History

“Several leagues south of Archen lies Ursten, a modest town in the heart of Salvar. Now it stands, protected by a palisade crafted with age-old softwood, threatening to cave in thanks to the elements of time. Surrounding the town is a stretch of forest, deep green conifers of which murderous beasts hide underneath their shadows. It is told that once had an insane baron, who was its last as well--for it now sits abandoned - vines, rhizomes, and dust overgrowing everywhere behind the stakes.

The baron, senses ruined by insanity, went on a killing-spree by ordering his guards to murder every peasant they held in sight; be it man, woman, or even child. Ursten had always been filled with peasants, and other than the tyrannical aristocracy, they were its only inhabitants. And so the night passed, yet it was a night which felt like a year of dismay: men beaten to their death, children murdered in cold-blood, and women… raped. Then murdered.

One man, among the aristocracy, protested and sent for Archen’s council of the baron’s deeds. The nation then was torn by civil war, thus nothing was done to stop this madness. Or maybe the letter had never reached the city.

Many peasants’ blood was spilled, covering Ursten in a deep red hue that would ever remain a bitterly distant memory in the man’s mind. He knew that the higher-ups would never respond. He realized if he wanted to change something he’d have to act on his own - to dirty his own hands and bloody his own sword. On the night after, the baron was murdered in his sleep. The murderer was soon identified, captured, and sentenced to death by hanging.

His wife, also an aristocrat, was imprisoned in the fetid dungeon of the baron’s castle. She had been expecting a child. Shortly afterwards the child was born, in that very dungeon she’d spent a day and two nights in, minutes before her death.

I was that child.”


Appearance


Brown, sleek hair is pulled back and tied with a knot to reveal a pale, stern face. Amber eyes the color of sand are set asymmetrically within their sockets, watching anxiously over a nation he’d sought solace in for too long.


In the midst of an intrepid clash against a murderous beast, its claw would leave a mark reaching from just above the right eye, running down to end at the cheekbone. A scar leaving a stinging memory of the misfortunes found aplenty in its owner’s history.


As an itinerant warrior and a hired gun, Anubis dons a dark jerkin atop a long-sleeved shirt, gauntlets pulled in and tied firmly at the elbows. Steel padded boots cover his shins and feet. Whether or not he’s seen wearing the usual black cloak is contingent on the weather.


His sword, no matter what material, is carried on the back, lying in its scabbard next to his versatile weapon-of-choice.



Personality

Self-centered and tentative, Anubis is a stubborn combatant hailing from the harsh backwoods of Salvar. He knows no acquaintance, but only friends and foes. He is but a youth which patience is one of the many traits that defy him, one who is by nature a loner and an outcast. With a ruthless streak to him that makes him extremely dangerous when provoked.

Anubis is extremely adept at allaying intense and at times, bleak situations in his life. He is, simply, a man who would much sooner have everyone turn back and disappear than draw their swords in battle. Moreover, the Salvarian is known for his vicious loyalty to his friends; and his vicious barbarism to his foes, a trait garnered through his bitter Salvarian background.


Skills

Swordsmanship: Anubis has mastered his skills with a sword, allowing him to handle one with graceful aptitude.

Horsemanship: In a saddle since boyhood, the Salvarian’s ability on a mount now match an equestrian’s, which he could combine with his swordplay skills to slay his foes on horseback.

Marksmanship:Give him a quarrel and a crossbow (or a bow), and Anubis would effortlessly land the blow onto the desired target - moving or stationary.

Enhanced Senses: Anubis can sense the presence of life, even when invisible, within a certain distance. (Currently at fifty paces.)




Abilities

Agility: Anubis ability to physical situations increases thrice the average agility capacity. Agility bonus can passively be activated at will. It takes approximately two turns after the Agility bonus has been activated to reactivate again. Agility requires concentration. The bonus to Agility is only active for about two-four turns.


Fire Resistance: Through practice and will, Anubis has developed a form of resistance (13%) to sorcerous and natural fire. First-degree burns are now not as normally harmful as to an ordinary human.

Anesthetizima: Anubis could cast a spell to, as the name suggests, narcotize any being for a brief amount of time. Purposes for this include: an opening in battles (can only be used once); calming agitated beasts; controlling an NPC’s actions, etc. The spell is cast by tracing two fingers in the air, as if sketching the spell's respective sign.

Induced Elements (Fire): Using any of the available elements, Anubis can manipulate them to coat his blade. Thus, when used in battle, the weapon would inflict the normal wounds along with the element's effects. In this case, first-degree burns. The ability can last up to 4 posts.

Pursuer: A superhuman state accessed through pure concentration, Anubis could focus his vision to find tracks and clues - even those a few weeks old - that no ordinary human can.

Hi fez, good to see an update!

Enhanced Senses, (albeit a weak one) is an ability. I don't believe we need to rework your abilities to make room for it, I'll count it and Pursuer as a single ability under a 'sense/tracking' school.

With Anesthetizima, can you expand on how the spell is cast? Is it assume it automatically affects it's target?

With Induced Elements (Fire), can you limit the length of time the blade is coated with fire to a combined 4 posts? (that would allow you to use it on and off during the fight.)

Lastly, can you add a link to where you purchased or quested for those new weapons?
