View Full Version : A cold day in hell

Agiel

Name: Agiel

Nickname/Alias: The Icy Kiss of Death

Age: unknown

Race: Demon

Occupation: Deal-Maker/Keeper of Lost Souls

Personality: For as long as he could remember, and Agiel remembers everything, he has always enjoyed pain. Giving it, taking it, emotionally, or physical, it didn’t matter. To him there is only one other thing that even comes close to pain, and that is the joy he receives when he receives a soul. Being a deal maker is simple enough, you fulfill a request to a stupid mortal and you keep their soul, forever. To him, there is nothing more beautiful, than a soul. The stories they tell, tell him everything that he could ever want to know, make him feel anything he could want to feel, and teach him whatever he wanted to be taught. If there is one thing he is aiming for, it would be to collect every soul so he could know everything.

History: Agiel is a frost demon, mostly specializing in ice type abilities. For practically all eternity, Agiel has roamed the entire world. He's seen every country, witnessed every war. Craving more knowledge, hoping to find new lands, and adding on to his collection is what he does. What kind of secrets does he hold?

Hobbies: Classical music, bleeding, torture

Appearance: There are times when a mortal has no soul to give, or asks for too much in exchange for their soul. When that happens they can offer their life as well. Giving up their life and enter an eternal comatose state, which preserves them so Agiel may possess them whenever he likes. He calls the mortals in this situation his “Collection.” Due to this Agiel has many appearances, though he does prefer to posses older teenage males.

Skills:

Torture: For when he can't just talk the information out his victims, Agiel has spent many years torturing people and has become quite proficient at it.

Swordsmanship: Throughout his years, Agiel has refined a swordsmanship style for three different types of weapons. This style is unique only to him and unmatched by few.

Charismatic: Being a deal maker, Agiel can talk his way through just about anything, with reserve and charm.

Hand to hand: Having a brute like personality when fighting, has created Agiel's adaptive, unpredicatable, and unreadable, hand to hand combat.

Abilities:

Arma Voco: Meaning Summon Weapon, Agiel can summon 3 weapons of his choice: A broad sword, a Gladius, and a dagger. All of them are made of ice, but are as strong as iron. One cut to a mortals flesh will freeze that limb down to the bone, disabling its movement for one turn. Each weapon is valid through two cuts to the flesh per summon, and he can only summon two times per day.

Potentia: Meaning strength or power, by just saying this word Agiel's strength increases to twice that of the average man, able to smash through normal wood. Lasts until the body is tired.

Congletio: Meaning frostbite, this allows Agiel's blades to have a freezing affect when he cuts. Affecting only the limb he cut, freezing it down to the bone and disabling it's movement for one turn, and halving its movement for two movements. Can be used twice per summoned weapon.

Equipment/Weapons: Leather Bracers & leather gloves- He only wears these to give him some sort of defense while fighting swordsman or other such things to even out his hand to hand to their weapons.

Welcome!

Ok, so the weapon disappears after two cuts, meaning you can get a maximum of four cuts. I assume you intend for the weapons to be able to block without limit until the second cut?

Ideally I’d like to split this up into two abilities, summoning the weapons for three posts each and then the freezing damage. Otherwise this sits above the starting character. (See Masetro)

Potentia: Meaning strength or power, this is what the "demon strength" mentioned earlier. It makes him twice as strong as an average man, no matter the size of the body he is. this lasts only as long as long as the possessed body is still in perfect condition. I.e. if the body were to be missing an arm and have several bones broken, the body is "useless"

This should be fine, but can you tell me a bit more on how this strength manifests? You’ve also hinted greater than normal endurance, the character should still feel pain like normal and the associated struggle when wounded.

Maestro: Agiel shows his enemy, or whoever really, their deepest fears or regrets, or can make them feel pain without actually inflicting any. In a battle he can only torture their mind, causing great psychological damage for the rest of the fight. If it hits, the victim spends next turn suffering (can end with them coming out of the trance) This is cast with one finger and can be cast long distance, however that includes the chance of it being dodged. This can only be cast once per day.

This one is too strong for a starting character, even at one shot. I’d suggest locking it for the sword abilities.

Equipment/Weapons: Agiel’s Possessed bodies are always covered with a thin layer of clear ice, for a bit more protection. The ice is as strong as iron but weighs practically nothing. Besides the weapons that he summons, Agiel prefers to fight with his own hands, so he can feel their blood on his body. This is not an issue due to potentia, and his entire body covered with iron like ice. He practically is a weapon himself.

I can see why you have this down as equipment, but it had several benefits over normal armour. You say that it nearly ways nothing, that it cover’s the entire body and that he is ‘practically is a weapon’. As an ability I’d nerf this down quite a bit, as equipment it’s way too strong.

Equipment/Weapons: Agiel’s Possessed bodies are always covered with a thin layer of clear ice, for a bit more protection. The ice is as strong as iron but weighs as much as leather. Besides the weapons that he summons, Agiel prefers to fight with his own hands, so he can feel their blood on his body, and feel the pain that comes with fighting. Making himself feel as alive as a demon could feel. With the combination of potentia, and having his entire body covered with this ice, except for his feet, hands, knees, and his face, he can make up for his lack of weapons.

This is still going to be too strong. I priced up cost of buying something similar to this in the bazaar, and it's 675 gold. You can make this into an ability at a later time, but for now you’ll have to make do without. (you could switch this out for one of your current abilities, but it’ll have to have a number of strikes or length of time associated with it before breaking.)

Potentia: Meaning strength or power, by just saying this word Agiel's strength increases to twice that of the average man, able to punch holes in something as durable as a boulder. This lasts for four moves after he says the word. Can be used 3 times per day.

Ok, this is better in terms of defining the strength. The effect is a bit strong (a single person doesn’t get close to smashing a boulder with his fist). Can you change it to something like ‘smashing normal wood’? You don’t need to limit it in terms of four moves/three times a day. Just be aware that when he tires then it would make sense for his strength to wane.

Otherwise the other two abilities look good, thanks for your patience.
