Aryr de Morte
03-18-07, 01:51 AM
Name: Aryr de Morte the XXV (Twenty-Fifth)
Age: 23 (18 in a 12 month calendar)
Race: Eulaen
Hair Color: Black
Eye Color: Black
Height: 5' 11"
Weight: 187 pounds
Occupation: Commander of the Royal Guard

History:
Aryr de Morte is the son of High Priest Aryr de Morte the XXIV (Twenty-Fourth) and as such will take over the Temple of Infinity when his father dies. After being born, Aryr was baptized (in wine, as is custom in Eulaea) and quickly given the Rituals of Deliverance. In the Rituals of Deliverance and oracle attempts to predict the future eye color of the child so the parents may make necessary preparations to train them as soon as their eyes turn. Aryr’s color was predicted to be black and at the age of five, sure enough, they turned black.

Aryr was immediately being trained as a warrior and secondly learned the religion as he is supposed to take over the Temple one day. In training to be in the Royal Guard, Aryr flourished, having natural talent as a warrior and strategist. After nearly 10 years of training (5 years in a 12-month calendar) Aryr was enlisted into the Royal Guard. His first taste of battle was against House J’nu who have vicious and cruel warriors. Aryr proved himself a valuable asset by killing nearly thirty foes.

Aryr quickly moved up in the ranks and is now Commander of the Royal Guard. He has taken it upon himself to obtain most of the land that House Morte now possesses and is more of a military genius than his father who rules over House Morte could ever hope to be.

During a campaign into J’nu territory the Royal Guard took a prisoner and he told them he was only a merchant from a land called Salvar. Aryr took it upon himself to obtain sea charts from the merchant and then set out to explore and find this land, hoping to one day conquer it and use the resources against J’nu and Guerdu.

Appearance:
Aryr has a darkly handsome face with a lip piercing, as is the custom for the Priests and sons of Priests in the Temple of Infinity. He has smooth black hair and his irises are black, making his eyes stand out the most. Standing almost six feet tall, Aryr’s muscles are strong and well toned, making him a threatening figure to anyone not as tall or muscular. Aryr wears gold steel shin guards with leather sandals on his feet. Aryr also wears slightly loose black cloth pants and has gold steel bracers to protect his forearms. Aryr also wears the purple cape of House Morte and the Temple of Infinity. (Think toga-like). He has a place to put his shield on his back but must carry his spear in his hand.

Personality:
Despite his background as royalty, Aryr is not the usual snobbish type. He has a great sense of duty and honor to his land and men and would gladly die for any one of his men to live another day. Aryr will do what is right unless it threatens his safety unnecessarily or the safety of his country or House. Aryr doesn’t like being by himself too much although he needs his time like anyone else. He will never lose his resolve and patience even in the most heated of situations as he was taught the moment he could comprehend words.

Skills:

Shield Use: Aryr can use his large, round shield in a variety of maneuvers to block and hit opponents. He is average with a shield.
Spear Use: Aryr uses a longspear effectively to stab and swipe at opponents. He is essentially average with a spear.
Eulaean Battle Cry: Aryr has been taught the Eulaean Battle Cry which can inspire his comrades to lift their spirits and fight no matter what the odds are. (Used to inspire people that are loyal to Aryr. Mostly his Royal Guard if he should ever meet up with them, no real use yet.)
Since Eulaean muscle development is much faster than human muscle development, Aryr is 1.2x stronger and faster (more developed muscles allow him to sprint faster) than the average human male.

Equipment:

Large Roundshield: Aryr’s shield when set vertically on the ground comes up to about his waist and is perfectly round. His shield is made of steel and painted gold with the violet Temple of Infinity crest on the front, a large swirl with a black dot in the middle, representing infinity. His shield is rather heavy because it is made from steel, making it cumbersome, especially to anyone who isn’t trained in its use or as strong as Aryr.
Longspear: A simple longspear. A wooden shaft with a large, steel point at the top. The bottom is dipped in iron to prevent any tearing from weathering and stress on the bottom.

Racial History/General Appearance:

Racial Appearance: Eulaeans are strikingly similar to humans but have a few key features that separate them from their 'cousins.'

The males become essentially pregnant (same reproductive method basically but women secrete the human equivalent to sperm).
Eulaeans have five fingers on a hand but six toes on each foot.
At the age of 10, their eye color changes from grey (birth color) to any variety of colors.
Eulaeans have to work very little to become muscular making them naturally talented warriors.

Eulian Land:
Eulaeans hail from the continent of Eulaea, which lies on the northern hemisphere of Althanas. Eulaea has a wide variety of terrain like Corone but nearly 40% of the land is covered in mountainous terrain. Most of the mountains are on the southernmost area of the continent and warriors are tested in the mountains for their initiation into the Eulaean military. The mountains are covered in snow for almost 90% of the year, only becoming uncovered during the 7th month of the 9-month Eulaean calendar. The rest of the terrain consists of mostly large, rolling hills and plateaus with an occasional lake here and there.

