History

“Several leagues south of Archen lies Ursten, a modest town in the heart of Salvar. It stands, protected by a palisade crafted with age-old softwood threatening to cave in, thanks to the elements of time. Surrounding the town is a stretch of forest, deep green conifers of which murderous beasts hide underneath. It is told that the town once had an insane alderman, who was its last as well--for it now sits abandoned -- vines, rhizomes, and dust overgrowing everything behind the stakes.

The alderman, senses ruined by insanity, went on a killing-spree by ordering his guards to murder every peasant they held in sight; be it man, woman, or even child. Ursten had always been filled with peasants, and other than the tyrannical aristocracy, the farming plebs were its only inhabitants. And so the night passed, yet a night which felt like a year of dismay: men beaten to their death, children murdered in cold-blood, and women ... were raped--then murdered.

One man, among the aristocracy, protested and sent for the near-by council of Archen to inform them of the alderman’s deeds. The nation then torn by civil war, either nothing was done to stop the killing, or the letter had simply never reached the city.

Many a peasant’s blood was spilled, covering Ursten in a deep red hue that would ever remain a bitterly distant memory in the man’s mind. The sane aristocrat knew that the alderman's higher-ups would never respond, and thus he had to act -- to dirty his own hands and bloody his own dagger. On the night after, the alderman was murdered in his sleep. The murderer was soon identified, captured, and sentenced to death.

His wife, also an aristocrat, was imprisoned in the fetid dungeon of the alderman’s castle. She had been carrying a child. And shortly thereafter the child was born, in that very same fetid dungeon she’d spent a day and two nights in, minutes before her death.

I was that child.”

Appearance

Brown, wavy hair is pulled back to reveal the pale, stern face. Amber eyes the color of sand, set asymmetrically within their sockets, watch anxiously over a nation its owner has sought solace in for so long. In the midst of an intrepid clash against a murderous beast, its claw would leave a mark reaching from just above the right eye, running down to end at the cheekbone. A scar that leaves a stinging memory of the misfortunes found aplenty in its owner’s autobiography.

The face of Anubis of Skavia, a true friend among people not of his own race.

As an itinerant warrior and a hired gun, Anubis dons a dark jerkin atop a long-sleeved shirt, gauntlets pulled in and tied firmly at the elbows. His leather moccasins, poor against all forms of metal, make up for their modest quality by deadening his footfall. Whether or not he’s seen with the usual black cloak is contingent on the weather. His sword, no matter what material, is carried on the back--rather than at the side, lying in its leather scabbard next to a versatile weapon-of-choice.

Personality

Self-centered and tentative, Anubis is a stubborn combatant hailing from the harsh backwoods of Salvar. He knows no acquaintance, but only friends and foes. He is but a youth which patience is one of the many traits that defy him. He is by nature a loner and an outcast, with a ruthless streak to him that makes him extremely dangerous when provoked.

Only fools that squander his time face his wrath.

Anubis is also extremely adept at allaying intense and at times, bleak situations in his life. He is, simply, a man who would much sooner have everyone return home than draw their swords. The Salvarian, in addition, is known for his vicious loyalty to his friends--and in turn, his vicious barbarism to his foes, thanks to his bitter Salvarian background.

Skills

Swordsmanship: Anubis has mastered his skills with the sword, allowing him to handle one with graceful aptitude.

Horsemanship: In a saddle since boyhood, the Salvarian’s abilities on a mount now match an equestrian’s, which he could combine with his swordplay skills to slay his foes whilst on horseback.

Abilities

Agility: Anubis ability to physical situations increases twice the average agility capacity. Agility bonus can passively be activated at will. It takes approximately two turns after the Agility bonus has been activated to reactivate again. Agility requires concentration. The bonus to Agility is only active for about two-three turns.

Fire Resistance: Through practice and will, Anubis has developed what most would call a form of resistance (7%) to sorcerous and natural fire. Although still flammable, it takes longer to burn him than any ordinary human.

Chain of Flames: Very recently turned a magic-wielder, the Salvarian can summon a fiery chain that, upon impact, can inflict first-degree burns. The chain lasts a minute of in-character time, and will dissipate if Anubis is attacked and/or disturbed unawares. This ability, if properly prepared, can be used up to three times a day.

Fez,

Two out of three of your abilities are fine.

Your resistance ability needs to be confined to a single element, for now. Each resistance counts as one separate ability. Fix this and you can be approved.

Can you specify what exactly the resistance does (beyond percentages), for instance, does it take longed to burn him, or does he not feel uncomfortable due to heat, etc.
