View Full Version : Kléma level 1

kléma
10-01-15, 09:24 AM
Name: Kléma
Nickname/Alias: Kléma
Age: newborn
Race: diety-dryad, demi-goddess
Height: changes, but usually 6ft
Weight: changes
Occupation: Avenger

Personality:

Kléma is more often than not angry or seductive. In her heart of hearts she is kind and sweet, once one gets to know her, but on the outside she is defensive. She is born out of fear and horror, and in doing so mainly treats others with what she refers to as "righteous anger". This is born out of the fury her mother holds as well as the lack of understanding she has towards other races.

History:

In the wake of recent happenings, mostly associated with the purification of the Red Forest, the goddess Drys began to become more interested in the world. Mostly she has seen what she describes as the "unnatural horrors" through her favourite, Philomel van der Aart. Being a minor tree-goddess who gave hedence to two minor races - the fauns and the earth spirits (at least as far as it is known) - Drys gave little interest to the wider world outside of Corone and races. That was, until Philomel began to travel. With that, Drys turned her attention to the things that are out of nature, mainly things such as dark magics, necromancy, the threat of Briarhearts, and the thing she finds most terrifying; Aleraran technology. Fearing an imbalance of nature Drys decided to first pour her magic into Philomel, using her as an unusual vessel for her biding, then into the earth-spirit Veridian, and finally into the dragon Delath. Finding this is not enough, Drys then set about finding further solutions to the problem.

She placed trust further in Philomel's brother, Leaf, though acting from a distance. She trusts in his goodness to lead him in many good places, and has been something of an omnisicent but distant guide than anything. Else, she began to wager interest into such people who worship other minor goddess, such as those who trust in the maiden Shivani. But still, Drys found this was not enough.

In the heat of fear, away from the other minor gods, Drys begun to spin a new spell. Singing a tune never before heard she decided to bless the earth with something beyond normality and beyond nature, and into a body poured her very being, her very essence and her lineage. In the north of what was once the Red Forest Drys made herself a daughter in the form of a dryad, but more than a dryad, calling her Kléma, the word in faunish for branch.

Appearance:

Kléma takes the form of a human, but one made of branches and leaves. Her eyes are slightly different colours - the left is an olive green while the right is hazel. Her curling hair is the colour of sage, and her fingers are knobbly. She changes height according to her company, having the ability to grow and shrink as she pleases, for she is made out of natural materials. Usually she stands at the height of 6ft though, and walks around naked for she does not understand the concept of clothes. Her "skin" is a type of thin wood that is hard and is the colour of birch wood. Her fingers are thin and knobbly, looking like twigs. Overall she can smooth out her appearance to make herself look more beautiful, but will always have a wood-like appearance. Think a pretty female version of Groot.

Skills:

Kléma needs no food. She lives entirely on sunlight, water and carbon dioxide.

Kléma cannot die. However, that does not mean to say she will not die in a battle. Essentially once she is dead she goes to a seeding form and will regrow from a foetus over a complex period of a week.

Kléma really knows nothing. She does not know how to cook, hold a good conversation or be courtly. She is like a child and can talk various languages.

Kléma is very good at seduction. It is not sure where this is from, but one guess is that Drys put it in her as part of her personality whilst thinking of a particular faun.

Abilities:

Wooden Flesh:- Being made entirely of branches and wood and leaves, Kléma has the ability to grow and shrink as she pleases. She can also change her appearance to look young or old, male or female, though prefers beyond anything a beautiful female form who is at 6ft. She can fashion a face from her "skin" which is a form of wood, making the wood as soft as possible to an almost flesh-like state. She usually walks around naked but does have the ability to grow clothes out of leaves and ivy, creating them as a mesh that will look similar to normal clothes apart from on close inspection.

Kléma has skin as tough as leather-strength armour. Every point of her skin is protected against anything that would otherwise get through it. Her hair can be cut off as can her softer eyes be gouged out and the random flecks of twigs and leaves that sprout from her are not as tough but her main body is.

Fireproof:- Because it is the most likely thing to harm her, Kléma has a protection against fire. This comes through her demi-goddess-hood. She can withstand some fire-based spells, in a way that follows: she can withstand up to three minor spells, with no pain or burning or fire, or the equivolent of one major spell. The minor spell after this one will then add pain and suffering but no fire, and thereafter any fire-based spells will have their normal effect.

Equipment/Weapons:

Kléma is able to grow any concievable weapon from her body in the form of iron-strength. At the moment, however, because she is literally newborn, she only really knows how to make a whip. So she has a single vine whip that grows out of her right hand and cannot be taken away.

Kléma also has natural armour the toughness of leather (see abilities)

Sorry for the delay.

Given Klema is made from wood, it might be more prudent to describe her strength in terms of wood. See here (http://www.althanas.com/world/showthread.php?26527-The-Bazaar-FAQ&p=220668&viewfull=1#post220668). On my interpretation, real world woods like oak (tier 1) are probably stronger than leather anyway.

Also, as written Fireproof is too powerful for level 1. Complete immunity to three major fire spells before feeling a singe and tolerable pain and a complete inability probably won't fly until at least level 5 or 6 (as a rough estimate). You can have immunity to minor spells, but more powerful spells can still arm and burn her to begin. How does that sound?

How is this for a revision of Fireproof?

Fireproof:- Because it is the most likely thing to harm her, Kléma has a protection against fire. This comes through her demi-goddess-hood. She can withstand most fire-based spells, in a way that follows: the fire literally cannot burn her, and though it will cause still a singe and tolerable pain, up to the fourth strike, then major incapacitating pain will follow it will not set fire to her. This is due to a form of natural spell granted by her mother.

In terms of her skin, what would you recommend, then, of the type of wood I should state? If, by your interpretation, Oak is harder than Leather than surely if I state that this will be beyond a level 1 character.

Better, but I still have an issue with the inability to burn at level 1. As you've written it, a level 16 character would still have to use their level 10 fire based ability 4 times to incapacitate Klema. That just doesn't work.

Keep in mind that the standard for "normal" on Althanas is a normal human. Wood is significantly stronger than skin (or leather) for most practical uses. Using oak alone, the tier 1 material, would put you at the upper limits of what is allowed at level 1. You're technically getting 2-3x durability & penetration protection by having wood over skin, if it helps to think of things as attributes.

Good enough now?
Fireproof:- Because it is the most likely thing to harm her, Kléma has a protection against fire. This comes through her demi-goddess-hood. She can withstand some fire-based spells, in a way that follows: she can withstand up to three minor spells, with no pain or burning or fire, or the equivolent of one major spell. The minor spell after this one will then add pain and suffering but no fire, and thereafter any fire-based spells will have their normal effect.

Note, her skin is a "form of" wood, and so is a new type of wood I have created - e.g. leather strength.
