Personality: Seth is often a reserved person now, often waiting before acting. A hint of his Lavinian Pride remains, but he has not acted nearly as arrogant as he had when he started his journey. He now seeks to atone for his sins, and while quick to anger, he will try to avoid violence unless enraged beyond ration, or forced into it. He is also afraid of the power inside him, and this shows up as a cautious reserve in the thief, the use of the magic seeming to lure him closer to corruption.

Description: Seth is a white haired man of a moderate build. His eyes hold a hint of eternal sadness, which rarely goes away. His stature is more subdued, an outward sign of the torn soul that resides in his body. He wears a white linen shirt, repatched and cleaned countless times, along with brown cow hide pants. His boots while beginning as leather seemed to be falling apart. A brown vest is worn over his linen shirt, as is a trench coat made of sifan a bright blue.

History

Seth is the type of fellow that once he makes a vow, will do anything to achieve it. In the small trade town of Lavinya he was raised by two loving parents a poor boy. Seth would go to any lengths necessary to keep that a secret however, as he aspires to be the most dominant man in the history of this realm. Vowing to become one of the most powerful lords ever, he follows his own set of morals and seems to work as much behind the scenes as others do before them.

Seth began stealing when he had discovered the one thing that drove men. Gold, he saw the power of it, and he decided he would harvest it to his own end. As such he realized that coming from a poor family he had to increase his amount of gold, by less noble means. After plaguing the town of Lavinya for years, he finally had to leave, for he couldn't steal without being noticed. Everyone had their eyes on him.

When last he was spotted he was wearing tough cow hide clothing that was the standard wearing in his hometown. His shirt is made of linen. He carries two steel daggers for use on the few occasions that he has had to fight. He carries a standard satchel of cow hide with which he carries a small sheet of paper that has every one of his ten rules for success and the "Golden Rule of Seth". His prized possession is a small bronze coin that he has filed down to a sharp edge on one side. This coin gives a bonus to stealing purses as the sharp edge can cut through most purse strings allowing him to catch the falling wallet.

A lot of time since Seth last was seen. In this time he has grown in more ways than one. One such way was the inevitable event of gaining a few comrades. (Though he prefers to call them acquaintances) After having his life saved by the Half-Elf Koen he even wondered for awhile if he was in love with the girl. By now he has seen through this ruse, and merely associates the feeling to those of emotional distress.

Seth also took part in the Rangir war and was awarded with the medal of Trestoria, which currently rests on his desk in Keller hall along with three delyn daggers that belonged to his former guild master. While not proud of the medal, he keeps it as a silent testimony to his fighting abilities.

Level 1

Currently He has heard the summons of the great Red Hand and has decided that there would be no greater place to hone his skills. In answering the call he has joined the enigmatic Black Hand, but still doesn't know exactly where its headquarters lie.

Also on his to do list is to propagate the name he has already begun to create. With the dazzling feat of robbing the Scara Brae arena blind, he has become someone of a small legend. Much Like Lavinya he has left Scara Brae for everyone knows him by sight. (This means when I finish up the threads in Sacra Brae I will not post there anymore...)

It has become time to move on, and Seth Dahlios is sure to become what he has sought. One thing that puzzles him is how much fighting the thief is doing, and for being known as the Thief Extraordinaire...he surely doesn't do NEARLY enough thieving...

Level Two

Now he has come to terms with the fact he might not be a true thief, but he is a thief. A lot has happened since we last left our wandering thief. Upon entering the Black Hand Seth stirred up the pot of controversy like no Lavinian ever could. Standing in Hikari’s presence he fingered his daggers in was appeared to be defiance, but was really a precaution. It seemed that both parties had feared the same thing, betrayal and cruelty.

After a few fights, (One with Hikari and his other accuser Ranger Nailo) Seth seemed to break through the controversy and show just why he could be trusted. He had fully embraced the theater of war, and it seemed to be slowly paying off, as fewer and fewer angry glares followed Seth around Keller Hall. Since then he has participated in an especially deadly battle with his rival Lichensith Uleroke, which ended with the assassin vowing to come after the thief with a vengeance. It had appeared Scara Brae was sending assassins in force to recover their lost honor, at having their arena robbed in broad daylight.

