Fallen King
01-12-07, 07:39 PM
Name: Vernon Lenore formally known as the K.O. King
Age: 32
Race: Human
Eye color: Dull blue
Hair Color: Dirty brown
Height: 6’1”
Weight: 215
Occupation: Vagrant
Alignment: Good

Personality: Vernon is not a happy man. He has fallen into alcoholism and depression. He can be a relatively nice guy and likes to see justice done and will occasionally to help people out. He can’t stand bullies and hates criminals more (especially ones belonging to the Radasanth Crime Syndicate). He tends to be low on spirits and very pessimistic at times. However when he is in a good mood which is becoming increasingly rare sparks of his former self can be seen and he seems to gain a little extra bounce in his step and his voice seems to gain a slight bit of it’s youth back not to mention that in these rare moods the ex prize fighter is much more enjoyable to be around.

Appearance: At one point Vernon was quite the specimen with a chiseled physique, clean face and well kept hair and eyes. These times are long since gone and time has not been kind to the vagrant. The skin of Vernon is tan and rough, his body large but no longer so chiseled, though there are still a few signs from when it was. His ever-receding hair is dirty brown and always mess, as is his face which is unshaven with a shaggy beard and full of dirt. His eyes which once held such luster, are now dull and sad. He wears dirty cloths, and old white cotton shirt, a pair of brown denim jeans and a raggedy old leather jacket. His feet are adorned with old leather shoes. On his right pectoral muscle is a tattoo of a crown; under it are the words “K.0. King”, it is a harsh reminder of what Vernon had once been. On the cold nights he can often be found wearing a dirty old tattered gray cloak.

Equipment:

1 Leather jacket

1 Tattered old wool cloak

1 Cotton shirt

1 Pair of denim pants

2 Told leather shoes

2 Steel knuckles

1 Bronze lighter

1 Pack of cigarettes

Skills:

Hand to Hand Combat: At one point Vernon was one of the most dangerous hand to had fighters in all of Althanas. Yet time away from the ring as dulled his reflexes, weakened his strength, slowed his speed, and damaged his coordination and technique. However he is still slightly above average in hand to hand combat. His technique mostly involves him using his size and power to his advantageous with quick and hard strikes and tackles. He knows a little bit of wrestling, enough that the average, untrained human would have a hard time taking him down as well as a few basic submission holds (though nothing fancier than a guillotine hold or a full nelson) that he rarely uses any more.

High Pain Tolerance: A passive skill that also resulted from Vernon’s former career as a mixed martial artist, the man has a pain tolerance slightly higher than that of your average man (its about that of a trained fighter). It is also slightly harder to knock him out physically.

History:

Vernon grew up in the slums of Radasanth to a poor working class family. His mother was a maid who worked for rich families where as his father was a struggling blacksmith. When Vernon was young things seemed to work fine. Life was hard but his parents seemed to care for him and as a family they stuck together. Yet as Vernon began to grow older into his early teen years, the toll the poor life was taking on him and his family began to grow very apparent. Vernon ended up with a bad crowd and dropped out of school while his father seemed to sink deeper and deeper into the bottle. It didn’t take long for Vernon to realize that while his father usually meant well the man was a very angry drunk and the fact the Vernon dropped out of school didn’t help. His mother forgave him for it but his father would not. Lenore’s relationship only continued to get worse as did his father’s drinking. The two began to fight often with more than a few of those fights turning physical. By the time Vernon turned 16 he ended up in a very bad fight with his father and as a result got kicked out of the house.

Not long after that Vernon ended up working as a waiter at some low class pub. It was while working there that he would attend the mixed martial arts fights and the local gym a few blocks away from the pub that he worked and lived at. The fights quickly fascinated the teenager and he ended up becoming enthralled in them. Before long he began to pay attention to the paper, which listed results and stuff for the bigger fights in the AFL (Althanas Fighter’s League), which played at bigger far more high-class venues all over the world. It didn’t take long before Vernon quit his lousy job at the pub and started trying to get into mixed martial arts. He had just turned 18.

