Guys I need some support/thoughts and prayers.

I'm not one who gets overly religious or anything but lately I have been thinking about something.

Today I got the worst possible news I could ever hope to get...well just about the worst possible news.

I might have cancer.

Though they are not 100% sure on that yet. As some of you guys know I had a biopsy last Tuesday and the results came back from the lab today. I am positive for abnormal cells. They didn't use the SPECIFIC phrase of cancer cells JUST YET. So the next step for me is I will have to go under the knife for them to remove the whatever cells they are in my thyroid. I'm a little bit mentally worn out from this whole ordeal but I firmly believe I will be okay and I will be a cancer survivor. Right now I'm just down. It is something that's been bothering me since I had the biopsy. Anyway gang, I will need a lot of support and advice from you guys. It will be a very trying time ahead of me and I am hoping that things will be okay for me in the long term. As always guys your thoughts and prayers are always appreciated! I don't really care what (Insert religion) you believe in. The support is what counts.

Right now I just feel really alone. I might log on chat to talk with you guys for a while.

Anyway I wanted to make sure you guys knew all about it.

Prayers are with you brother. Doctors are pessimists and probably won't tell you this but the most common type of thyroid cancer is 97% curable due to the thyroids ability to absorb iodine (radioactive iodine is used in chemo). You'll be back on your feet in a few weeks. Maybe you'll look good bald ;)

Not all cancers are created equal AND it could also be a benign growth (aka a tumor). If the doctor's haven't called it cancer, it means they don't know. So they'll have to biopsy whatever it is. So there's that.

All the best mate! You'll get through it, but always remember that the Doctors look for the worst first, because the sooner it's cleared off the list the easier you'll be able to sleep.

So most of this will be caution more than anything. So do your best not to let it scare you. Either way, hope your not fretting to much and always happy to chat if you need it.

Hey everyone thank you for the kind words of encouragement!!!

It really warms my heart to know that people care about me.

I have to go in for a consultation tomorrow to my doctor's office and they will lay out the plan for me to figure out whats gonna happen next. So far I JUST know that I am positive for abnormal cells of whatever sort. I'll be able to keep you guys up to date as soon as I have more information they just got the lab results back this week. So I'll know more tomorrow. Once I have more information on hand I will keep everybody here up to date! Thanks a lot once again for the support guys! You guys are the best. I am around on Yahoo and AIM all the time and I got a facebook if any of you guys wanna talk!!!
