Navtabs

A suggestion has been made to change the tabs above (hereinafter referred to as the navtabs) to make them more user friendly.

The suggestion was to change them to the following: Althanas, Play Now (or Forums), Guides (as a popup box to the Althanas General FAQ, the Character Registration Guide, the Content Submission Guide and the Archon's Vault Guide), Lore (with current popup options), Chats and Accounts (for those with linked accounts).

Before I do this, I was wondering what your thoughts on the matter are.

I definitely don't care for "play now." I prefer "forums," if we are changing anything. Honestly, I'm really happy with Portal and Althanas. It still provides a landing place (the portal), but it also shows that the heart of the site (Althanas itself) is located in the forums.

I like the Guides section though.

I honestly don't see any real reason to change them. I feel it's pretty clear as it is.

Granted long term users can be just, used to it, but it feels pretty clear to me. Besides which putting play now makes it sound like a computer game.

I'll be one hundred percent honest here, the only thing about this is having more links together, in a drop down menu for instance, would be easier as it centralizes part of my command line, and means I have fewer overall command lines that I have to remember. What these command lines looked like, were named, in the GUI isn't as important. So the general forma you are describing would make my life easier. Just my 10 cents, take it as you will

I do find it a little annoying that you have to press twice to get to the forum overview. But that's about it.

"Forums" instead of "Play Now!" and either "Althanas" or "Main Page" instead of what's now called "Portal."

I agree that "play now" doesn't sound right. If you want "Write now" might be okay, but "Forums" sounds better.

The "Portal" word is a little confusing, maybe another word for that?

Aside from that, depends if you want to change it. Currently I really like the set-up, especially with the "Lore".

Maybe instead of "Portal" or "Althanas," something like "Front Page," make it crystal clear

That would the wording I'd use for the individual links and dropdown names.

The only reason I think the Guides section is a good idea instead of Rules is as a newcomer, Rules would seem very authoritative versus Guides which gives a bit more of a "here is where you go for guidance and direction" feel to it. I also took into account the Portal name and think Home would work fine as existing members know it as the homepage, and since it is the homepage, Home works well even for newcomers. Forums instead of Play Now for the reasons listed in above posts.
