3902 The Crimson Hand 3902

Synopsis:

The Crimson Hand is owned by one man, Lye Ulroke. He seeks to throw the world of Althanas into chaos and expose the dark nature of the world's nations. The Crimson Hands, a band of those mad enough to walk beside him, work to overturn the frail framework of lies built by Kings and leaders. Through the illusion of law, too many corrupted souls have perched upon the pinnacle of their Hierarchy. To bring those figures to their knees among their lowest charges is their goal and in the chaos of truth, they will reap money, power, and control.

Purpose:

We are what moves unseen in plain sight. We are the truth that lies buried beneath the lies. We are the Hand that reveals what most men would pay their lives to hide. The Crimson Hand seeks only to uncover the truth - There are no laws. There is no Order. What a man wants, he can have and by blade alone, can he prove it. The Crimson Hand seeks to teach this truth through whichever means they deem worthy. And in the chaos sewn by revelation, we will reap our just rewards as we deem fit.

History:

The Crimson Hand started with a single tortured soul. A man whose wife was torn from him by another and to which the government that swore to protect him imprisoned him for. In that cell grew an ideal - A purpose. It started as revenge, bloody and violent. As the wall of bodies towered between him and his humanity withered, he saw a simple truth.

Order, choice, and safety are all but an illusion cast upon the masses by those which rule on high.

The first incarnation of the Crimson Hand was born. Fabricated by the swords of ruffians and thugs, Lye sought out to do his work upon the world. In this, the island nation of Eiskalt was razed to the ground. A bloody battle that he illicited the armies of Alerar to participate. In the travesty, a white knight revealed itself in the form of the Ixian Knights. These numbered few sought it their duty to protect the innocent and provide security for those without. These Knights became Lye's first goal.

Through a series of well planned events featuring the aide of Aurelianus Drak'shal and Maddison Freebird, Lye finally succeeded in the destruction of the Knights. With Sei Orlouge's daughter dead, and the Avatar of Corone himself missing, the rest of the Knights disbanded. Now, their Ixian Castle stands as a hallowed memory of heroes once foolish enough to stand for those who couldn't defend themselves.

In the midst of this, an uprising was staged. Members of Lye's forces found his methods cruel and wasteful of human life. In the fray, he was imprisoned and tortured for an entire year by Madison Freedbird and Aurelianus Drak'shal. The absence of his presence caused the Crimson Hand to wither and disperse. Upon his release, the world greeted him anew, but without a sense of purpose. He roamed the land as a man between life and death for months. His harrowed form haunting the streets of Salvar, unable to die with Madison's Briartouch closely knit around his heart.

However, in recent light and revelation, the Assassin King has found renewed reason. Wiser, more cunning, and just as sinister, he has once again lit the fires of the Seventh Sanctum. Inside the walls of his Grand Hall, he waits upon a throne of human ivory as the message of his presence is made known again. Through the wings of his ravens, the world will once again know the call of The Crimson Hand.

Structure:

The Master:

At the top of the makeshift hierarchy stands Lichensith and him alone. While he may view some as equals, there is no command higher than his own.

The Order of Shadows:

A group of those sworn oath to the Crimson Hand. These members of the faction specialize in the unseen hand. They assassinate, infiltrate, sabotage, and force the will of their cause. This is the largest body of the Crimson Hand and the most loyal of them all.

The Order of Blades:

A group of those sworn oath to the Crimson Hand. These members of the faction specialize in the the strong arm of the cause. Where tact fails and brutal force is called for, these members will be present. They execute mercenary work, exploit coin, and defend those sworn to the oath. They are the most ruthless of them all. They are the face and the most well known of the Crimson Hand.

The Order of the Coins:

A group of those sworn oath to the Crimson Hand. These members of the faction specialize in the finances of the Crimson Hand. They are those that provide food, income, research, and information. Where a more subtle approach is needed, these members are called upon. They are the most cunning of them all.

Stipulations:

The Hands are charged with many great secrets. They are never to reveal the exact location of their headquarters. Their involvement with the Hand must be kept as quiet as possible. Those that expose their identity to others must take extra caution not to become a liability. Once you join The Hands, you are branded for life. Those that leave or put The Hands at risk will be hunted. Registration in other groups is allowed and is encouraged. Any and all alignments are allowed. Your primary loyalties are left for you to decide, however, our mark is made of blood and any blood will do.

Initiation:

Manners of initiation vary. Initiates are typically given an opportunity to prove themselves through a contract delivered by ravens. Fulfill this contract and you will be welcomed through an oath of blood.

