Jaleco

There Jaleco stood, at the threshold of the Peaceful Promenade. The night wind whistled past his ears like a distant freight train echoing through the air. He entered the tavern hoping to find a spare room. "Is there a room available here?" He politely asked the Tavern's owner.

"We just filled up, my apologies. You're welcome to stay for a drink if you'd like," He replied greedily.

"Well my apologies as well, I don't drink," Jaleco lied.

Jaleco abandoned the place, wondering where else he could rest in Underwood."There's always the ground," he thought out loud.

As he walked toward the edge of the town, the silence was replaced by the rustling of leaves. Jaleco's hand automatically moved onto the hilt of his sword. A ferret rushed out of the bush on his right and scurried up a tree. Jaleco ran his hand through his thick, silky white hair in relief.

Jaleco got a fire started and was soothed by it's warmth. He layed back and staired at the embers floating up to greet the bright stars. There, he rested at the day's end.

Morning dawned on Jaleco sooner than he expected. Underwood greeted him with birdsong and the sun's shining brilliance. He stretched his arms and legs as far as they allowed him. The coals from the fire somehow burned throughout the night. He smuthered them with a bucket of cold water.

Jaleco set off from Underwood, for it had little to offer. He headed for the coast, looking for some boat to tranport him to Scara Brae. He would take a rowboat if he had to. Anything was, in his mind, better than this bore. He wasn't the type to be easily amused.

Jaleco's pace was quick and his robe fluttered with the impatience of his stride. He stopped at the edge of town and, with the little gold he had, bought a horse for the journey. He spurred the steed onward, leaving a trail of dust floating in the air behind him.

To be continued in Scara Brae

Leo was laying on the side of the rode asleep looking like he was mugged. But he hadn't got mugged. He was just asleep on the side of the rode. But if anyone were to pass he would look like he did get mugged. Then a horse came galloping down the road and the rider would notice a body on th side of the road.
