Quest List:
New Risks (65) (http://www.althanas.com/world/showthread.php?t=3357)

Personality: When sober, which is a rare occurence, Berick is mellow and somewhat withdrawn, brooding on things of his past. When drunk, he is jovial and enjoys scrapping, brawling, fighting for money, anything to release physical aggression. Around friends he is jestful and seemingly a big kid. Even in his drunken stupors, he is incredibly loyal to his companions and would never use them as a form of released aggression. However, whether drunk or sober, Berick still has a kindred spirit towards children.

Appearance: Berick's weight comes solely from his corded muscles. His white hair runs down to his shoulders and is nice and thick. These were first gained by menial tasks of running a family, such as chopping wood, repairing his home, and other household chores. Once that life was put behind him, his muscles were toned and defined by the fights he became involved in. Scars from tavern brawls and street fights can be found all over his tanned body. His eyes are Ice Blue and his facial features are sharp and distinguished. His eyebrows are thin and accentuate his visage and facial expressions.

History:

Berick was married at the late (for his village) age of twenty-one. His wife, Merideth, bore him two sons and a daughter. He cared for his family faithfully and brought in money by working for a logging crew which supplied his village with the lumber for housing, firewood, and farming tools. It was this work that gave him his sturdy frame and strength. His life was no better than average and he often took it for granted. His love for his family, however, was unsurpassed.

However, at the age of 28, his family was stricken with a deadly illness that spread quickly through the village. Only a handful of men and women survived the disease, but no children had been strong enough to survive. After digging the graves for his family, and assisting in the burials of several other families graves, he finally broke. He sat in his house, let the place become run down and infested with vermin. He cut his hair completely off in mourning for his family. Many of his first scars came from his attempts to take his own life.

Six months after his family died, Berick discovered the release of alcohol and took it wholeheartedly. Every night he went to the local tavern and drank himself stupid. Having no enemy to blame for the death of his family, he took out his aggression on any man that gave him the wrong look. He often came home with bruises, cuts, and even broken bones from tavern fights. When he grew tired of those, he started joining fights that took place in the street for money. The money, of course, was further spent on alcohol. He quickly wasted away his savings on the drink and now solely sustains himself on his fighting habits.

The bartenders that have come to know him as a faithful patron consider him a hero amongst them simply because he rids those that would otherwise cause serious problems. Berick is always a delightful patron towards the suppliers of his habit, and in return, is often rewarded with free drinks and boastful stories. He has made a name for himself that he cares little about, but others that have heard of him do not take lightly. Nevertheless, some less savory characters see him as more of a challenge or a threat than a potential ally or friend. Bericks friends are limited to his four-legged companion Scraps, the remnants of his life before the drink, and the many bartenders he has come to know over his time.

His best friend, Rogis, who runs a small tavern close to his home village has given him the nickname "Lord Berick." A name given in jest as the Lord of the drink. Berick smiles politely whenever he is called this by his friend, and often retorts by referring to him as the "vendor." The two have known each other for many months and only grow closer with time and through all the fights that the bartender must witness.

On his first trip out of his small village, Berick came to a large tavern and fight club called the Zirnden. Here he met a new rival, Valient. While their first encounter ended up with him on the cusp between life and death, his vengence was hard and swift.

Skills:
Swordsmanship: Argis taught Berick how to wield and use a sword, but Berick only has a basic knowledge of the skill.

Drunken Rage: When Berick gets to drinking, his mind becomes numb to all else but the fight at hand, and is rarely distracted. His movements increase in speed and as long as he continues to drink, his stamina seems to be infinite.

Brawling: This skill comes from his many, many fights he has participated in. He can throw harder punches and kicks than a normal man. He also has the knowledge to fight effectively.

Weapon Inventiveness: When Berick gets into a serious fight, he can figure any item around him and make it into a weapon to use against his enemy. This includes poles, broken ale bottles, chairs, etc etc.

Equipment:

Weapons:
~Argis' Sword: A simple steel longsword
~Brass Knuckles: A necessity for a street fighter/brawler
~Steel Pole: A 3' pole that he found in the garbage and enjoys using it in fights.

Armor:
~Leather Coat: A standard Leather coat. With pockets!
~Jeans: Hey, a blessing to a street fighter. (Has pockets too)
~Leather Boots: Good sturdy foot material

Items:
~Canvas Pack: A backpack that can hold several items (namely his alcohol)
~Black Rum: A trademark rum made by Rogis, especially for Berick and is given to him free of charge. He usually carries several pints of this in his pack.
~Silver Stud: A form of whiskey that is very potent and can get even the biggest drunks tipsy in a few sips. A slight amount of metallic flakes gives it a shine of silver when held in the light. He usually only has a pint of this with him at any given time. One needs little more than that.
~Slack Jaw: Another form of Rum that has the potence of fire. One shot is guarnteed to make your jaw tingle and slur your speech. He carries A quart of this in his back.
~Fire Rum: A trademark Rum and strongest liquer made at the Zirnden.

Familiars: Scraps: Scraps is an middle-aged mutt (dog) that Berick had given to his son for a present. When his family was stricken with disease and died, the dog followed him around faithfully, and Berick holds the dog in high regard as the last piece of his family. The dog is incredibly loyal and is always there to lick his master's face after a long night in the tavern.
