Outside of Knife's Edge, Salvar is divided up into hundreds of different fiefdoms. Although these fiefdoms all differ in type, governance, size, and many other things, there are two things that are true for all of them. They are all sworn to obey the king in all things he commands and they are all sworn to allow at least one church for Salvar's official religion, the Church of the Ethereal Sway, to be constructed somewhere centrally located on the fiefdom (so the Church to oversee court cases involving crimes against the state and to report on the activities of the fief to the king.) Other than that, they can be as different as night and day. Your character might wander from a city ruled by an elected council to a small village ruled by a dictatorial madman. Or your character might travel from a port run by pirates to a mining colony run by a business. It's all up to you. You're free to make up whatever you like as long as you use the given info as best as you can.

Some general things to keep in mind about the geography of Salvar outside of Knife's Edge: the south is plains and farmlands criss-crossed with rivers, the coastal west is woodlands and farmlands, the northeast is mountainous, and the northwest is essentially one vast pine forest. The area immediately around Knife's Edge is a lush river valley with plenty of foothills, rivers, and farming estates around. Salvar is bordered by the ocean on the east and the west, the Ahyark Mountains in the south (through which several passes lead to Alerar,) and a frozen sea across which lies the mostly unexplored arctic continent of Berevar in the north. Check out the map if you want to get a better idea of this.

If you want your own fiefdom, check out the other stickied thread in this forum.
