History
“Several leagues south of the metropolis Archen used to lie a smaller city, one that went by the name Ursten. Edged by a palisade, the wood of which has already rotten, that had once acted as protection, a psychotic earl had for long ruled this now abandoned city.
Tired under the authority of an insane ruler, peasants gathered by the score and cried out in answer to his ruthless oppression. The earl himself, all remnants of sanity next to nothing, decided to answer by going on a killing-spree; guards ordered, forced, to kill every peasant that dared oppose him. Man, woman or child - it didn't matter with them. The night that felt like a month of dismay passed: what happened that night was no mass murder. It was slaughter.
A single viscount among the aristocracy was the only one to protest against this, sent for Archen’s council to inform them of the earl’s deeds. The nation then torn by civil war, nothing was done to intercept the earl's actions. Or… maybe, just maybe, the letter never reached the city.
The streets were soon covered in red, a bitter memory that would engrave itself in the viscount's mind for the rest of his days. He knew that none in power would even respond, realized that if he wanted to save the people that died by the score - he’d have to act on his own. To act, and dirty his own hands and bloody his own blade. With the passage of no more than a single night, the earl was murdered in his study. Soon the viscount identified. He was sentenced to death by hanging.
His wife, also an aristocrat, was wrongly imprisoned in the dungeon below the earl's castle. She had been with child, and expected to deliver shortly. Days afterward, a baby boy was born, only minutes before she passed.
I, Azaranth Ubissad, was that child.”
Appearance
Brown, sleek hair is pulled back and tied with a knot to reveal a pale, stern face. Amber eyes the color of sand are set asymmetrically within their sockets, watching anxiously over a nation one'd sought solace in for too long. During a certain intrepid clash against a monster, its claw would leave a scar reaching from just above the right eye, running down to end at the cheekbone. Another souvenir from another monster.
As an itinerant warrior and a hired gun, Anubis dons a dark jerkin atop a long-sleeved shirt, gauntlets pulled in and tied firmly at the elbows. Steel padded boots cover his shins and feet. Whether he’s seen wearing the usual black cloak is contingent on the weather. His sword, no matter what material, is always strapped to his back, lying in its scabbard next to his versatile weapon-of-choice.
Personality
Self-centered and tentative, Anubis is a stubborn combatant hailing from the harsh backwoods of Salvar. He knows no acquaintance, only friends and foes. He is but a youth which patience is one of the many traits that elude him, one who is by nature a loner and an outcast - with a ruthless streak to him that makes him extremely dangerous when provoked.
Anubis is extremely adept at allaying intense and at times, bleak situations in his life. He is, simply, a man who would much sooner have everyone turn back and disappear than draw their swords in battle. Moreover, the Salvarian is known for his vicious loyalty to his friends; and, of course, his vicious barbarism with his foes, a trait garnered through his bitter Salvarian background.
Skills
Swordsmanship: Anubis has mastered his skills with a sword, allowing him to handle one with graceful aptitude.
Horsemanship: In a saddle since boyhood, the Salvarian’s ability on a mount now match an equestrian’s, which he could combine with his swordplay skills to slay his foes on horseback.
Weapon Throwing: Anubis has learned the ability to effectively throw weapons, and not only the kind crafted for throwing; swords, axes and daggers are examples of what he can employ from a distance.
Marksmanship: Give him a quarrel and a crossbow (or a bow), and Anubis would effortlessly land the blow onto the desired target - moving or stationary.
Enhanced Senses: Anubis can sense the presence of life, even when invisible, within a certain distance. (Currently at fifty paces.)
Thin-slicing: By learning this skill, Anubis acquires a finely tuned sense of position awareness and the ability to pick the right response instantly for a given situation.
Language Fluency: Anubis can speak, read and write in both Tradespeak and Salvan, given his Salvarian background.
Abilities
Agility: Anubis ability to physical situations increases twice the average agility capacity. Agility bonus can passively be activated at will. It takes approximately two turns after the Agility bonus has been activated to reactivate again. Agility requires concentration. The bonus to Agility is only active for about three-four turns.
Fire Resistance: Through practice and will, Anubis has developed a form of resistance (20%) to sorcerous and natural fire. First-degree burns now are not as normally harmful as to an ordinary human.
Poison Resistance: Through grave trials supervised by those who mastered this ability, Anubis has developed a form of resistance (10%) to all venomous poison, fairly slowing down its effects once it enters his body e.g. if a poison were to normally require ten posts to come into effect, that number would be stretched to eleven, and so on.
Anesthetizima: Anubis could cast a spell to, as the name suggests, narcotize any being for a brief amount of time. Purposes for this include: an opening in battles (can only be used once); calming agitated beasts; controlling an NPC’s actions, etc.
Induced Elements (Fire): Using any of the available elements, Anubis can manipulate them to cover his blade. Thus, when used in battle, the weapon would inflict the normal wounds along with first-degree burns.
Pursuer: A superhuman state accessed through pure concentration, Anubis could focus his vision to find tracks and clues - even those a few weeks old - that no ordinary human can.
Quon Protection: After further search into making use of the commanding art that is magic, Anubis can now command it to form a visible orange-colored shield to armor a particular body part i.e. his face, chest, fingers, etc. The strength of this armor is equivalent to that of Magim hide, and can be used up to three times every battle and be kept active for as long as two turns.
Super'kant: Through years of training and, of course, the necessary use of magic, Anubis's raw strength has grown to be x2 the average man's strength.
