Name: Dethel Renther
Age: 27
Race: Human
Hair Color: Dark Brown
Eye Color: Intense Cerulean
Height: 6'0"
Weight: 145 lbs
Occupation: Assassin/Ninja
Personality: Dethel has a cool and laid back persona laid upon his eyes and features, giving many the impression that he's just an average man. However, on the inside gears are constantly turning, his mind reviewing the many people he has killed. He is not a very trusting person, and can get angry and serious pretty quickly. However, he generally tries to keep up his facade of averageness up, and tries to often stay out of trouble. He is generally nice and personable, and he sets a large barrier between being a nice and good person and being a trusting person.
Appearance: Dethel has short dark brown hair, that comes halfway down his forhead, and goes down halfway down his neck. His eyes are a cerulean blue, and the iris is very intricate. He has a common light tan complexion, and his lips, nose, head shape, and ears are nothing more than that of an average young man. He is somewhat tall, and has a very light build. Despite his light body, he is somewhat muscular, and is decently strong.
History:
As a young boy, Dethel was well cared for by a loving mother, and a supporting father. As he grew up he tended the small farm his parents owned, and suspected that he would continue living as a farmhand, and eventually marry and take over the farm. Thinking of really nothing more than the plow and horses, he was quite surprised when his father asked if he would like to learn to use swords. He was only about sixteen, and was simply amazed that his father had offered. He had envisioned travelling every day at sunrise to some old mans house, and being instructed there, but to his further amazement, his father himself was very proficient with the sword. He continued to tend the farm, but learned much from his father, especially about being quite about attacking.
He wondered why his father knew how to use a sword so well, and his answer came quite quickly. He had had a short work day, and was lying on his bed trying to fall asleep when he heard his parents talking in stern voices. They obviously thought he was asleep, and he got up and walked over to the doorway, but kept out of sight. They were talking about his father killing someone... And how the gaurd had found his glove at the scene. Dethel easily put two and two together, and could see that the reason his father knew the sword was that he must be some sort of fighter or assassin. He knew his father loved him, and always talked about him "taking up the family business."
He had always thought he meant the farm... But know he figured he meant whatever shady business his father was involved in. He decided quickly, both out of wanting to please his father and his teenager mind considering assassins to be amazingly "cool", and confronted his father in his sword lesson the next day. He explained how he had heard the conversation, and his father just stood there, looking at him. Then, his father remarked how he had matured well, and learned the sword to great extents. Then, he asked if Dethel really wanted in on this business, telling him that once he knew he could never go back to being a farmhand. Simply out of sheer teenager angst, Dethel quickly said yes, and his father explained. He was a sort of bounty hunter, one of his friends sold some especially strong drinks and other less legal materials, and if he ever had trouble with a client, he sent Dethel's father off to 'deal' with the client.
His father was getting old however, and more clumsy, shown by the glove left at the scene. If Dethel wanted to learn, he'd need to learn fast. His father continued his sword instruction, and had him run a lot to increase his stamina and strengt. Dethel still found the idea pretty amazing, and was excited when his father gave him his first target, when he was twenty-four years old. Dethel had never really thought of killing someone, and once he had broken in to the man's house, an easy task, he made his way quickly into the sleeping man's room. He put his sword an inch away from the snoring man's throat, and then stopped. He was going to kill someone.
Steal a life, take the single most precious possession of a human... Kill. An evil and illegal act... The gaurd would easily find him, and he'd either be killed or outcast from Scara Brae, where he lived. Deciding that he could never go back, as his father said, he decided he needed to take this man's life. It was the man's or Dethel's, as the shady dealer would surely have Dethel killed if he didn't complete the job. Lifting up the sword, he took it over his shoulder, and swung down hard on the man's next, making a large gash. The man let out a muffled sound, and gasped a few times, before coughing up some blood and letting his head roll off at a strange angle.
Closing his eyes as he pushed the sword all of the way through, he clenched the man's hair in his hand, and took the head as he left, as he was instructed to do. He was regretting his decision, and wished that he had fallen asleep. However, he knew that he had chosen his path, and would need to remain. He returned to the dealer's house, and gave him the man's head with disgust. He washed off his glove, and the man payed him, a hefty sum. He returned to his father, who didn't appear to share the worry of killing someone. He was glad his son had chosen this path, and due to his father's happiness, he decided that there was no point considering tring to leave his new job. He continued this, taking targets every so often, and bringing a good deal of money to his family.
However, his father was already old, and died when Dethel was about twenty-six. He continued the work, supporting his mother, and tending the farm. However, his mother couldn't stand life without her husband, and quickly succumbed to a passing disease, her body left without cause to fight the sickness. Left alone, he sold off the farm, and bought a small house with his earnings, and took a small job at a local pub serving drinks. It was an easy five hour shift on Thursday and Friday, but after a while he decided a day job wasn't needed to cover his more dirty business.
He retired at age twenty-seven, and said he was living off the "family fortune" that his father had inherited from Dethel's grandfather. This was a lie, but it was enough to satisfy the common people that he needed to converse with. He continued to work for the shady dealer, still somewhat young, and became a decent assassin.
Skills: Dethel's skills have been learned during his assassinations, and are moderately advanced in nature.
Acrobatics: Dethel can perform decent acrobatics and evasive manuevers, such as running fast, swining around poles, launching off walls, and some vaults and flips. These help him evade the enemy, and also launch more surprising attacks.
Swordsmanship: Dethel can use most swords to a decent degree, but specializes in katanas and other thin and light swords. He can attack quickly, and perform decent combat maneuvers with swords. However, his choice of light swords and fighting style sometimes lacks in damage, and he generally relies on his attack speed.
Equipment: Dethel's gear is somewhat primitive. He has a basic sword capable of average damage, and armor that is not very protective.
