Name: Lioran Aranthir
Age: 25
Race: Fae (Wood Aspect)
Hair Color: Dark Green
Eye Color: Mahogany Brown
Height: 6'3”
Weight: 137 lbs.
Occupation: Explorer/Cartographer

Personality: Lioran is a creature of extremes. His emotions govern him to a severe degree. He is not merely happy- he is elated, overjoyed, enthusiastic. When he has cause to feel sorrow, though, it can be crippling. All of his feelings are similarly exacerbated, which can be difficult for others to understand, never mind deal with.

He is friendly by nature, and fairly trusting. Time spent among the criminal culture of Scara Brae has taught him that he should be at least somewhat suspect of strangers, but his natural inclination is to regard others as potential allies rather than potential hindrances.

He has a profound sense of wanderlust and has a hard time keeping still. He's given to pacing and idly twirling his staff and often doesn't even realize that he's doing it until someone remarks. He is quite curious, and that curiosity is usually directed at the customs and stories of other races. He's the kind of person that will happily listen to anyone about just about anything, because most non-Fae prove fascinating (if sometimes quaint) to him.

Appearance: Having been born and spent most of his life within the bounds of Donnalaich, Lioran appears quite human... at least, from a distance.

What at first seemed a shaggy mop of hair reveals itself upon closer inspection to be a mix of moss and leaves. His pallid skin is tinged faintly green, and darker green veins are apparent beneath it. Were he human, his features would be judged boyish by most; those who encounter him (and measure by human standards) often assume he is several years younger than he actually is. His eyes seem merely brown, but close inspection reveals that the irises are patterned in such a way as to resemble smooth, finished hardwood.

Lioran is tall and thin- willowy to the point of seeming delicate. His limbs and fingers are long and slender, and he moves with natural grace reminiscent of boughs being stirred by wind. Lichen sprouts along his forearms in thin lines, giving the appearance of gray-green sigils etched along them up to his elbows.

His customary garb is simple and composed only of natural, plant-derived materials. He favors shades of green, gray, and brown, and prefers to wear as little as possible depending upon the climate.

History: Lioran was born in Donnalaich, along with his twin brother, Silvas. Their mother and father, Everra and Hollin, were both religious leaders, and bearing twins into the world was considered a sign of their spiritual evolution, enhancing their reputations amongst the other Fae. The particular cult that they were part of believed that the growth of the soul involved cyclical periods relating to the four seasons, and that the season one was born during reflected the start of their spiritual journey.

The twins were born in Spring, naturally associated with growth, learning, and discovery. As such, they were very much nurtured and encouraged to explore their roles within Fae society without much restriction. Like all fae twins, they were contrasting and complimentary. Others often commented that Silvas, who was born first, resembled Spring at its nearest to Winter, while Lioran mas more like Spring verging upon Summer. Silvas was colder, more logical, reserved and introverted. Lioran was warm, driven by his emotions, gregarious, and given to action. Together they made quite the team, with Silvas forming plans and Lioran carrying them out.

Lioran was not as studious or devoted as his twin, and as a result, took greater advantage of his imperative to explore. He explored Donnalaich thoroughly, learning the best ways to get around and finding secret spots for him and his brother to repair to. As soon as he was old enough to do so, he began exploring outside the city as well, soon becoming well-versed enough in the dangerous jungles of Luthmor to serve as a guide to foreigners, which he often did to earn a bit of money to fuel his independence.

When they came of age, both were well regarded, though Silvas was more respected since his course had him climbing the religious echelons of the Fae city. His inquisitive nature led him beyond the bounds of their parents' faith, however, and he began to explore other ideologies. One concept in particular that appealed to him were the Ways of Spirits practiced in far away Corone. He believed that the origins of the Fae may in fact relate to Spirit Lore, and would often beg Lioran to direct travelers from those lands to him so that he could learn more.

