A man wearing a long grey coat entered the halls of the Citadel with a note in his hand. He passed the monks in the lobby and posted a note into the wood at the beginning at the hallway. He reviewed the note briefly and then exited from where he came. After short time, one of the warriors moved to the note:

------------

By Order of the Office of Corrections of the Entrepreneurs:

Effective immediately, a 10% tax (10% of a character's total GP to a maximum of 1000 GP) is being placed on ALL ressurrections conducted as a result of death in the Citadel. Fallen warriors will have the money removed from their person, or transfered from an account prior to their revival. Failure to pay the required tax will result in Correction by the agents of IE's Office of Corrections (though its very hard to resist when one is already dead).

Signed,

Khariss Sevrath, Leader of the Entrepreneurs

------------

Mere moments after the warrior finished reading the note, the massive double doors to the Citadel came crashing open and an army of large men surrounded the interior of the Citadel. Any resistance by anyone would be met by death not reversed by the magic of the Citadel's healers.

The mercenaries fell rapidly to the Citadel's mighty defenses. While not trained in the art of war, the monks knew enough to repel a few poorly armored invaders with their magic. The temple was terribly desecrated, but nothing beyond repair for the monks' powerful restorative techniques.

A single monk stood over the corpses of the fallen warriors and looked at the note attached to the wall. He spoke to the body below him, even though in death it could not possibly hear.

"Maybe next time, you'll remember to bring a more adept army," he mocked. "We bring life with no fee. Our services are not yours to tax."

He ripped the note easily from the wall and dropped it, letting it fall gently over the top of the fallen warrior's face, obscuring it from view. Though as a nameless soldier of the militia, it is doubtful that his face had much meaning anyway.

"Clean the bodies," the monk called to his colleagues. "I get the feeling that we may need to be prepared for more."

This thread has been waiting for over a year. If you would like to complete it, or work on it further, you can PM myself or another staff member and ask for it to be moved. However, till that time, it will be resting in the Citadel Archive forum.

Thanks,