3902 Application Process and Thread Conduct 3902

<!>Must Read<!>

This PG is similar to the mafia with the respect of "Blood in, blood out". When you agree to join The Crimson Hands, you are privileged with our knowledge, resources, and spoils. All of these came to The Crimson Hands at great cost, and we would like you to respect that. Characters that betray The Hands will be hunted. This will be done through OC communication if writers are aware of their actions and know to expect it. Otherwise, your character is subject to be hunted through any open quest or event they join. I am very understanding and open to any and all communication. Just remember that this group expects you to uphold some form of contribution and when major events are posted, we appreciate your involvement. We expect this group to offer you a challenge, help create a standard of discipline, and increase your enjoyment of everything Althanas has to offer. Let us work together and make a mark on Althanas history.

Why do you want your character to join The Crimson Hands?

As far as personal reasons go, she has two. The first reason: Someone has to make sure Lye stays in line and doesn't do anything stupid. The second reason: Her resume speaks for itself, and the years that have passed since Eiskalt have taught her to be more subtle in her work. She would best be used in the Order of the Shadows, what with her upbringing as an assassin and her encyclopedic knowledge of diseases and poisons that could be used with laser precision on a single target or as a mass... shall we say, tool of persuasion. The renewed purpose in life would be good for her, snapping her out of her current ennui and pulling her back into reality and away from the growing voices of fallen Forgotten Ones in her head.

Character Alignment: Chaotic Neutral, probably
Preferred Position: Unknown. Likely Shadows, would be happy sharing the responsibility of Master with Madison ;)

Why do you want your character to join The Crimson Hands?

Philomel would be seeking to heal the wounds of the past, though has not yet still forgiven Madison for declaring war on her Gilded Lily. In the absence of the Crimson Hand Philomel has dedicated all her time to the Gilded Lily and would be seeking to work as part of the Crimson Hand, though on a secure level of being allies. She offers her information network developed over the past year that involves a lot of the brothels and currently stretches from Corone to Skara Brae and Raiaera. She is working on Salvar and Alerar. She would be looking to be more than a punter and possibly even have a unique status within it because of her work in the past. She still respects Lye and would be willing to work under - with - him so long as he agrees not to be a dick again.

I think a thread might be in order here.

Also as a note, I am working on a thread with Aure/Twitch to introduce Phi and Aure together again so this could be interesting.

Why does your character want to join the Crimson Hand?

With his influence on the Brotherhood of the Castigars cemented after the events of 'A Game of Shadows', Shinsou sets about consolidating his power. As he looks deeper into the organisations history he discovers links to the Crimson Hand, whose legacy and history intrigues him.

After a rumour circulates that the Crimson Hand has returned, Osiris finds a need to satisfy his curiosity and decides to apply join the Hand, looking to gain access to their vast resources as well as present to himself the opportunity to test his power on new opponents. Not only would this benefit the Brotherhood, his own personal army, but would strengthen the Telgradian's own position of power and influence on Althanas.

Philomel

Also Shin and Phi together are a force to be reckoned with. The Crimson Hand would be wise to accept them both or neither - i.e. not one without the other. :P

Shin is in dependent on the outcomes of a thread. Bad blood exists with Philomel and her sect. An alliance may be more appropriate, leaving her in charge of her own for the time being.

Is there any way Shin could vouch for Phi? She is, after all, a member of the Brotherhood and under his protection.

Lest we forget, there was a war between the Crimson Hand and the Gilded Lily...

Lest we forget, there was a war between the Crimson Hand and the Gilded Lily...

There was also a war between Britain and Germany, but we're all good mates now.

Allegedly.

Anyway, if Shin can't vouch for Phi, he would be duty bound to pull his application. Nothing personal but the Brotherhood stand by their own. Demz the rules.

Philomel
09-27-16, 09:52 AM
Bad blood pnly exists because Madison declared war on the Gilded Lily, not the other way around. Phi is looking to go beyond that, and repair the damages. If the Crimson Hand refuses her assistance because THEY declared war on her and her sect well...

It is not Phi's fault. It was the Crimson Hand who declared war on the Gilded Lily.

Basically - what you are saying is not really fair as Phi did not ask for a war and personally I really enjoyed the Crimson Hand whilst it was a thing.

Aurelianus Drak'shal

Edit: Never noticed page one of this thread. Damn it.

Either way, I'd be happy to take up my role in the Hand again if you'll accept me.

If not, the House of Sin goes with me. :P

But aye; even if the alliance is deemed the favourable option, Phi and Aure are more than happy to work together to bring money in with their respective dens of debauchery.