The twins spent less and less time together as their interests diverged. Lioran too was hungry for knowledge about other lands, but in a much more diffuse way. Travelers brought with them tales, and those tales of adventure and terror fascinated the young Fae. He began ranging farther and farther afield from the city, often spending weeks at a time guiding adventurers through the wilds.

It was upon returning from one such ranging that he learned that Silvas had disappeared, and from the state of his apartment, that there had been some kind of struggle. He'd been missing for days by the time Lioran returned, and despite the fact that searchers had scoured the city, he spent days doing so himself, visiting every secret spot that he and his twin had ever shared. In one, he found some maps and journals that led him to believe that his brother had discovered something important relating to Corone

He set off at once, trading his guide services to travelers he knew to be smugglers in exchange for passage off of Deathain. He traveled with them as far as Scara Brae, and then spent several months in that country learning as much as he could and earning enough coin to get him to Corone. He learned that there was a Fae presence in Concordia, and decided to start his search for Silvas there.

Combat Style: Lioran's means of fighting are unpredictable at best. He will often make use of his Wood-Shaping in the midst of battle with his staff, causing it to lengthen or truncate in order to confuse opponents, or even growing spines on it to threaten armored foes. He favors guerilla tactics, preferring to strike unseen in order to unbalance his opponents. He lacks formal training, however, and more seasoned opponents can likely find openings that his rashness leaves.

Skills:
Navigation – Land (Adept): Lioran has an excellent sense of direction and a somewhat profound intuition when it comes to making his way around the world. He might intuit from the slope of a hill that it leads to water, or guess from the way that a city's streets are arrayed where the market is.
Cartography (Adept): Lioran is skilled at drawing maps of an area after exploring it, and even provides aesthetic touches to his work.
Herbalism (Proficient): His affinity for the element of wood and years spent exploring wild places have left him aware of the uses of many herbs and other types of vegetation.
Stealth (Adept): Lioran is accustomed to moving quietly and staying out of sight; this is particularly true in forest settings.
Negotiation (Adept): Whether it be hammering out the terms of a business deal or settling a dispute, Lioran has a knack for coming to conclusions that are fair and agreeable to all involved parties.
Staff Combat (Proficient): While alone amongst rogues and smugglers, Lioran learned how to take care of himself, and favors a simple staff of oak.

Abilities:
Wood-Shaping: Lioran has a profound connection with the element of Wood, but is still learning to harness it. He can cause wood and plant life to grow and even change shape by touching it. Living, non-magical plants can be made to grow at an accelerated rate, with the amount of time and energy used depending on the size and complexity of the plant (for example, a simple berry bush might be made to yield a season's growth in a few minutes, but altering an ancient tree would take so long that it might as well be impossible). Unliving, non-magical plant matter can also be affected, but cannot gain mass in any way (so a cut branch could lengthen, but would grow thinner as a result).

Body of Wood: Lioran bears some of the innate durability of his element. At present, his skin has the same durability as oak (meaning that he can still be damaged by piercing and slashing attacks, though less so than flesh and blood beings, and that bludgeoning attacks are fairly ineffective against him). Note, his mass is still the same, so blunt attacks of sufficient force could still send him flying.

Renewal of Spring: Lioran has the ability to restore vitality to living things (and only living things). Doing so at his current level of skill is quite time consuming for anything but the most minor injuries, meaning that it is only truly effective outside of combat situations. Mortal wounds and lost appendages are beyond his skill as well.

Weaknesses:
Ancestral Allergy: Lioran is decended from Fae nobility, and is thus subject to negative effects from cold iron. Even it's touch causes him extreme physical discomfort, and wounds inflicted by an actual cold iron weapon are much more severe than they would otherwise be.

Flammability: Due to his connection with Wood, Lioran is vulnerable to flames (and thus, pyrophobic). Minor burns are more uncomfortable and take longer to heal than normal, and major burns can easily prove fatal.

Equipment: Oaken Staff, Herbalism Pouch, Cartography Tools
