An assassin ended the life of Alerar's beloved Queen Valsharess in the early hours of the morning. Rumors say her death was quick but brutal, a single stab wound straight into her back as she slept. Her guards had been dispatched quickly, their heads have yet to be found. Authorities are moving quickly to find the dubious fiends responsible and bring to them the most swift and powerful justice they can. If any Aleran citizen has information, it would be wise to turn it over post haste.

The realm of Alerar will pass to Queen Valsharess' little known cousin, Edari'axa. Her brother still refuses acceptance of the crown. Edari'axa coronation is under planning, pending Queen Valsharess' funeral. The aristocracy and the people of Alerar mourn the loss. Emissaries from Salvar, who were in Ettermire at the time, will attend the grand services held in the late Queen's honor.

Edari'axa made no comment, but his chief adviser Schynius, a former officer under him in the military, had this to say. "Obviously Edari'axa is still deeply saddened by the loss of his dear cousin, but he has mentioned great plans for Alerar through his tears. The divided realm, kept weak by petty squabbles, will once again know true peace and prosperity under a new guiding light. Alliances will be crucial, for as no man is an island, so too is no nation alone in this world. Future prospects with Salvar look bright, and their top diplomat Ashiakin Azzarak has only the deepest respect for the loss of our queen and the toll it takes on the people. Still, we cannot stay within the shadows depression forever. We must remember to keep our eyes forward, allowing only a passing glance back."

Plans for a new machine to increase trade between Salvar and Alerar are already underway. May the gods watch over our fallen Queen, and may they watch over her people now too.