Lye
09-27-16, 12:48 PM
I'll get names added to the list. Phi, don't consider you a part of the group yet. Shin either for that matter. We need to execute a thread and see how it goes before a final call. Truth being, The Guilded Lily is a liability. At present, their stance is unknown after the declaration. Those that work under Phi are not members of the Hand and therefore are able to move independently. One person can be snuffed out if they're a problem, but an unknown number of followers is an issue.

From that political stance, its a poor idea to resume where we left off. Some manner of pact or arrangement needs to be made. Were Phi willing to swear her followers and her ship to the Hand, we could move forward.

This new Hand no longer has a trio of leaders, just one. While he may acknowledge some as peers, he's not permitting anyone on equal footing.

Aurelianus Drak'shal
09-27-16, 12:50 PM
Nah cutter, I just meant Master of Coin - or a member of that sub-sect if not.

The house of Sin still has a lot of money to flow through it and a lot to offer those willing to offer patronage to my Aure.

Though the Shadows may also suit - sabotage and infiltration are always fun. :P

Max Dirks
09-27-16, 01:17 PM
In Dirks' current canon, he betrayed The Crimson Hand and swore allegiance to Ashla Icebreaker. He currently hunts for Tobias.

I do hope you'll include him on your wanted list...

Why do you want your character to join The Crimson Hand?

After serving as Captain of the Underwood Watch throughout the Corone War, Phyr is done with playing the hero. He laid his life on the line during the war and when all was said and done barely had two silvers to rub together. He moved to Serenti and is currently working as an aide to the Baron of Tylmerande, Aniel Marwena. Phyr's goal is to use the knowledge he is privy to to gain wealth and influence. Joining the Crimson Hand would give Phyr more tools and resources to achieve these goals, and become the powerful politician he envisions himself as.

As a writer I'm looking to get this character active again and explore his darker side, and for that I need help from the bad guys.

Philomel
09-27-16, 02:02 PM
The Crimson Hand wouldn't get the Gilded Lily girls (the Lilies) swearing allegiance just as they wouldn't (I believe) have the entire House of Sin folk swearing it. Or, for instance, those working with Maddy etc.

Philomel
09-27-16, 02:03 PM
Actually okay, I now have an idea. Lye, can we have a chat on facebooks etc, as I have an interesting proposal for you.

Tobias Stalt
09-28-16, 01:13 AM
It would make sense to have a bunch of traitors swear absolute allegiance. I don't recall any of those other groups taking up arms against the cause. In any case, I don't think it's actually that unreasonable of a request, and if they're unwilling, the worst that could happen is that they remain enemies of the Hand.

And targets.

Philomel
09-28-16, 01:31 AM
Tobi, I don't think you read my other post -

The Crimson Hand declared war on the Gilded Lily. Phi was never a traitor, Madison was just scared of her power she had gained and the fact she made her own guild. The Gilded Lily took up arms in defence. So I don't think there is anything in terms of "traitors" here. And The Crimson Hand has been gone for a year, so the Gilded Lily has grown. They aren't enemies, just existinct acquaintences.

At least that is how Philomel sees it. If Tobias sees it the "traitor" way then he is very wrong.

Tobias Stalt
09-28-16, 01:39 AM
Wrong is a point of view, Anakin.

Also, you could have chosen not to war. It's absolutely voluntary to pick up arms rather than seek a diplomatic solution.

Lye
09-28-16, 06:47 AM
The war was another attempt to earn an HQ from the old system. Eiskalt was a mess and too bold for the CH at the time. The Guilded Lilly was somewhat reasonable but still a force conflict with weak IC reasoning. Regardless, the Guilded Lily is its own militant force, Aure's is not. Now there's Shin who went from an interested recruit to a devoted partner/follower. We'll do the thread and make a call in character where their IC personalities can clash.

Ailsa, open the thread for me. Set it on your ship or wherever your ship is docked. I'll be bringing Tobias because I want to feel out their IC interaction as well. We'll spit out a few posts, get a feel for their stances and call it on the spot.

Philomel
09-28-16, 09:59 AM
I will open it, but please do not use the word "traitor" as that is very unfair and really not what went on.

So I'm beginning to think that new recruits will need to be charges/disciples of existing and well established members. With that in mind, I may have Phyr work with/under Aure once initiated.

If everything goes well with Phi in that thread, then Shin will be her charge/disciple.

And should we get another tenant from a fresh member of Althanas, they will be a charge/disciple for Madison.

Once these new members have been worked into the fold, they'll be able to take disciples of their own should there be a need for growth in the future. That said, I may temporarily close recruitment once I have the member base I need for the time being. Then, re-open as needed for disciples.

Thoughts?
