Hmm...What tidbits can I throw in now? The swastika, the symbol of the Nazi party and anti-semetism, is roughly based upon the Hebrew letter Aleph, symbolizing an ox. It can also be found on Hindu and Buddhist sculptures. It's amazing the kinds of symbols that can be found all over the world.

The swastika was meant to be a sign of peace and tranquility. However, the fascist Nazi Political-Party turned it into a sign representing oppresion and hatred. It is supposed to look like a four-petaled flower, though I'm not sure if the name was based off of the flower or not. Either way, the Nazis made it bad. In ancient times, the symbol was used in many cultures. Another theory is that the symbol was based of the bright unique emission pattern of a comet that passed by Earth around that time, showing the symbol to the entire world.

I don't like Nazis. They're mean. That and I am the pinnacle of evil in their eyes. I have backgrounds from over 11 cultures, including Jewish(haven't ever told anyone that).

As for compliments, yes Zook, you are a freak. And that's a good thing. Nobody likes someone who's completely normal. Freakiness is what makes life pleasant. I know I certainly am a freak. I have an elf for an alternate personality, for goodness sake.

The swastika, held as a diamon and not a square, is a Buddhist and Hindu symbol of peace. It is also a Celtic symbol rune, but I haven't studied those too much.

Waa!!! Direct mystical ancestry!!! And I'm like the DnD-style sorceress...at least I have my abilities...they don't rely on pendulums, runes, candles, powders, or any other such components. And it is there that I have you beat, Karuka.

Still, if you have the tenacity to craft your own runes, that's rather impressive. From what I can remember of ritualistic rune-carving, it takes a large amount of spiritual energy to carve a permanent rune, one that doesn't fade after a single use. The upside is that permanent runes recharge themselves much like the shamans and druidae who create them. Thus, it takes much less energy from the caster to cast a spell using a rune as a base.

And what's so bad about ritual magic? Rituals enhance the spell, providing focus and control, as well as acting as a catalyst to lower the energy requirements. As such, a skilled Qabbalist must know what rituals to perform when, and will constantly have a prayer and ritual ready for any situation. Talismans, blessings, wards and seals, etc. That's the result of ritual magic. Lasting magic.
