Name: Nin Kyrja
Nickname: Xue Lian
Age: 19
Race: Lesser Fox Spirit
Hair Color: light violet
Eye Color: dark hues of lilac
Height: 5’5
Weight: 119
Occupation: Street Performer and Assassin/Spy (in training)

Personality: When performing, Nin is cheerful, energetic and friendly to anyone in the crowd, often asking for helpers. Children also seem to bring out a soft spot in him and he can often be seen giving small performances or teaching small groups of children tricks. Most adults thus view Nin as rather immature and a mischief maker and with good reason as he enjoys tormenting the adults with pranks just as much as the next child (not to mention he acts like one). To encourage this view, Nin is rather aloof at times and drifts off topic rather easily when speaking to adults. When confronted by people he is familiar with, however, he usually becomes timid and tries to avoid the situation by dodging the question. If cornered (literally or figuratively), Nin usually gives if he is amicable to the subject. If not, Nin usually simply feigns ignorance or is uncooperative. To the underground, Nin is known as Xue Lian and a different person altogether.

Appearance: Despite Nin being a man he is commonly mistaken for a woman. This is attributed to the fact his voice is soft and the same pitch as an average girl while his hair extends a little more than the whole length of his back and is rarely tied. With a physically small build but well toned body he fits the role of a street performer perfectly. Nothing about his looks however would give any hint he is anything other than human. Well… a rather odd looking human.

Racial Trait(s):
Mischievous – Nin’s mischievous nature is largely due to him being a Fox Spirit. When not on assignments, he is constantly up to no good but his antics are harmless, usually.

Fox Eyes – Night time and low light is preferred by the man as extremely bright light tends to hurt his eyes. Daylight is fine but during cloudless summer days, he can usually be seen squinting if there is no shade. In low light/moonlight Nin can see the same range a normal person can see during the day.

Likes a Drink – Even though the young man can’t actually stomach his drinks at all, he has a hard time refusing drinks from friends in fear of offending them.

Affinity for Illusions – A tricksters best friend are illusions and it is also helpful for a trickster to recognize them as well. Nin is able to recognize simple illusions though he does not currently know any illusions himself.

Note of the Race: A large portion is based off mythical Chinese and Japanese Foxes, but not entirely. In tradition, mythical foxes can live anywhere from 800 to a thousand years old. Shape shifting is usually achieved once a fox becomes 50 years of age.

Other Trait(s):
Physical – Being a smaller build than most men and even some women, he is not extremely strong. His strength is about ¾ of a normal human. He is faster than normal humans partly because of being a fox spirit, street performer, and spy in training (1.5 times faster? If this is too much I’ll lower it.) The performance routines also forced Nin to develop a high endurance as well as becoming a little more flexible.

Mental – Nin is smart and cunning (fox again) but is a rather shy fellow when he isn’t performing or on assignment. He takes duty seriously and doesn’t question what he is told to do if the order is coming from up top. Unfortunately, his tongue also runs faster than his mind and sometimes he says things he doesn’t mean.

Skills:
Unarmed Combat – His profession and training as a spy often times leaves him unarmed (unless you count juggling tomatoes a weapon). Martial styles are his mainstay of offensive and defensive capabilities.

Poison Palm – Despite the name, there is no poison involved. The name is for the study of pressure points, joints and the skeletal structure and the manipulation of them to control or harm one’s opponent with minimal effort. Nin’s current familiarity with this style is that of a below average level and is often scolded for this mistakes by his master (a sharp tap on the head with a stick).

Ways of Water – Another martial style focusing on the movement of the joints and limitations of the skeletal structure to control one’s opponent with minimal effort. By itself, this style is harmless and is often used in conjunction with other more aggressive styles. Nin’s current familiarity with this style is that of an average level. Despite this fact, his master still scolds him (another sharp tap on the head).

Equipment:
Modified Jutte – Instead of normally being blunt, Nin sharpened the tip of this odd looking weapon. Juttes are mainly used for breaking or disarming an opponent’s weapon and are thicker than normal swords. He only carries this weapon when he is on assignment. Nin’s particular jutte is made of steel.

