Javet
12-18-06, 07:40 PM
Name: Javet Yradechae
Age: 20
Race: Human
Hair Color: Brown
Eye Color: Blue
Height: 6' 2"
Weight: 215 lbs.
Occupation: Paladin
Personality: Javet possesses a grim, serious personality that is in a strange contrast to his appearance. He isn't overly friendly, and doesn't usually bother to go out of his way to befriend people. The paladin, however, takes everything seriously, and rarely laughs. He usually chooses to take his time to brood and train, instead of cutting loose and having some fun like other people his age.
Appearance: The man wears his straight brown hair long, reaching down to his waist, and usually keeps his bangs tucked away beneath his turban, though they constantly sneak free and fall into his face. His blue eyes, darkened with hints of a storm cloud's gray, stare serenely from a youthful face, one that makes him appear to still be in his teens, something that he is often mocked for. Something that adds to the illusion of youth is his rather slender build, a terrible contrast to the other paladin's heavier, bulky bodies. Even as such, he is well toned from many hours of weapons training, and is still not a warrior to be trifled with.
Javet's day to day attire very rarely differs from his uniform. It consists of a white, long sleeved undershirt whose sleeves fall over the backs of his hands, black fingerless gloves, a white surcoat worn above his armor, and a tightly wrapped white turban. A pair of voluminous purple dyed pants are worn over his leg armor. A cape of the same shade, though of a slightly lighter variation, falls down his back and over one arm. A wine colored sash with markings of the church stitched in gold embroidery is only worn when on duty.
History: Javet's yet unnamed parents relinquished care and ownership of him twenty years ago on the doorsteps of a Salvarian monastery. As he grew with the other orphans, he was set apart by his general outlook on his situation. The boy barely seemed to care at all that his parents had abandoned him, claiming that maybe he was too good for them. He seemed to be far more mature for his age, even at nine, preferring to do things for himself. However, when it came right done to things, he was still just another orphan amongst grimy faces.
It wasn't until he was twelve that someone took notice of him. From his room at the orphanage, a window faced the execution grounds, and nightly he watched criminals being burnt alive at the stake. The other children saw it as grim, and chose to occupy themselves with chores when the condemned where marched out. One night, young Javet slipped out to get a closer look. The executioners, paladins in the service of the Church, were tossing burning sticks into the piles beneath the prisoners, and after some moment's hesitance, picked up one of the torches, cocked back his arm...and threw it.
And threw.
And threw.
He became hypnotized by the way the flames danced, by the sound of of the screams mixed with the crackling of the fire. Impressed by the boy's "devotions", one of the present paladins, Nume Ardin, decided to adopt the boy and immediately immerse him in both training and education. After six years of hard work, Javet was given to the Order of the Holy Constellation, in the lowest rank, becoming the Thirtieth Star. He performed admirably over the next two years, but when Belnin Vaer noticed that something appeared to be troubling the young man, he ordered him to take a vacation, though Javet preferred to label it as peregrination.
Skills:
Nurse - A common skill of the paladin, and one that is learned early in their education. This spell will heal light to moderate wounds, such as simple bruises and wounds that go no deeper than four inches. Nurse cannot be used on himself however, as such an act would display greed, something a paladin is not allowed to indulge in.
Swordsmanship - Javet has average skill with a sword.
Hammer Expertise - Javet has an average skill with war hammers and maces.
Cover - A selfless skill of the paladin, the use of which speaks volumes for his or her bravery. This spell casts a faint aura around an ally (or even enemy), and Javet will receive all damage dealt to that person so long as he is conscious, living, and the spell is active. However, dmage that would be ignored by armor is also ignored by the spell.
Equipment:
Scale Mail
A shirt of scaled mail wrought of steel. Javet prefers this to the usual chestplate as it weighs him down considerably.
Iron Plate
Polished, black iron plates that armor his upper and forearms, thighs, and shins.
War Hammer
An oak and iron war hammer that Javet uses often. It's crow bill is still attached, despite his oath to never take an innocent life, and is not commonly put to use. While he cannot kill, he can certainly bruise and break, and the hammer allows him to do so.
Steel Longsword
A brand given to him by the church when he became a paladin, the sword is of impeccable craftsmanship, though manages to look fairly simple to the untrained eye. The pommel is a simple, small hoop of steel, and it's crossguards are in the form of a regular rectangle. It's hilt is wrapped with soft, treated leather. Since he is under oath to never take a life so long as it is innocent, Javet has never drawn the sword to shed blood, only to polish and care for it. It is indeed rare to see a paladin ever draw his sword, and it is likely that Javet may never use it for more than ornamentation. One would think that he would simply sell it and be rid of it then, but to part with the blade for coins is an act of treason to the church.
A red ribbon is tied tightly to it's pommel, but Javet has never given a reason for it.
Fur Cloak
As most travelers know, the further one treks into Salvar, the more hellish and frigid it becomes. Many fugitives flee into the north in hopes that they can hide out long enough for the heat to vanish, so most paladins carry a fur cloak of some sort to fight the cold while carrying out their duties. Javet's is white, to camoflauge himself.
Shackles
A pair of chained iron shackles to bind prisoners in transit.