Eulaea
Capital city: Tradia
Total population: 8.3 million approx.
Population distribution: 97% Eulaean (8,051,000), 3% other (249,000)
Religion: 100% Darynism

Social/Political Structure:
Eulaea now has a feudal government in place due to the assassination of the king nearly two years ago. There are three prominent Houses that rule over sections of the entire continent and each have a different way of governing themselves.

House Guerdu:
This house is the weakest of the houses and ruled by a single dictator. The only law in place that the dictator must follow is that the people vote for a new one every year. This gives the people a say in how their government is run to a certain extent. This House has roughly 25% of the continent under its control and defends it with fervor unlike any other house. They own land mostly in the northwest.

House J'nu:
The second strongest of the three Houses, this is ruled by a democratic government (think roughly the US). There is a Podu (president) but only a senate. This keeps the two powers in check, more or less. House J'nu owns about 31% of the land and most is along the western coast of the continent and out from there.

House Morte:
By quite a longshot, House Morte is the strongest house. The Temple of Infinity rules them mercilessly. Every citizen living under House Morte is extremely religious and defends their territory using their heads to fight rather than brute force. This has gained House Morte nearly 44% of the land, making them the strongest House. House Morte encompasses the Southern mountains and the mid plains, along with a part of the eastern coast.

The three Houses meet annually (only a 9 month calendar) to try and negotiate trade, peace, and treaties in the "capital" of Tradia. Currently House Morte controls the capital city. There is no fighting inside the city except for peace keeping purposes.

Society:

For the most part, Eulaeans are outgoing, fun, and idealistic. They have high hopes that there will be peace soon, no matter what kind of government is in place but all have a strong sense of honor and pride in their respective Houses.
Women are the bosses in the household and in public (restaurants, parties, ect), but government is ran strictly by men (no matter which House). Keeping both men and women roughly equal but making sure that neither become too dominant.
Men do physical jobs and run the government while women do the work that requires more finesse and grace. Women also take care of the household.
Marriage in Eulaea is similar to a cat's or dog's mating. The men will duel over a woman and whoever wins will become the husband of the sought woman.
The truely unique aspect of Eulaean society is how a job is determined. At the age of 10 (Age of 5 in a 12-year calendar) a Eulaeans' eye color will change from the gray tint of their birth to any assortment of colors. This determines their profession and the skills they will learn to do their job best.

Males:
Color/Profession
Blue: Trader
Green: Hunter/Trapper
Brown: Blacksmith or similar profession (armor smith, Fletcher, ect)
Pink/Red: Priest
Violet: Servant
Black: Warrior (Soldier)

Females:
Color/Profession
Blue: Spies
Green: Farmer
Brown: Public service (digging wells, repairing clothes, ect)
Pink/Red: Priestess/Servant of the Temple
Violet: Prostitute
Black: Archer

Religion:
Everyone in Eulaea is required to worship the God of Infinity, Daryq. The people of Eulaea believe that the soul lives on forever after the body dies and is taken in by Daryq to wage war against the Goddess of the Void, R’naila. There are rumors of secret cults who worship the Void but are unconfirmed. The Temple is doing everything in its power to make sure that no one worships such a Goddess as that would lead to more civil unrest than is already in place.

There are Temples in every city of Eulaea, every House is ruled by a religious leader or a religious senate. It is law that there be at least one priest and Temple of Infinity in every city.

House Morte is the most strongly influenced by the Temple. No other House is nearly as religious as the citizens of House Morte.

Recent History:
The king of Eulaea is assassinated two years ago, leaving the continent in shambles.
The Temple founds House Morte and is ruled by the High Priest bloodline.
“Rogue” Priests make Houses J’nu and Guerdu.
Civil war has encompassed the land ever since.

A very interesting profile. A couple of notes of the necessary edits you need to do before I approve it.

You can be above average in only one skill/ability, and if that's the case then you need to be below average in the other. So you should make your pick between Spear Use and Shield Use.

Also, Althanas is not a continent; it's the name of the world. Hence, Eulaea can't be north of Althanas. It can, however, be on the north hemisphere of Althanas.

Eulaea is now on the northern hemisphere.
Just average with both spear and shield.

I'm curious. If men become pregnant, does that mean that they have female reproductive organs? And do they grow breasts in the process as well so they could breastfeed? And if so, what makes them males then if they have all aspects of a woman? :P

I guess we'll find out eventually. You are approved! with a 100 EXP bonus, despite the queer fact that Eulaean males grow bellies for other reasons then beer.
