A redheaded girl stroked a flame colored tiger cat on the head, finishing her pear. They were in a large set of bland, grey ruins. That was drenched in waters. Muddy waters. For one, both individuals were dirty and soaked. For another, they were the only colorful things here. Even the sky above, peeking through a marble ceiling, sported dull, grey clouds.

Felicity Knopsnider finished her puny breakfast and tossed the core of the fruit into a pool of brown water. Felicity's companion's ears perked up; the "domestic" cat leaped jumping over several boulders, its green eyes dilated in excitement. Felicity's hand flew onto the hilt of the flamberge hung on her back. Felicity could not understand the feline's excitement, but she had been told to keep alert for dangers. She slightly pulled at her sword, a small bit of curved blade peeking up.

When she saw who was walking through the entrance though, her eyes narrowed. She let go of the sword, the hilt crashing against its sheath. "Uh huh."

There, walking over the puddle of water at the entrance (she froze it with every step) was her mentor, Ashla Icebreaker.

Once on (almost) solid ground, a black haired woman stopped. She wore a red hood, a grey poncho, and sported black pants. Her boots, plated with steel armor, slightly sunk into the brown ground. She didn't seem to care. She held a satchel in one hand. Felicity was confused, but the cat just seemed happy to see his mistress - he was purring loudly.

As the cat jumped into her arms, she set the bag down on a collapsed wall, "I found some merchants out there, a mile or so down the line. I was able to get some real food."

A growing teenager, Felicity raced towards the bag instantly, moaning in satification at the simple smell of some hot chicken. Felicity shoved a massive bite into her mouth; caring less about her manners as she picked bone right out of her mouth. "Mmm!"

After swalling, she looked up at her master, who had tossed a rip at her cat and was also gorging a leg down. Felicity tore a smaller bite out of her's and spoke with food still in her mouth, "How much did dis cost?"

Her mentor shrugged, "Dunno. I took this when no one was looking."

Felicity, despite her hunger, spit her chicken out, "Waaaatt??"

Her mentor just tilted her head. Felicity swung her chicken leg like a sword at some invisible target, "VAT'S IWEGAW!

Her teacher rolled her eyes, "So what? I did it all the time when I was your age."

Felicity stammered, "B-b-b-bu-but-but-but - still!"

Her mentor shook her head, "Felicity, you know we're pretty much broke. What do you do when you don't have any money?"

Felicity threw her arms, "Uh, make more money!"

Her mentor just blinked, "Yeah. And that's why we're out here, in the middle of nowhere."

Felicity sat down with a huff, the flame headed halfing rolling her eyes, "Yeah. Icky, muddy, wet wetwands wand."

Her mentor finished her chicken and tossed the scraps to her cat, "Look, Felicity, I don't have enough energy to deal with you pestering my criminal records today, okay?"

Felicity was about to argue, but she did notice how tired her teacher looked. Her eyes were shaded, and her long hair was messier than usual. It was like she needed coffee - and she was never a coffee person.

Felicity just tore away at her food, "Yes, Ayweth..."

Ashla was indeed Ashla's name, but she prefered the alias "Ayleth." It was a desire just as strange as Felicity's lisp, but the redhead followed it to the letter - as when the name Ashla was used, feathers flew.

Ayleth watched her cat finish its meats too. She talked in a slightly slurred tone, "We have several more miles to trek before reaching our destination. Let's not waste any more day light."

Like there is day light today Felicity thought as she grabbed her pack, filled with the group's traveling supplies. Ayleth picked up her cat, giving him several affectionate strokes; then the small band headed to the swampy world outside.
