Gender- Male
Age- 20
Eyes- Blue
Hair- Dark Brown
Height / Weight- 5'8 / 159

Physical and Personality Characteristics
Character Appearance- Young yet innocent look, Taliel manages to pull off what many would refer to as a childish appearance. His eyes are large and blue, contrasting the silky brown hair that flows just over his eyebrows. Ruffled and messy, his hair could also be defined to have a slightly childish look. Since acquiring a bit of cash from his scrolls, Taliel purchased himself a beautiful new robe. The collar is adorned with feathers, and the gold trim around the rest of it makes the dark blue color of it truly stand out. Needless to say, he’s lost a few pounds from the minor ood deprivation. He has also gained an inch to his height. Thanks to a few journey’s he’s taken part in with his slayer friend, Taliel has gained a number of scars, and his skin is becoming a light brown from the large amount of sun he’s received. His satchel has also bulged a bit from a few new items he’s acquired. Besides that, nothing has changed with the exception of him having a late growth spurt.

Personality- Very open and outgoing, Taliel prides himself on being a friendly person. Many people seem to be attracted by his sensitive yet childish charm, while others find it more annoying then a bug bite in the center of your bag that you can’t reach. Sometimes frightened in more delicate situations, Taliel tries not too seem like too much of a coward. Since he first set out, Taliel has learned much about himself. He can sometimes be quite irritable when interrupted during scribing, and he also finds himself afraid of many things. Luckily for him, however, he met quite a few friends who helped him overcome his fears. Not that he’s completely over them, but he feels at least a little more confident in the world. With the help of his friend, Damon, Taliel has learned not to fear things as much, and to try new things whenever possible. He has also begun to develop a more in-depth understanding of magic and his ability to use it to his advantage.

Character History / Background
Profession- Spell Scribe

History- A boy about the age of 19, sat at a work desk, furiously copying notes from a large text. He had been at it for 12 hours straight, and was about three fourths down the page. Grinning with his progress and biting his tongue, he scribbled like mad. Behind him an old man with a long cloak stood. The old man made small nodding gestures at Taliel as he worked. Rubbing one eye, Taliel was forced back to work after a quick flick on the ear from his master. Finishing the last few sentences, he ripped the page up from the table and held it to the old man.

"Hmm...yes, yes...nice form...excellent, you've passed my final test! Congratulations my boy, I deem you a worthy spell scribe!" the old man exclaimed. Of course, had he noticed that Taliel was already sleeping, he might've cut the congratulations short. Grinning a bit and shaking his head, the old man, known as Rofien to others, picked him up and carried him to a little bed in the corner. Laying him down, Rofien was proud of his student. It was late, and he too was tired from watching the boy scribe. Taking the scroll up, he hadn't yet noticed its complexity. His eye twitched when he realized that this was better than even he could've done. Taliel had something special about him, and in these dark times, it could be either very useful or very harmful.

Moving across the room to place the scroll in a little drawer, Rofien sighed and looked at the newly proclaimed spell scribe. What is a spell scribe you might ask? It is one who can embed the powers of magic into scrolls so that even non-magic using beings can use some sort of spell. Rofien was one of the more famous scribes in the land. He lived in a lush forest known as the Forest of Elcarim. This little island-forest was on a far corner of the map, one that few ever dared to follow. Taliel had wound up there by chance, having his ship been destroyed and his parents lost. He drifted to the island, and perhaps by chance and perhaps by destiny, Rofien had found him and made him his apprentice. But now Taliel had learned all he needed to and was ready to venture out and help others in need.

Rofien collapsed into a rocking chair, exhausted. It was not long after he did this that there was a sharp rapping on the door. Raising a curious eyebrow, Rofien stood. Taking up his staff, he moved towards the door. Slowly opening, a dark figure stood in front of him. A Dark Savant. Rofien's eyes widened.

"No...No it can't be. Leave this place now, Dark One. I will not ask it again! You shouldn't have come here...leave!" Rofien almost yelled, but Taliel slept on peacefully. The being did nothing. Slowly its sword unsheathed. It was a devilish looking sword. Skulls decorated the hilt, and blood stains covered it. The being grabbed Rofien by the neck and drove his sword through his stomach. Pulling his sword back, he tossed Rofien's corpse aside and moved towards Taliel. Raising his sword as if to kill him, something stopped him. Jerking his head towards the door, the Savant quickly moved away and started into the forest.

