Interested to know how far you all go back?

I posted up before that I was away for a few weeks at the end of September as i'm getting married. After I posted, I realised that I have been writing in one form or another as Canen Darkflight and other alts ever since I was 15, in 2001. Even before the birth of Althanas.

I'm now 29 and nearly married, and im celebrating my 30th birthday next year in may. I'm still as passionate about it as I was when me and my friend Jon (Fallen Angel) and Dave (Raslin / Ayithe / Gnarl and Root) were sat in class dreaming up plots and characters at 15 years old. When Jon gave it up, I carried the Khaian plot on and it gave me some great inspiration.

So much has happened in my life since I left school but Althanas was the one constant, even if I was always on and off with it. When I look around the board I see names like Max Dirks, Storm Veritas, Artifex, Dissinger, Lye and so many more that have been around since I can remember.

And you know what? It's really, really nice. When I came back, I didn't expect many people to remember me but I got such a nice reception that it made me realise how tight-knit the rping community is.

Althanas is definitely more like a family, ha ha.

I joined Althanas in May of 2002 (Tshael's account name was metallicaangel, which is what I think most oldbies remember me as), but I was RPing before that via AOL and Yahoo chat rooms (like the community of Ayenee).

I joined sometime in 2002, can't remember the exact date. Been around the entire time since then, as MetalDrago primarily.

I came here in 2012, when my cousins (Hoytti, Black Shadow ((he was using another account)) invited me.

I joined officially I forgot the year that Interactive World first launched. I knew about Interactive Village from when it first launched and I remember Allrpg still.

I'm one of the old vets.

My first character (And now one of my alt's I currently use) was Lorenor. Some of you veteran players may remember me as that character. I currently mained my character Elthas and I intend to level him up all the way.

Cheer everybody.

Philomel

I only joined Althanas in 2013 (November) after the good Twitch told me of it.

Philomel, however is much older. Here is a brief history of her:

Philomel Ertz was a human philosopher in a book of mine from back in 2005 (ish), so when I was 13. She existed as a casual RP character from then until she developed somewhat into The Writer of Doubt.

The Writer of Doubt was a pseudonym based on my own personality in high school around 2008. My friends and I at school created our own universe which was (and is as it still exists) called SFD or the Society of the Forces of Darkness. We created characters for ourselves who had powers and their main goals were immortality and taking over the world. One of my friends and I started a series of short stories based on these characters, and mine from the start used the name Philomel. She was (is) an author who is associated with birdkind, can fly and has various distinctive magical powers all associated with books and writing.

Philomel as the Writer still exists, but it was around 2009/early 2010 that her the vampire came into being. This was during the time of Twilight (yes I was once a Twihard head). She was pretty much the same as the previous Philomel's - a thinker, creative genius and had a pet crow - except she drank blood and was a bit more goth than the others. She existed in the form of poems, short stories and some drawings.

Then in about 2011 (I think) Philomel the witch came in. I created her solely for the purpose of a Harry Potter based forum RP and she was a writer (surprise, surprise). She developed later with a different Harry Potter based RP that I ran into a professor at Hogwarts, teaching History of Magic and being awesome.

The came in the more sassy ones. First there was a rogue elf/drow/dragon born (she "evolved") in a D and D campaign who became an assassin. She was witty and sharp. Then I had her male counterpart who became known as Ash eventually in various other RPs, who furthered the idea of the sassy assassin. After a wee while I found Althanas, looked around for a unique race that had not been created yet and found fauns. I jumped at the opportunity, turned the assassin into a part time whore as well (that side itself actually developed from another character called Sophia who is involved with my current Writer of Doubt story) and I have what I have today :D

The main things through it are that Philomel has changed as I have changed. She is a part of me. Her name means Nightingale mostly because I love birds and I love the night. She was a vampire when I was down in my younger teenage years, and has changed here also. I am hugely happy to have had this side of her change and progress, especially as this Philomel has been formed not by me now but by all the great others here on this site.

A relative newby compared to a lot here, but plan on sticking around.

I believe it was late 2007 or early 2008 when I joined Althy as Elijah Morendale, and later on in '08 when I registered Maddy.

Madison had been a thing since 2005, when I was working on a 26-episode sci-fi radio drama series about bounty hunters looking to take down a megacorporation. She had a lot of the same personality traits that she does in her Althanas incarnaton, but significantly less scientific curiosity and no vine arms or bees or anything. ;)

I've actually only been a part of the Althanas community for about nine-ish months. I've loved every minute of it though.

Ray was created just for the site, as were Roman and Josette.

Since June of 2005 under angelicmalice, and then a few more accounts until I did Vorin post-crash. I have made so many characters, all of them absolutely dreadful, and all of them original to this board.

Well, I started up with another character around about 2012?

Sometime close to that.

And only a few months later, I made the bastard tiefling many know and love.

Fun fact: I never actually planned to make Aure as a character on here. I was in Chat at four in the morning once, and some of the veterans (Ebivoulya, Christoph and Andy, if I recall) were discussing a villainous thread idea. I decided to offer my services, and thus was darkness born into Althanas.

(So, you can blame those three for any mean thing I do to your characters in future.)

Oh god. I believe it is September of 2002. It's been a wild ride of on again off again with the site.

I joined in January 2007. Was off and on from about the end of '09 through the middle of '10, then I left. Came back at the end of June '14.

I'm actually quite surprised by how many are still about from the 2002-2008 era. At the same time its also good to see people are still joining up even today with fresh ideas. We really do have a great cross section of experienced vets and new blood.