Seth has also taken time out of his life to perhaps enjoy the few luxuries he never thought practical. Upon walking through the Concordia Forest Seth encountered a group of Bandits that assaulted both him and a fellow traveler, a woman by the name of Liliana Ambria. After escaping with her into a safe house that the Black Hand had littered across Corone Seth realized that he was falling in love with the woman. She also seemed to reciprocate the feelings and a sort of pseudo relationship has formed between the two.

Level Three

Seth has gone a long way from the normal thieving ways. In the time it has taken him to reach his next pinnacle much has happened to our aspiring thief. The Black Hand has been abandoned after Seth has seen it as nothing more than a glorified fight club. He has taken part in Gisela, and with disastrous results. Aien Tatsujin will always be a name that will be forever etched into his mind, as she single handedly handed our young thief his butt on a silver platter. He has also grown, in strength and speed, as he has discovered his true heritage, Hex Magic. Upon meeting the only true Hex Mage left in Althanas he learned of his roots, and began to delve into the magic.

Also during this time Seth Has met up with another Rival of his, Damon Kaosi. Damon has time again defeated the thief in his every move and ploy, showing the thief that he has an even longer way to go, before he can write his name into the Annals of Althanas History. The two rarely see eye to eye, but it is clear there is some grudging respect between themselves. With the Theater of War closed, Seth awaits to receive some recognition for his hard work, and potentially prove his worth to his peers.

Level 4

Seth has recently joined the bandit brotherhood and begun to slowly fit in. After a debacle involving him a couple of outhouses, girls laundry and a group known only as “The Stink” he has found his own nitch in the group. That was until one day a joke went to far….

After being made excessively drunk, dumped nude in Sanctuary’s fountain and injected with a chemical believed at the time to be a laxative, Seth Dahlios has become a woman. Going under the alias “Sarah”, he has gone on some interesting quests trying to cope with the fact that he’s no longer a man. Who knows how long it will last, but the culprit responsible will surely set it right, if only because “Sarah” will make sure they do so.

Since last we left our aspiring thief he has delved deeper into hex magic. At first using it sparingly he would feel moments he was not himself. After awhile Seth’s own ambition got the best of him as he finally shirked his better half and became a full Hex Mage, a creature of malicious intent. He has gone the first few steps down the path of madness by breaking up with his girlfriend Liliana in a brutal fashion.

He has also met and ostracized his former friend Logan McCloud who he believes is a weakness he would be better off without. Slowly ostracizing himself from his friends he journeys down the path of Self Destruction. It is unknown at this time where the bottom of the hole goes, but Seth has assuredly continued to dig himself deeper and deeper.

Level 5

Seth has gone through many trials, ending with his eternal damnation. Having traded his very soul for power our aspirant Thief Extraordinaire has forsaken everything that made him who he was. Pushing away friends and family alike Seth delved so deeply into Hex Magic one would have thought that he would have surely destroyed himself in his lust for power. This however was true to a certain point, Seth has destroyed himself, but a new Seth was born from the ashes of the old.

While journeying to Haidia after many of his travels took him through the world of Althanas, Seth realized he was so close to finding what he sought. This was a small pendant that would allow its wearer to take Hex Magic without paying ones very soul for them. Upon defeating the Dragon Zek’smaugok, and entering the tomb of Mordechai, a man he knew very much well to have been alive, he opened the Sarcophagus inside and unleashed an evil. The Homunculus Kycoo was unleashed upon the world and nearly killed Seth by turning his own magic against him. Shortly after this he decided that he would try to repair his corrupted soul.

