Rosie

A cloud of smoke exited his mouth as Rosie stared down a man who seemed so familiar to her. It was something about his shaggy hair and grouchy demeanor that just brought back a certain censored discussion shared between her and Alyssa. Rosie brought a quick hand to the frames of her red glasses and adjusted the glare from the torch light. In the dimly lit passenger quarters of the spacious ‘Gilded Voyager’ there were a hand full of people sitting along the benches lining its walls. Everyone seemed to be keeping to themselves mostly other than a small family all sitting together in prayer at the end of the room. The overall feel of the room would put most to sleep, which I guess would be the idea on a boat charter.
As she studied the man who looked to be incredibly focused on the faint flicker of burning tobacco in his pipe she thought to herself, what would be the odds of running into him? She wasn’t sure, and didn’t really care that much to make a fool of herself introducing herself to someone who may not even be who she thinks he is. So she let it go for the time being and returned to her book opened in her lap.
She smiled as she caught the eye of her faithful friend nesting in the folds of her red coat. Lucius the mouse didn’t smile back, because he was a mouse. But she knew he was on the inside, literally… They shared a special bond, she could read his mind. Rosie was a telepath, among other things, and even animals were capable of thought. They didn’t say much but it was easy to tell when they were happy.
Looking past her little mouse friend she perused the page until she found the line she was reading before she got distracted by her fellow passenger. Once she put her finger on the specific passage she almost instantly got lost in the words.
Rosie was traveling to the neighboring continent of Keribas, more specifically to a small fishing village along the Dehlosian coast. She was fallowing up on a lead on one of the lost tome regarding the Eternal Tap. Supposable there was a man waiting to meet her in town when she is to arrive. It was a little shady when she simply received a letter from an unknown messenger asking her if she would want to make an offer on the tome. But with the gentle encouragement from Alyssa to step out of her comfort zone and to rely on gifts for protection she booked the first ship crossing. She was ready to finally collect one of the four fabled tomes supposable used have instructions on how to control magic’s heart. And there wasn’t anything in this world that could stop her. Not rain nor sleet or snow could stop this young book worm from finding the next great read.
Everyone had been on the boat for a long four or five hours by now and restlessness had already begun to set in. It didn’t help that seas were bearing their teeth at the crew of the vessel, slamming wave after wave into the side of the ship. There was a bit of water leaking in through the roof and a few creeks echoed from the walls but this wasn’t anything new. The seas of the north were known for their roughness and unforgiving nature to those who travers them.
