Appearance

-Vorx is not by any means attractive. Perhaps he is interesting, the way abstract art is. He has a pale white complexion due to the low amount of blood that passes to his skin. His face is haunting and resembles a ghoul strongly except for the horns. His eyes are milky white like blind people, but he doesn’t have a colored iris to show through. The skin is almost wrinkleless and drawn taut across his face, low amounts of flesh lend to a skull like impression. At the top of his head just as it begins to slope down back towards the neck protrude three one-inch diameter horns that extend straight down and reinsert into his back just between the shoulder blades. The horns have a slight space between each of them and have small grey rings one centimeter apart all the way down. His teeth are about the same as humans except smaller and more numerous and always completely white. His nose is flat and very small, almost snake-like.

As a Chronos, Vorx’s body is fairly irregular. His most apparent and irregular feature is definitely his arms, in that he has four. Where the ribcage would be on most humanoids a second set of arms protrude from the sides. These are just as strong and have a slightly greater range of movement although they can still not reach directly behind him. He only has the normal two legs that most humanoids do. His feet are shaped strangely, the leg thinning and going into ankle and farther down into a three toed short foot, similar to the palm of a hand without fingers. A feature that a rare few people see and live to tell the tale are Vorx’s most important parts. Out of his back can extend four eleven-foot long blood red tendrils that are fully maneuverable and can apply as much as thirty pounds of force. It is with these tendrils that he drains essence from other things, but they are delicate and can easily be cut, though they are extremely stretchy and flexible and possess no real bones and are therefore impossible to break.

His internal anatomy is almost as strange, lacking many of the systems the humans he so resembles have. He doesn’t have any real digestive or respiratory systems, but instead has a large blood renewal and minor defense systems. One system maintains the amount of blood in his system and replaces any cells that die and distributes energy throughout the body, the other producing microscopic repair cells as well as parasites. The repair cells travel through the body cleaning and maintaining other cells and are produced as needed. The parasites travel through the blood stream waiting to be deposited and are destroyed by the repair cells before they fester in Vorx.

The abnormal structure causes Vorx to have a slim build with a recessed stomach and prominent ribcage and makes him look sickly thin and bare-boned. To hide this he often wears over-large clothing as well as layers. He commonly wears dark red pants that extend several inches farther then his feet so that no one will unintentionally see them. He doesn’t typically wear and kind of shirt because they restrain his second set of arms as well as less typical appendages, but covers himself instead with two separate cloaks. These cloaks are actually thick black sheets that he has punctured numerous holes in as well as a prominent hole for his head, each sheet reaching the floor on all sides of him. He is able to move his hands through the holes freely while covering himself enough to blend into most human societies as long as he isn’t closely scrutinized.

Personality

-Vorx is a very serious person. He has a near fanatical devotion to Morderic and takes his duties very seriously. Although he is not one to waste time idling around, he will take time to attempt to see the larger picture. He appreciates power in most forms and holds tremendous respect for those select few that are a complete person and hold tremendous energy in their souls. He tries to balance these elements of his personality and is only successful in that they revolve around his passion for combat.

Weapons

-Vorx has no weapons at this time.

Armor

-Only his clothes, which are linen.

Traits

-Parasite: When Vorx’s blood gets onto another living being the parasites in his blood burrow through and infect their host, eating away muscle mass until about the size of a worm and then traveling to the brain and attacking the brain stem. The process of moving to the brain after growing to full size takes approximately a month during which the parasite will be visible as a long bulge against the skin and must be removed. Only one parasite can develop at a time even though there was many initially. If the parasite isn’t removed it will kill the host by stopping oxygen to the brain and then taking over the body for three to four days before the host body is completely dead. There is a better than average chance that an average human immune system won’t be afflicted, stronger immunities are drastically more likely to stop the parasites.

-Mobility: Vorx was born with the gift to climb. The cells on his hands and feet are able to move slightly so that they become extremely coarse and hook on materials and then just as easily turning back so he can slip on again. This allows him to climb on almost any dry surface similar to the way a spider does.