Vernon started out in the minor leagues that nobody had ever heard of fighting a bunch of no name fighters. This was probably a good thing as his first fights were absolute disasters with that resulted in him getting the living hell beaten out of him. Yet unlike a lot of the other fighters in his league Vernon wasn’t stupid. He learned from his losses, studied the fighters techniques, and sparred with people well above his level. By the time he turned 22 Vernon had quite an impressive win-loss streak and had been nick named the K.O King due to the fact that at least 9 out of every 10 win he got was from a win.

Having gained a name for himself in the lesser known leagues the 22 year old was invited to join the AFL, something that delighted him to no bounds. Once inside the AFL Vernon found himself against much tougher opponents and his win loss record started to worsen again. For a while he was an under card, fighting in matches that weren’t magically broadcasted all over the world. Yet over the next 4 years Vernon once again began to adapt and work his way up and it wasn’t long before spectators and especially the fighters began to learn exactly how he had earned the moniker K.O. King.

When Vernon was 26 years old destiny struck and it was for the best. The night before a major fight against the long time champion at the Grand Arena in Serenti the number one contender was injured and the next runner up was unwilling to fight the champion on such short notice. Vernon seized the opportunity and offered to fight the champ, even on one day’s notice. That night was like a classic fairy tale and it ended after a bloodied and battered Vernon managed to knock the champ out after a grueling 45 minute long fight. That night was the happiest day of the fighter’s life.

Vernon went on to hold the championship for nearly 3 years stopping all foes in their tracks. He was living the high life eating at nice restaurants, rubbing elbows with some of the most famous celebrities on Althanas. He even bought a large mansion and let his mother move in (his father had died of liver failure several years before). Yet it was all about to come to an end very soon.

During the last year of his title reign another kid had entered the AFL, a young fighter by the name of Jason Gnorix. The boy had not talent, little speed and even less strength but the kid did have once very big advantage, a connection with the RCS. Still Vernon was to busy fighting in the main event of high profile shows and living the good life to bother to recognize some simple upstart. Even as he was approaching the third year of his title reign and was scheduled to defend the championship against the kid he didn’t worry about the kid’s connections. As far as the champ was concerned the kid would become yet another name on a long list of people he had knocked out. This would prove to be a very big mistake.

The night before the fight two thugs from the RCS approached Vernon. The thugs told him that he was supposed to lose to the kid because the boss had a vested interest in him. At the champ was of course appalled by the statement having fought so hard to gain and keep the championship. Needless to say he had no intention of throwing a fight to some rich little prick of a kid, something he made quite clear to the thugs.

That night Vernon amid the cheer of thousands of fans destroyed the kid. Never had the champ been in such a one sided fight especially not since becoming the champion and having some of the best martial artist in the world fight him. In under 30 seconds the champ had laid the kid out flat was a cracked skull and a sever concussion.

As he left the arena that night he was once again approached by the thugs who were this time carrying large metal clubs. They beat the hell out of him leaving him a bloodied mess in the street and things would only get worse from there. He woke up the next morning in a hospital bed only to find out his house had been burnt down and his mother had died in the fire. The arsonist was never found though the champion knew exactly who the culprits were. And still things continued to get worse.

The RCS ran deep as Vernon found out. The slandered his name, had every fighter and fight fan in Corone believing the champion abused steroids and buffing spells. With in a matter of months Vernon was stripped unceremoniously of his title, which he never officially lost and banned from the AFL.

Having no trade skills, Vernon had finally hit rock bottom. Everything he owned had been burnt in that house fighter. He was unable to join any fighting league; even boxing and wrestling ones which he tried to join as a last resort. He was too old to join the armed forces and too poor leave Corone. Vernon had nothing left and that’s the way things have been for him ever since.

Wow, another down-and-out H2H fighter. Nice.

This is approved! The linking account option is still out of order as far as I know, so I can't help you there.