The next morning Taliel woke to a frightful sight. His master lay on the ground, dead, surrounded by blood. Sobbing into his pillow, Taliel was alone. He had no choice now but to gather his master's supplies and head to the continent closest to there. Quickly grabbing a satchel, he filled it with empty books of parchment and many empty scrolls, as well as his magical quill that he had grown accustomed to using. He grabbed a few spell books full of inscriptions for use, and finally slid his master’s patchwork cloak over his shoulders. Sighing and bowing his head one last time to his master, he headed to the shore.

His master always kept a boat there for fishing, and Taliel decided he'd use this to reach a new land. Placing his belongings in it, the waves gently flapped up against the boat. It would be his first time leaving, and he was nervous. Hastily grabbing a few fruits from nearby trees, he knew that whatever killed his master could still be after him. So taking off, his adventure began.

(Level 1) After retreating to Althanas, Taliel made a short visit to the Peaceful Promenade. This was his first true interaction with Althanians, and it was a somewhat pleasant one. He met a particularly nice girl named Cirla, but after leaving her and a paladin he’d met named Zephyriah, he lost contact with them both. Traveling across Althanas and trying to peddle his goods was no easy task, as Taliel soon found he was pretty low on funds. Luckily, he was able to scribe a few spells, and after selling them, he made ends meet. Luckily for him, Taliel came upon a kind man named Damon. The slayer helped Taliel on countless occasions, but the one in particular was when the two had tried to deliver a child to Turlin.

Neither of them had expected the danger they would face, but once they had taken Hazar to Turlin, they were both glad that they’d taken part in such a monumental event. The boy may have been the savior of Raiaera. Taliel now plans to take some time off of traveling to study at the schools and in their vast libraries.

(Level 2) Taliel and Damon were off on another adventure as the boy they’d fought to protect, Hazar, had been kidnapped by a few mock-teachers. Chasing them far across Eluriand, they were accompanied by a bladesinger and a young sorceress who Taliel never really got to know. Even through the constant annoyance of the bladesinger, the group was able to track down the kidnappers (mostly from an ironic accident on Taliel’s part). When it came down to it, Taliel became a hero amongst the group when he stopped one of the teachers from making it away with Hazar. Pleased with himself and his group, the team began to head back to Turlin.

Taliel is currently participating in a makeshift scribing class at Turlin, and although he knows most of his craft, he is anxious to further his education. He was recently taken on a tour with Damon where the slayer was awarded the title of bladesinger. Taliel had the opportunity to have a say in such a matter, but after contemplating it, he decided it was best for Damon to make the decision himself.

After having lived in Raiaera for a few weeks, the scribe has grown accustomed to it, and he has even considered making a home there eventually. For now, however, he has no immediate plans for the future.

Character Arsenal
Weapons- Steel Rapier
Armor- Vlince cloak, Cloak of Hiding
Other items- Satchel filled with blank scrolls, a magical quill, Strength leaves, Scriber’s Handbook, History of the Istien University

Character Special Abilities / Spells

Scribe- Taliel has the unique ability to scribe very weak spells. As his knowledge progresses (he grows in levels), he has the ability to scribe more powerful spells. Taliel must use a portion of his own magic to scribe the scroll, leaving him weak. Scribes can take anywhere from a day to a week to complete, depending on the complexity. Previously, Taliel could only scribe two scrolls a thread. He can now scribe up to four scrolls per thread, since his ability to scribe and understand symbols has improved. After much practice and trials, Taliel has begun to understand more about his abilities and limitations as a scribe. He can now scribe a bit faster, allowing him to scribe five scrolls per thread. The spells are also stronger, now, allowing him to scribe up to a level two spell.

Minor Fencing Proficiency- After purchasing his rapier, Taliel knew little of how to use it. Fortunately, after partaking in his many adventures, he has taught himself at least how to stand in a mediocre fighting pose, and can deflect messy blows. He is far from being talented with the rapier, however.

Vocal Scribe- Thanks to the recent addition of his Scriber’s Handbook, Taliel may now simply say spells as opposed to having to write them. However, this takes up more energy then writing them, so it may only be used once per thread. The steps required to perform such a feat are as follows:

-Taliel must have COMPLETE concentration…the slightest bit of doubt may cause the spell to go awry
-Taliel must place his hands over the parchment while reading the incantation loudly and CLEARLY
-Any mishaps will cause the scroll to set itself on fire immediately
-If preformed correctly, the scroll must be allowed a ‘cool down’ time for ten minutes before activation

(Total number of scrolls per thread if both Scribe and Vocal Scribe are used= 6)
