Based on the Althanaversary Info thread, there were still some unanswered IC questions regarding this tournament, namely the story or lack thereof.
Questions to be answered:
1. Do we want to give the tournament an IC name?
I will make the first, albeit terrible, suggestion to get things started. Ready for it...wait...wait...it really is bad...
Rumble in Radasanth (or The Radasanth Rumble)
There, now every suggestion after this will feel like it has some merit.
2. If we do name the tourney, do we need a back story or is just being able to call it something enough?
Disucss.
They argued this in the information thread. Apparently, it has no IC premise, unless you want to give it one yourself. Other than that, you're on your own when it comes to creating a conflict between your character and his/her opponent.

Hmmm, I just re-read the Info thread and the discussion seems to end before a resolution is completely reached, but I guess no IC works. It will make it a bit weird, but that is ok. I can think of ways I would like to at least have a NAME for the tournament and IC knowledge that it is in fact a tournament to explain one round proceeding to the next, but I can live without it.
I'll probably just start calling it The Radasanth Rumble for the fun of it.

Well, if you want to keep it out of the idea of an IC tournament, you could just steal some carrots and Farmboy would catch you at it. >.>

Oh, I can find ways of making each battle. What would help would be connectedness between the battles, but I will figure something out.
Nother question:
Do/Can these battles take place in The Citadel?
Otherwise, you have to be careful not to die, cause being dead sucks.
Sorry for all my confusion, I have never done a tourney before and don't really know how they work.
In regard to the dying issue... In all tournaments here on Althanas the participating characters are revived/healed at the end of the battle unless they prefer otherwise. I think the same rule applies here.
As for the IC name/backstory, I too would like to see that because random battles don't make much sense. But since this thing is just around the corner, I don't see that happening.

Perhaps...the name of the tournament is the Althanaversary (unless someone can come up with a better one) and it is a celebration of the anniversary of the end of the Demon Wars or something like that. That's just off the top of my head.
In what region is it taking place?

Wow. No backstory for the tournament? How are you guys supposed to be able to write good stuff without a backstory?
Maybe Althanaversary ICly can be the equivilant of our Earth Day in real life, and to celebrate Althanas' Earth Day you could hold an international tournament.
Or it can be like the Olympics!

All you have to do is make your own backstory o_O Make it so your character is participating in a tournament, or something. No IC backstory for the Althanaversary shouldn't bring down your creativity in the slightest. It should actually help!
I know I appreciate not having to think up a reason for Luc to enter yet another tournament.

There is just one problem with this idea that I see. If my character is entering a tournament, but the next character he meets ISN'T in the same tournament ICly, you end up with conflicting stories. Same with any set of storylines. Oh well, I suppose we will see how it works out. I will be interested to see how everyone approaches it.

As far as I understand it, this is only a tournament in the OOC sense. ICly, it's just a string of battles that oh-so conveniently happen to take place starting tomorrow. I don't plan on RPing it as a tournament at all, actually. It may be a trial to figure out why each battle is taking place, especially if your character tends to be the type not to pick a fight, but it can be done. I certainly have an idea in mind for my first battle, anyway.
EDIT: My first battle as Elrundir, that is. I can't really have one for Christina since the matchups haven't been announced. But you know what I mean. I should really remember to use that quick-switch feature...
Yeah, you see... I'm going to be working this with Dirge as a large tournament in honor of the aniversary to celebrate the end of the Age of Darkness of Corone. I can't think of any other reason, but I figure if anything it'd have to be something that that we could use every year... heh.
In all honesty though, I figure people on Althanas are creative enough to come up with their own little reasons to be fighting.
