen are, and was raised primarily by the pack shaman, and only secondly by his parents. The pack shaman could sense Khungar affinity for the magical arts upon birth, and tried to teach Khungar many magical skills, as well as his place in the pack.

"The shaman is an essential member of the pack, but we, like all beastmen, must obey the will of the Herd Master. The shaman is tool for him; a powerful tool, but a tool nonetheless."

As Khungar grew, he was intrigued by the shamanistic arts, and tried to learn as much as his master would teach him. While the other young beasts wrestled and butted heads, Khungar tried to reach out and alter nature, and also reached inside to alter himself. He was always relatively small for a beast, and he was often picked on for his lack of a desire to physically fight. This is where he developed his lack of confidence.

As he grew even older and began to learn just how powerful he could someday be, he started thinking more and more about how the shamans, not the Herd Master, should be running things. His master sensed this dangerous thinking and tried to quell it with physical beatings (as is customary among the Beastmen society), but the fire burned on within Khungar. Too timid to directly act upon his idea, but too convicted to just become another tool, he decided to carry out the most desperate plan he had ever conceived; he was going to leave the pack.

The first few months were hard. In the cold northern lands food was scarce, and Khungar relied heavily on his basic magic to protect him and keep him somewhat fed. He had a heavy wool coat which he wore to combat the cold, and he wandered. He had no real direction, but somehow ended up stumbling into a secluded community of shamans, though he learned them to be called mages, just like him! They populated the place, but better yet, they ran it. Khungar was thrilled by this idea, and even more thrilled when the non-prejudiced leaders accepted him into their ranks.

His happiness is only lessened by his inability to make friends. He spends much of his time focusing on his magics. His new teachers never hit him, and he found himself excelling in a rather unique type of magic. No master in the whole of Tel'Han knew the peculiar Pack Magic of Khungar's people, but such was their skill in their own field that they were able to provide Khungar with useful tips and tricks to improve his unique brand of magics.

Skills:

Unleash the Beast: Khungar is able to reach deep down within his being and unlock certain types of beasts from his soul. He adapts these animal’s traits as long as the spell is in effect, and his appearance sometimes warps to reflect the beast he has unleashed in a small way. He can’t grow wings, but can develop extra horns, spikes on his tail, different or bigger muscles, etc.

Summon Pack: Khungar is able to summon a few animals into existence (wolves, bears, bulls, etc.) to do his bidding. At his current skill level, his pull is not strong enough to pull the entire spirit of the beast into existence, and so the summoned only inflicts low damage and the spirit will vanish if it takes a small amount of damage.

Fire Creation: While at Tel’Han, Khungar’s thirst for knowledge has been sated by the tricky art of fire creation. By reaching deep within in his soul, Khungar is able to pull some of his own burning fire from his inner self out into existence. At his current level, the pull is not very effective, and he can only produce about a handful of flames at a time.
