The Brotherhood
Purpose:
The Brotherhood is a close collection of people seeking one thing and perhaps one thing only; Sanctuary. A sense of family is often formed, since most members tend to live in that which the Brotherhood calls home. The clan offers many different services, for both members and outsiders. Since one of it's goals is to aid those in need, the clan often takes difficult missions and tasks, such as escorting nobles in fear of their life, or dispatching threatening monstrosities. One can also find a wealth of information in the Hand's library, though it is closely guarded by the Tower, oddly enough.
For those that are lost, for those that fear for their safety, the Brotherhood stands.
History:
Many years ago, a simple theif came forward throught the ranks of a clan of brigands and bandits in the Concordian forest called the Bandit Brotherhood. This thief, named Yari Rafanas, killed the original leader by incident and thus brought forth into Althanas this power group's original incarnation; The Bandit Brotherhood. The BB stood for the freedom to do what you wanted, and when you wanted to do it, and was a sanctuary to outlaws from the iron clutches of the law. However, upon the passing of Yari Rafanas after an epic battle against the Mindless, the group changed hands.
This new owner was another promising young thief, named Gild Sorrain. Gild had greater plans for the BB than it's previous leader. He saw a clan that opened it's arms to all sorts of people, and not simply the desperate theif with soldiers hot on his or her heels. So young Sorrain founded the Brotherhood, settling the clan on an island named Sanctuary populated by living stone defenses, a living city to sustain the Brotherhood's family, which he created through the Codex of Magic. When Gild vanished, the Brotherhood shifted ownership to the half elf, General Damon Kaosi. Though the clan saw a few years of prosperity, when Damon in turn vanished, the Brotherhood fell apart and became no more.
Three years later, when a few former members of the first Brotherhood met in Radasanth by luck and happenstance, the subject of the Brotherhood was brought up, and they set forth to pull the skeleton of the clan forth and breathe life into it. This new reincarnation of the Brotherhood is led not by the Aegis of old, but by a Council. While it's intentions are largely unknown, it's trumpeted that their purpose is as it has always been; to provide Sanctuary to the desperate, the lost, the scared.
Symbol:
The Brotherhood's symbol is a shield adorned with five panels. Upon those panels are depicted a sword, a tower, and directly beneath it, the shadow cast by the tower, a hand, and a scroll. Not all members wear this symbol in plain sight, though diplomats of the Word are usually required to.
The Divisions
The Sword
The Brotherhood's muscle, the Sword is the sole military might and is the most common unit to find on missions.
The Shadow
The Shadow's primary usage is espionage and reconnaissance, though on occasion is used for assassinations.
The Hand
The Hand is in charge of research and development, and is often sent out in search of artifacts or objects of interest to the Brotherhood.
The Tower
The "boring" Division, the Tower is in charge primarily of maintenance, but also of security in the Brotherhood's home. In addition, this division keeps a detailed list of current members, and if the Brotherhood implements the use of membership items, the Tower will be in charge of them.
The Word
The Word is responsible for diplomatic relations with both the Coronian government, as well as other clans. Since the Brotherhood commonly harbors less than respectable peoples in their fold, they occassionally take care of some of the "dirt" that's been swept under the government's rug.
