What is the minimum word count needed to get a thread judged?

There is no minimum, but you won't make as much in terms of exp and gp for one or two post threads.

500 words roughly for a post to count as 1 post. That's what I was told last time I posted a thread with 250-300 word posts. So get them words in, or a 10 post thread could count as a 4 post and not 10

500 words may be a good point of reference for scoring, but I would stress quality over quantity. If you have said what you wanted to say in 250, 400, or 2,000 words (see: Hyperion, Flames of), then I suggest you move on. Over time your levels will take care of themselves if you are having fun.

Kitsune, howdy. I want you (and everyone else) to look at the highlighted bit of Storm's post above. This is THE most important aspect of anything you do on the site. Sometimes this gets forgotten in the midst of trying to comply with word counts and rubric.

As a sort of unwritten rule of thumb, most threads tend to be ten posts long at least. However, it doesn't matter. Just have fun. Write what you feel comfortable with writing. The judgment will tell you what is good and where you can improve, and from there just breathe in the advice and carry it forward.

Welp, I have been out for some time loligagging with the lolipop guild (giggity), but the old rules used to be 5,000 words or ten posts qualifies as the minimum for a "complete thread". Given we now have No Judgement submissions, I'd say that the rule is more of a... guideline...

Thank you all, I just wanted to see how far it was needed to have an actual judgment so that I don't send my story in for a full rubric and it ends up being a no judgement, that's all. Also, Storm and SVO, I enjoy writing my stories a lot, if I didn't I wouldn't have written much at all. If this seemed like I was going to start hating my story then I'm sorry for worring you.

Not at all! I think we just wanted to put emphasis on making sure you enjoy the work you do and not worry too much about getting bogged down in all of the nitty gritty details. If you ever want someone to write with or just some general advice, tap me up. :)
