Racial Appearance: The demons appear to be very similar to that of any of the major sentient races on Althanas. They have two arms, two legs, a torso, and a head. However, the similarities end there. Adult male demons stand much taller than humans, most averaging out around eight feet in height. Adult female demons are a bit shorter, usually between six and seven feet tall. Demons typically have around three times the muscle mass of humans, though often the mass is tightly packed. This creates an underestimation of the demon’s actual strength as he can be quite thin. Demons typically have non-standard hair colors: green, blue, red, and silver all being possibilities. Skin color is the same way, typically running genetically through a families lineage.

Racial Attributes: There a numerous unique attributes attached to the demon race. Due to their time in Haidia, they have acquired a resistance to extreme heat. This resistance allowed them to live in the harsh temperatures of Haidia. Haidian Demons have a rather long longevity, though not at the level of the elves. Typically, demons will live between eight hundred and nine hundred years. The few who live to be one thousand are hailed as the wisest elders and are given very special treatment. There are no current thousand year Demons. Demons also have an incredibly tough skin. It is highly prized in many circles for its resistance to blades and other weapons. Normally, when it is on the demon, it can protect them from cuts and bruises, as well as slow stabs and other major wounds. It has to be specially treated before it is as resistant as that which is sold on the black market. The only major weakness that the demon race has is an incredible blood lust. Over time, they have been able to control that weakness, but in situations of incredible duress, the demons will go insane and attack any living being.

Demon Leadership: Demon Leadership is split into two categories, the People and the Army. Each acts as a separate entity, to ensure that neither gains too much power. This system of government is often hailed as faulty, because the Demon Army could easily wrench control of the People from the royal family. However, this has never happened in the short history of this system of government.

Royal Family: The Atron Royal Family has been in power since the Demon War. After the war, the people of Haidia disbanded the War Council and decided upon a split government. In control of the people, handling the passing and judging of laws would be the new royal family, lineage of Darthos Atron. Over the two-thousand year period between the Demon War and the present, Darthos passed the crown to his son Killos, who then passed it to his son Theos, and it now rests upon his very young ten year old boy Aidos. Many have little faith in the child king, but with the backing of the Demon Army, the naysayers are quelled. Despite his age, Aidos is managing the shift to Haide quite well.

High General: While the new royal family would be lineage based, the High General of the Demon Army would be passed down by merit, deemed by the previous High General. The original High General was Teleron Dinmos, great grandfather of current General Zaketh ag’ Dinmos. Teleron passed the leadership role to Zaerth Taros, who then passed it to his son Rakthean. At his death by a fire dragon, Rakthean passed it on to Zieg Tulfried who now holds the role.

Xaliel: Xaliel is being constructed as the new Capitol city of Haide. Due to the Demon’s recent military loss at the hands of the Dwarves, they are effectively attempting to turn the city into a giant military fortress to keep the citizens and the young King safe. However, at the moment the city is less than halfway completed and is being constructed out of the ruins of one of The Ancient’s cities. Unlike the Fae though, the Demons are not preserving the city, instead they are taking it down block-by-block and rebuilding it to their own specifications. The only building that is remaining was a large one towards the North section of the city that was in rather good condition. They are currently repairing that as a palace and fortress for the King.

Besides the Palace, the Demons have mainly started building a large stonewall around the city, including roughly one mile of empty space between the wall and the first set of structures. The wall itself is only partially completed, leaving a little over half of this massive stone structure as a wooden skeleton that the Demons are trying to erect as quickly as possible. Inside the wall, most of the city is still in ruins leaving almost all the Demon population to live in makeshift wooden homes in the outskirts between the city in the wall, which will later on be used as farmland. After many years of disuse the ruins were overrun with monsters that are slowing down construction as the Demons are forced to hunt then down and kill them.

This city is serving as the major outpost for military operations and much of what is left of the Demon army is located here, helping with the construction of the city. The Magim beasts, which slowly need to adjust to the colder climate, are also found here, all of them being kept in cages for the safety of those around.

Vla’toros: Vla’toros is located in the craw of one of the largest cave structures from which the demons emerged. The outer mouth of the cave is only about three thousand feet across and thirty feet tall, making it wide and rather short. However, directly the outer rock barrier, the cave widens immensely, to about two miles across. Several other adjacent caves in all directions have been acquired as well, beginning a very maze-like area. Like all of the other cities in Haide, it is still under construction, though a majority of the buildings are wood and not stone.

The incredibly defendable nature of the cave means that eloquence, not strength, is the focus of this beautiful town. Under the guidance of Dera’losta’nofa, one of the Elven Weaponsmiths, a well-planned graceful city is emerging from the rough appearance of the cave. He serves as the mayor of the town, with the people of the city supporting him fully.
