The 2016 Osiris Open Tournament

On the most recent edition of the Britcast I announced that I would be hosting and running a one-on-one tournament in the Citadel for the members. I'm looking to get this running from the 1st July 2016.

The rules are as follows:

- There will be an initial entry fee of 50gp per member. The sum of the fees, plus 600gp from my own funds and GP rewards forfeited by each loser, will make up the prize fund to be split between first (70%), second (20%) and third (10%).

- The initial total pot for the tournament is 1150 GP, rising with each round!

- Entrants' abilities will be locked at the level they enter at, and only one character per user will be allowed (no alts)

- There will be a maximum of twelve contenders and battles will be fought in knockout format.

- The arena for each fight will be set by a judge.

- There will be no posting time limits.

- Each round will last two weeks, with one week for judging. The final round will be a three way brawl!

There has been a slight update to the rules.

After discussions with the admin department on how best to reward the contestants using an unofficial rubric, it has been decided that rewards will work as follows:

- Threads will be judged in accordance with the Osiris Open rubric. Rewards will be issued in accordance with workshop rules for both contestants (i.e EXP and GP rewarded as if each person had scored 65).

- The loser in each battle will have their GP reward instead go towards the final prize fund. This is made up for by the amount of EXP you gain as above, which in most cases will be much more than a loser would normally get.

The Story section of the rubric will be replaced by a special section dedicated to the battle itself; Combat.

Combat will consist of three catagories:

- Strategy: How good were your tactics? How well did you utilise your grey matter to overcome your opponent?

- Resourcefulness: How well did you use your abilities and the components of your arena?

- Execution: Did your chosen approach work? Did you land and take hits? Points here for the ultimate culmination of your efforts, and bonus points for conceding or inflicting an in-character defeat with style.

The first round of the Osiris Open will open for posting at midnight EST on 1st June and will close on the 14th June! I'll set up the threads and arenas later.

I forgot to mention that the second round matches will be decided by random selections again to keep everything fair, once the first round is out of the way!

I think it's a pretty fair set of rules considering this isn't site sponsored, but if there are any issues please let me know.

No. The fights are still actually in the Citadel, our glorious leader Max Dirks just didn't physically want the threads in the Citadel forum as that would imply we were using official Althanas rubric. They were moved to Corone because, at least geographically with the Citadel being there, the threads would make some sort of sense location wise.

That's the beauty of the rewards for this tournament. Due to the way the admins wanted us to do this, we are judging it as if both contestants scored 65. Usually the loser would get reduced exp but not on this case. Instead the loser simply forfeits their battle reward GP to the pot.

You can have a great battle and enjoy some decent EXP out of it too. I'm looking forward to seeing what you can do mate :)

Hey guys. Sorry I didn't get the arena up in time for the 1st August. Time has been an abstract concept for me these last few weeks and this weekend has been super busy.

I'll get something up soon, probably by Wednesday to make sure that the arena is well thought through.

As there are three of you in the final, i'm going to set the time limit to three weeks with a week for judging. This should allow time for a proper conclusion.

The final will commence on Wednesday 3rd August and will close on 24th August!
