Personality: Alvar's personality can vary depending on his needs at the time. He will generally align his behavior with his projected appearance, to the best of his ability. His natural demeanor leans toward stoic-but-playful, as he enjoys dropping hints to his true nature, making thinly veiled threats, and unnerving others. If Alvar has a desire that requires the aid of someone, he will avoid such play.
Appearance
Alvar presents in various forms based on his needs. A description of this power is in the appropriate section. A description of a few of his frequent forms is below, for simplicity's sake.
Lich: A rotting corpse. Several areas of flesh remain, but his extremities are mostly exposed bone. His eyes are generally represented by glowing orbs whose color can change. Alvar wears a tattered purple robe permeated by dirt.
Human: A broad white man with a clean-shaven, square jaw and black hair slicked to one side, over blue eyes. He wears a black robe over a grey tunic, black leather belt and fine slacks to match.
Elf: Long golden hair and similarly-colored eyes, pale pink skin and high ears. In this form, Alvar wears elegant blue robing over a darker shirt and black pants.
History
Alvar remembers little of his existence before becoming an undead creature. He is not aware of his age or where he was born, nor what his family was like. He knows that he played a role in the Day of Untold Agony, and personally witnessed Xem'zund with his own eyes several times. Alvar is not aware whether or not becoming a lich was a decision he made, nor does he remember the ritual he had to go through to do so.
Since then has existed as a lich, immortal so long as his phylactery remains secure. However, he does not know where it lays. His current need is to locate and secure it. He recalls that the item is in the form of a human skull with gems embedded within it.
Skills
Magical Awareness: Alvar has a sense for nearby magical items and other enchantments. He cannot deduce exactly what they are unless he is already familiar with the spell, or a spell very similar to it, but it can help him locate something within a reasonable range.
Immortality: Alvar cannot be killed in the traditional sense unless his phylactery is destroyed. While he will appear to 'die' as a normal person might, he will eventually be reconstituted near the area where he was killed. This generally takes a full day, but can take longer depending on what is left of his remains. Alvar doesn't die if his phylactery is destroyed - the object exists to resurrect him. He would have to be killed after it is destroyed. Alvar can create a replacement phylactery which takes several days, however he cannot replace one which is already intact.
Durability: Alvar's skeleton is stronger than that of a normal human, and he cannot be pummeled into dust as easily. His bones are about twice as durable as those of a normal human male.
Strength (Lich only): Alvar is stronger than most humans, and would have a slight edge over a human in peak physical condition - not accounting for those with enhanced power.
Spells and Abilties
Glamour: This spell allows Alvar to adopt an appearance of his choosing in order to blend in with the living. He cannot adapt his weight or height, add limbs, or anything of the sort. Casting this spell takes around a minute, but Alvar is required to return to his base appearance before adopting another disguise - he cannot go from glamour to glamour. Maintaining this spell takes away from the Lich's overall pool of power and dilutes his spells, preventing him from using his magic to its utmost degree; if he pushes too far, the glamour will fail and revert him to his natural form.
People sensitive to magic would be able to sense that Alvar has an enchantment about him, but may not be able to deduce exactly what it is. This spell can be disenchanted or seen through by those with appropriate abilities.
Absorb: Alvar is capable of consuming magic by draining it out of enchanted items or locations rich in magical power. This only works on player-owned items if it's been approved by the owner. Absorbing in this manner does nothing for Alvar's short term magical ability and only makes him more powerful in the long term.
Spells - General
Prestidigitation: Alvar is able to create cantrips and perform small feats with magic, none of which are capable of dealing any damage whatsoever. Unlimited use.
Stifle: A confusion spell which muddles the target, primarily used to counter other spellcasters or slow momentum. The target feels dizzy and disoriented, occasionally leading to a severe headache depending on the recipient's constitution. Can be used twice a day.
Desertion: On creatures of below average intelligence, Alvar can use this spell to sway their allegiance to him. On creatures such as a goblin, this enchantment will last for several posts - on a drunk human NPC, this may only last for one post. This affect can vary wildly, so a drunk human may take Alvar's side in an argument or pick a fight on his behalf. This can be used once per day.
Stoneskin: A shield which protects against three weak attacks (punches with normal human strength), two medium attacks (sword slashes from an average human man), or one strong attack (gunshot, sword slash from from humans who have higher than above average strength). Can be used once a day.
Acid: Alvar can perform five acid-based magical spells per day which can manifest in various forms. This includes but is not limited to: creating projectiles of acid, coating an ally's weapon with an acidic enchantment, or making acid seep out of his hands. These spells cannot be created away from Alvar's physical form (he can't spawn acid inside of a character's head, for instance).
Cold: Alvar can perform five cold-based magical spells per day which can manifest in various forms. He can chill an area to make it uncomfortably cold, create a limited amount of ice, and more. Alvar is capable of creating greater feats of cold magic to expend more than one use, for instance creating a hailstorm in a limited area at the expense of two or three 'charges'.
Fire: Alvar can perform five fire-based magical spells per day which can manifest in various forms. He can throw fireballs, set an ally's weapon ablaze, and more. Alvar is capable of creating greater feats of fire magic to expend more than one use, for instance creating a swirling vortex of fire in a limited area at the expense of two or three 'charges'.
Force: Alvar can summon force to attack opponents. At its absolute strongest, this is as powerful as an average man's punch. Alvar can do this indefinitely, but needs a few seconds between each strike, and needs to mimic the actual attack with his physical form before it occurs.
Spells - Lich
These abilities can only be used when Alvar is in his natural, undead form. Alvar has access to his general spells while in this form as well.
Disease Cloud: Alvar manifests a cloud, thirty feet in diameter, to fill an area. Those who ingest the cloud's air might become dizzy or begin vomiting, and could break out in sores or painful cysts. The cloud can last for several minutes in quests, but lasts for one post in battle. Can be cast once per day.
Fly Storm: One hundred horseflies are spawned which encircle and attack a target of Alvar's choosing. Their bites are painful and leave an irritating itch. They disappear after one round of posts. Can be cast once per day.
Pus Pool: Alvar manifests a pool of pus which replaces the ground in a 20 foot diameter circle. This takes a moment to occur, giving opponents time to move out of the way, but the pus is near boiling-hot and can infect targets with a sickness that causes them to violently cough. Can be cast once per day.
Fade: Alvar can become incorporeal twice per day. In this state he cannot be physically harmed, but also cannot cast additional spells or move any quicker than normal, nor cause damage to others by any means. This lasts for a maximum of five minutes.