I joined around August, 2012. Shadow is actually my i believe 8th alt before he became my main!

As Shin state's been on here pretty much from the beginning. Started Back on Allsquare and AllRPG, then move onto here.

Always been through phases on here though, so not consistently posting. Was known as Raslin Icewind for many many years(still use that as my main name online).

Obviously recently returned with this new account to do something new, but still have a few old accounts sitting around as well.

*Peeked at her profile and flashed her newbie card* Since February! Of this year. (2015) We found this site by clicking a hotlink from...I don't remember where. My husband and I both started RPing online over 8 years ago. I started with MSN/yahoo IM, and stumbled onto a site that had a fun little RP community. I've bounced around since, trying to find somewhere I was comfortable with, and we found y'all. Been here since, and I like it! Except when Arti makes me sacrifice cows and sheep. Do you know how messy that is to clean up after?!

Since 2002ish. I believe I was brought over here very near the beginning of the site, if not at the very beginning. I used to write at GUA, which was friendly and fun, but found too many really unreliable, half-assed nooby meta-gamers that would bunny your character and were obsessed with DragonBall-Z'ing their characters out.

Over here, in the beginning I remember Ebivoulya, Dissinger, Dirks, Ithermoss, Shyam, Leopold, Cyrus, and many more. Characters like Lorenor, Witchblade, Letho, MetalDrago, etc. also feel like "forever" presences since it's been over a decade now.

I really stopped when I left an office job for a sales / BD road job that pulled me out too often. Wife, two kids, and a house later, and I work out of my house most of the time. Hopefully I can write as prolifically now as I once did.

Been around since '05-'06. Registered Vampiric Angel, and made my first character, Anenfel Saendithas, a half-elf with a bright red scarf and a faerie companion. Though, my skill has always been with creating characters, not necessarily writing and growing them. After that I made, Bearded Gnome, a dwarf who was taller than he should have been; Farmboy, a regular - you guessed it - farm boy from just outside Radasanth; Shisui, a Naruto ninja clone; Jasker Lightfoot, here, a charming and incorrigible halfling thief who's in the trade for the gold just as much as the women; then, my most recent, Alden Brennan, a Half-Elf/Half-Halfling ranger from another world, with no memories of his past life, and had a wolfdog companion.

The worst part is, I've thought up at least 2-3 more characters I've wanted to make on here, but given my terrible track record, I've left them on the back burner.

But it has been a supreme pleasure to see the site grow and evolve, and watch all of the new aspiring writers enter the fray. I've never really felt like family here, or much accepted, but I've always held a special place in my heart for Althanas. Some of my favorite members, most notably Cyrus and Letho (who I also considered friends), aren't really around anymore, so it makes jumping back into the world that much more intimidating.

I always seem to get the writing itch in spurts, and I can never predict when it comes or goes. I'll figure it out eventually... hopefully. :P

I ran Althanas' predecessor forum (the IV others mentioned) as a snide and obnoxious teenager. I judged Althanas off and on through most of its history. I think these are my first posts in several years. Your email burst was effective, if you consider getting an old grump to post to be a worthy goal :)

I've joined first in June 22, 2014. Still can't believe that's more than a year ago.

If Althanas sticks around, I ain't going nowhere.

Since 2003 when greythanas, tanthanas, and the big Matt-Jess thing went down. Also that Jess-Ashley thing went down.

Yeah, a lot of things went down. I remember sometime in 2004 or 2005 taking a massive Hiatus that lasted until 2013, when I made an unexpected return. Took a few months, but I became a Moderator and eventually an Admin in an effort to revive Althanas to the site's previous activity of 30+ active at a time daily. So far, the highest I have seen is 20+ active at a time daily in early 2015.

Since then, I have waned away from the site in hopes others would take up parts of my mantle and am delighted to see that they have. Thus, my new goal is to promote activity while garnering a new age of fantasy inspired sci-fi to Althanas.

I play an assassin, Lichensith "Lye" Ulroke, who fits most of the common bad guy cliches. In the past, I was most commonly known as Forbidden Nine-Tails or FNT for short. I am also known as Alyssa Snow, a unique fantasy/sci fi hybrid character that won Third place in the Adventurer's Crown Tournament.

I am also one of Althanas' community artists and have completed pieces for several members. I enjoy creating avatars and helping people develop their characters.

You were FNT? I never knew. I remember you now!

Yup yup! The rather ambitious tyke that eventually played a big part in Unseen's PG: The Revenant (or something) and the Black Sails Armada. I didn't have too many achievements back then, but my art made me super rich. Plus, I think I moderated for a while. It's how I got to meet Jess and Matt on a personal level.

Unfortunately, I don't remember too many screen names from back then. :/

Rehtul Orlouge

MetalDrago back then. Up until around 2011 I still used that screen name and I'm starting to use him seriously again.

Ah yes! It wasn't one of the accounts I worked with in depth, but I do remember it!

Not surprised. I was fairly infamous at the time for being the touch of death to threads. I'd never quit a thread, but for some reason everyone else in it would.

Wasn't my fault. Okay, maybe being with a crazy woman was, but not the other thing.

And to answer the question, I was around when this place was one of many subforums on Allrpg. I was briefly a superstar character registration mod at the beginning of the new digs and then I retired. Now I haunt the place.

I know, I remember. I was on your side on both accounts. We talked over AIM and MSN until you disappeared because those two were too much. Rightfully so. They were irrational basket cases.

Too bad we can't get you to haunt this place more actively! Your macabre threads with Snow, Thursday, and Sunday were some of my favorite reads.