Upon meeting with the Soul Drinker Amiya, He forged a deal that would cement his damnation. Traveling to the city of Lavinya for the first time since losing Gisela Seth entered his childhood home and killed both his parents. He then received his soul repaired but weaker. Since then Seth has lost the will to live, it may take his former friends and allies to give him something to live for again…

Level 6

Seth has slowly started to pull himself back together. While at the end of his rope he has found himself being helped on his way by Liliana. While her loyalty to him never wavered, he has felt he could never deserve their friendship. Still he has also earned many foes. Velius Demorio former Comrade to him in the Black Hand, and fellow member in the Brotherhood has vowed to utterly destroy the former Thief Extraordinaire. While Seth knows this is well within the Elves capabilities, he has tried to stay one step ahead of him, and in doing so has managed to live relatively safe.

He has also begun to try and fix old rifts between him and former rivals. One such rift was between him and Damon Kaosi, and during a conversation at the recently reopened Theater of War, they joined forces against the Homunculus Kycoo, and a member of an ancient order that claimed dominance over Kaosi. Following the fight they seemed on much better terms, but still Seth felt he had not done enough.

He has also sought to make amends against some of the friends he has hurt on his path to dominance. This has resulted in some bridges being repaired, but not even Seth knows if he could get back what he lost in his lust for power.

Level 7

Much has occurred for the thief extraordinaire. He has begun to discover untapped potential in trying to use his magic for good, however with the dawning of embracing his darker half; voices of corruption have begun to breed in him. At first a quiet buzzing in his head, when he entered Haida it grew to an explosion. Fighting in the Adventurer’s crown had proved that he was becoming slowly broken, the dges of his warped sanity fading away.

Also during this time he has fought in the citadel against a girl he referred to as only “Imp”. This fight ended rather similar to the time Amiya had stripped the soul from his body refashioning him a new one, and yet he isn’t sure what aftereffects of the soul leaving him have produced. The result is that he is left doubting everything he is capable of, and has long since fallen to guilt and fear.

Our thief is now trying to atone for his sins, and despite Liliana, looking for a situation to kill him, for he can’t stand his existence.

Innate Skill

Pain Syndicate – Seth has undergone so much pain and trauma that he can push himself further than the normal man. So long as Seth has drive and conviction to reach his goals, he will continue to fight. He does not easily fall unconscious or will not easily give into death. While he cannot ignore his wounds, he can keep fighting to the best of his abilities, working through the pain and trauma.

Learned Skills

Dagger Proficiency: 6 (The ability to use daggers in a practical and experienced manner.)

Throw voice: 3 (The art of ventriloquism, to make it appear his voice is coming from some other place than it originally had.)

Sneak: 3 (The art of stealthily moving in the darkness silently.)

Backstab: 3 (The art of harming someone by dealing a hard blow to the opponents back area, may cause serious wounds or internal injuries.)

Throw Daggers: 6 (the art of throwing his knives in a skillful and tactful way.)

Mimic Voice: 3 (The art of mimicking a person’s voice in order to deceive or confuse.)

Blind Fighting: 2 (The art of fighting effectively while blind or in complete darkness. At this level it allows Seth to use his daggers at a level 2 points lower than current. (In this case Seth’s dagger proficiency would be 4 when blind fighting.)

This is on a scale of 1-6 the scale works as follows:

1: Basic knowledge, enough that you won’t be caught easily in the act. However, someone that knows what to look for will blatantly catch him performing the act. Major fundamental problems with the user's technique.

2: Fine tuning of some of the more obvious errors, mastery at this point is such that the person can see where the mistakes are and figures out where to focus in order to improve. Basic fundamental errors some finer techniques elude them.

3: Mastery of most of the fundamental techniques involved with the skill. Most often at this point if a problem occurs it is usually associated with a situation that the person using it isn't familiar with, or in an area where the person is uncomfortable.

4: At this point even the more unusual circumstances will not faze the user. Problems may occur when the user is either anxious or cocky. Most problems are with the attitude of the user at the time of use.

5: At this point any mistakes are minimal. Only someone who is as experienced as the user can catch them in the act. At this point there is little more to master on the skill, but there are still some flaws.