-Tinder: Vorx doesn’t have very many fluids in his body and is overall pretty dry, especially since he doesn’t sweat. This makes him exceptionally weak to fire and he can even ignite from electricity. When he is exposed to fire it will easily and quickly spread over his body and quickly burn through flesh rapidly. Although it is possible for him to suppress the fire if he is quick enough, too long a time or too large an area and he will die within two minutes at the most. The amount of fire on a torch could kill him in under a minute even with him trying to put it out.

-Senses: Vorx is completely blind. He is however able to sense essence, in a generalized visual aura way. He is able to tell the type of essence, amount, position, and shape, but that’s all. This enables him to locate targets and track them effectively but movement is not so good. Defending himself is difficult unless it is against a powerful being that has a large and well defined essence.

-Trailblazers: Those that create their own destinies and make their own way in the world are especially strong against Vorx. When someone puts their entire being behind an action, when they really put their soul into it and follow through, they are unstoppable. When someone that goes about everything they do that way, encounters Vorx, they are significantly stronger than he is. A mere punch to the chest with enough essence behind it would be as a cannon ball to the chest, likely ripping a hole through his body. Their enhanced effect on him is a result of his body’s receptiveness to energy.

Racial

-Hunger: Chronos must devour essence. It is their life goal and everything they do ultimately leads to this in some way. They consume everything they can; heat and electricity, magical energy, holy and unholy energy, but what they crave the most is the energy, the essence of the soul. Of the few beings that possess souls they all have incredible defenses, making it very difficult. A body cannot be killed as that allows the soul to pass on and the conscious acts as an impenetrable barrier that buffers the world from reaching the soul. Therefore the only ways in which to get to the soul are through people that are extremely emotional and weakened, or through children that have yet to build-up a defense. When a soul’s essence is devoured it causes the body to age rapidly and depletion of the soul causes the body to turn to dust. When the essence of magic is “eaten” it doesn’t weaken the source of the magic but may cause a shortage in objects or a slowing in the case of magical people. If this hunger is not fed often it will cause the Chronos’s body to decay rapidly. If one were to go as long as two weeks without feeding then their body would be decayed to the point of half-mass, after which there is no recovering. The exception to this is when the body is recovering from a sever wound during which essence is devoured from the Chronos’s own soul.

-Recovery: When a Chronos receives a wound the flesh surrounding it closes up within minutes and immediately stops blood flow. Although the wound is closed it is not healed and being damaged again will increase the time needed to heal significantly. Minor wounds such as cuts and scrapes can be healed within two days, deeper cuts such as gashes and muscle punctures can take more than a week, large deep cuts and secondary system damages and broken bones can take as much as a month, primary system damages and large flesh removal takes at least a month and much more depending on severity. Damage to the primary systems almost always mean a temporary death during which the Chronos is by all means dead until the cells have been repaired and he is revived. While Chronos do have incredible regenerative abilities they are unable to recover from amputated appendages assuming the entire appendage was amputated exactly at the joint.

Items

-He has no items on him at the moment.

History

-The Chronos were created by the god Morderic and are his representation on Althanas. Morderic was just a minor god, a god of little consequence as for as most were concerned. But it was from his jealousy that Vorx was born. He was one of the few, the select, the ones that would raise their god to power and rule under him. That was the plan anyways. In reality Morderic was of little impact to anyone except for the Chronos. To them he gave power and knowledge and purpose.

Vorx was created and taught by Morderic through meditation, taught what to do and why he should do it. It was simple enough, a prolonged form of killing. It was something he excelled at, something he was literally born to do. The thing that set him apart from his brethren was that he was the first of a new generation. Morderic had felt that the previous versions had lacked something, some driving motivation. After examining the other species placed on Althanas, he reached a solution. The Chronos needed free will. They needed some reason to live other then to serve, and so he had allowed Vorx to have a will of his own, paying close attention for improvement. The results were unexpected, success beyond compare.
