This match-up will last until 8 P.M. E.S.T. on 2/23/07. Remember, if you finish your battle early, I can score you early - and finishing early is a good, good thing always.

Best of luck!

Dusk.

It was a relieving thing to see after a long and tedious day, even though the sun may still be high in the outside world. Lying back against a tall tree, Dresden swept his given arena with a lazy but careful gaze. Nothing about it was necessarily natural, for after about twenty-five feet in all directions from the tree the flat grassy land ended. Past that, only clouds lingered, and most of these clouds were below eye level. Despite the sense of altitude, there was no added pressure and he could breathe easily. The tree he sat against was an apple tree that probably reached eighty feet. Earlier, when he had looked over the edge, he had seen they were at the top of an unbelievably tall stone pillar with a cracked and broken surface. The breaks in the rock were probably from the enormous roots of the apple tree. Some of them stood out above the ground, and the ones that did were so massive Dresden could barely fit his arms around them. On one of those, he now sat, waiting for his opponent.

It might have been a mistake to request nothing other then it being around night, but it was too late to change that now. At least it was dark enough.

Facing him, where his opponent would arrive, was a white doorframe with light shining through. The disembodied door led to the Citadel, and there the Monks of Ai’Bron would be finding a suitable opponent for him to face. Hopefully they would choose someone who wasn’t stupid enough to go and fall off the cliff or something inane like that. These roots would get in the way, and if they weren’t an aware individual a false step could be the disappointing end of a battle. They were definitely taking their dear sweet time.

It had been only an hour since he was standing, just as bored as he currently is, on a Radasanthian roof watching the procession of the Bazaar. Dresden did this often, looking for rogues and thieves to catch and steal from, or maybe a tasty looking person to feast on later that night. He would follow them back to their homes, make a mental note of the address, and then give a special house call as soon as the sun fell. The nights were long, the food great, and the people ignorant. But all of it was boring him, this lack of challenge in the lifestyle he resigned into. It would still be nearly half a year before the next Samhein came around, and until then, he had nothing to do.

Lorenor and Leir used to spend their nights hunting down the warriors in a city, ripping out their hearts and feeding greedily on their blood. Races would be held to see which could tear apart more victims and collect the most hearts by midnight. Those were the true good old days. Standing on the brink of society with his true love and staring down in satisfaction at the destruction they caused. Back when his name was still Leir. When Sabbat stood in the back of people’s minds as a fear of death.

Now he had another name, Dresden, and was sitting in a Citadel arena waiting for an opponent who may or may not show. How far he had fallen to succumb to such mundane actions. Sometimes he regretted breaking out of that twisted daylight prison, for there at least he had challenges.

Damn…life sucks…