6: You are the master of this skill. You can effectively teach and produce counters to the ability. Practicing is no longer of use to the user as it is pointless. The only way they could learn more is to actively use the skill constantly.

Knowledge Skills:

Lavinian Thief’s Guild – Seth knows the ins and outs of the guild and its workings. Because of this, he is able to easily find help from his comrades should he have to.

Dark Arts – During Seth’s tenure as a Hex Mage he researched many arcane and forbidden arts looking for spells to coerce his hex magic into. Because of this he has extensive knowledge of the forbidden arts, and if someone casts any around him, chances are he knows at least what type of magic is being used. This does not mean he is capable of producing counters, merely that he could identify it, and the school it might belong to.

Hex Magic – Seth knows as much as any outsider can possibly find out about Hex Magic. He knows little of the finer details, but does know about how it came about and what has been done with it as recorded by people in history. Being a Hex Mage himself, he also knows some of the finer details, though he is still in the dark about a lot of the concepts the magic goes into.

Hex Magic

Hex Magic is a rather sadistic branch of magic. This unique branch of magic is limited to those with the genetics qualities produced by wielders of such magic. The most notable trait being odd eye color among people of the region. This magic can only be learned through questing/battling, only with the express permission of the parties involved, and only with Moderator approval. I can STRENGTHEN spells I have already learned, however, I must first learn them in a quest or a battle.

Sowing Salt - Upon saying the words, "Salt heals all wounds." The weapons in his hands (must be two) are imbued with a rather peculiar power. His knives; upon hitting his opponent will increase any pain that his opponent feels, in effect doubling it. This ability cannot kill on its own, but with the daggers, it may open an opponent to attack. The duration of this ability is until Seth loses contact with one of his daggers. (This means if he drops one, both lose the imbuement)

Slow: Upon the mage saying the words "Life is passing you by," an orb of grey light forms in the hands of the mage. Upon hurling this ball at the speed of an arrow and hitting his opponent they will be slowed. The physical side effects are a feeling like running through water rushing against them. This spell at the moment only slows a person down to half speed. Usable once per thread and for the duration of two posts.

Eye for an Eye - If the Hex Mage has eye contact with his opponent he may activate this ability. By concentrating on a particularly painful memory the mage can force his opponent to experience incredible pain by saying the words, "You don't know the true meaning of pain." Only a battle hardened person may hope to fight through he pain and continue on. Usable once per thread.

Pain - Upon saying the words, "You will feel my pain" The pain that the Hex Mage is experiencing at that moment is transferred in a ten foot radius around him. Lasts a single post. This will not diminish the mage's pain; only share it with those around him. Usable once per page.(Page being fifteen posts)

Sin Harvest - This ability must charge up over a post while the Hex Mage stands still and in one spot. Upon saying the words, “Penance for your sins?” a ball of purple energy forms in the Hex Mages Hands. This ball may be held for two posts. If held to long or it makes contact with its target, this energy disperses over its target. The ability then looks back at the targets history over a month (goes farther back when upgraded) and for every sin committed it does two things;

1) Forgives the sins, making them untargetable by Sin Harvest again.
2) Deals damage for each sin committed physically in the form of cuts. The greater the sin is, the deeper the cut inflicted. This ability CAN kill. (NOTE: If this ability hits Seth, it will deal 1.5 times the damage it would have normally inflicted.)

Usable once a thread.

New Spells

Stop - Upon saying the words, "Times up" The Hex mage forms an orb of black light withing his hands. Throwing it at the speed of an arrow will cause a person to be halted in time. So long as Seth does not cast another spell, or make a move of aggression the spell will hold. However, any resistance by the victim will cause Seth to gradually grow physically ill, until such time as he vomits, releasing the spell. Also, any damage done to his victim also occurs to Seth. Usable once per thread.

Gift of the Magi – Once per thread the caster can heal every wound done to himself, however upon doing so the mage loses complete control of his body, as the magic takes over protecting them. Until such time as the mage is no longer in danger, the magic will continue to control him.