Kansashi – More commonly known as a woman’s weapon, a Kansashi is actually a sharpened hair pin women can easily wielded and hidden in plain sight. A kansashi is typically anywhere from 6 to 8 inches long and has a diameter of 1.5 – 2 cm. Again, Nin only carries these on assignment and only 2 at a time. They are easily made from wood or sharpened iron rods.

Clothing – Nin normally wears woman’s clothing when performing and going about day to day activities. Depending on the assignment, he may still wear woman’s clothing (infiltrating a lord’s palace as a servant or entertainment house) or black clothing that contours his body. Sandals are his preferred footwear but when he wears the black clothing for assignments his feet are bound in cloth.

History: In the voice of Nin’s Master.
Nin was born to a fox mother and father, both in the same tribe. They were lesser fox spirits but that simply meant they could not crossover to the celestial realm for foxes, but that was not a real concern for many since doing so simply signified that a fox was damn old. In the particular tribe of foxes Nin was born in, it was not uncommon for them to lead double lives with their primary professions being assassins and spies. He was no exception and so his training began and other than his training, the boy’s childhood was much like any other human child. The village at this point was shared by both humans located in Salvar but it wasn’t always this way. Before it had simply just been foxes and during the demon wars, those who would shift into a fox did so and those who couldn’t simply scattered to the four winds and it was always a cause for celebration whenever one returned… at least that was what my grandfather told me.

Always the curious one, Nin would constantly badger those of more advanced ages of the outside world and question the reasons for the harsh training. He didn’t understand at the time but it changed soon enough. Oddly enough, the boy didn’t develop like a normal boy. He seemed more like a woman with each passing day and though many didn’t really mind, there were a few who picked on him because of it. The day he could take no more was when he was cornered by a human boy who was by far larger and in desperation, Nin managed to kill him with my training. They say the first kill is always the hardest one, I know it was for me, and it was no different for Nin. He spent the next few nights sobbing to himself and refused to wash his hands of the other boy’s blood. Eventually he got over it and went on with his training. In comparison with other student, he was considered the runt of the litter but he was fast. Faster than me even back in my youthful days. I suppose he got it from running away from conflicts.

His mother, Aiko, was as loving as any mother could be and treated him much like a daughter rather than a son. Nin’s father, Tobara, was no different and I suppose that is why Nin turned out the way he did. Mmm… what was I saying again? This old fox’s memory is rather limited… ah yes!

Nin decided one day to explore the world for himself at the age of 18. I was only guess it was his father’s stories and my good friends did the rascal decide to go on this journey. His mother of course was heart broken but with enough prodding from both me and his father, she finally consented. Of course she made me promise something important that I’m not recalling right now… oh, it was to continue his training. I suppose the only good thing about being old is being able to step into the celestial realm and appear by his side in spirit for a few hours. Beats leaving the house and running about the world, my bones ache too much for that.

Recently, it seems Nin has been making a decent enough living as a street performer. I had asked one of my comrades in Corone to help get him some jobs as an assassin and spy. The boy seems to take to those things naturally now. He seems hesitant about killing still… ah well. That’ll change soon enough as well I suppose.

NPC(s):
Aiko Kryja – Nin’s overly protective mother. She is one of the few that does not have a second profession to mask her assassin/spy way of life. Aiko, however, says being a mother and a house wife is a fully time job and that men don’t understand what it’s like. Aiko is currently 64 with a stature of 5’8 and hair half way down her back. Her complexion is that of a 23 year old.

Tobara Kryja – Nin’s rather silly father who enjoys getting him and his son into trouble rather than keeping them both out of it. He works as a farmer in order to help support the village but like the others has an assassin/spy way of life as well. Tobara also (much to the annoyance of his wife) likes to drink with the other farmers after a day’s labor. Tobara is currently 79 with a stature of 5’10, short spiky hair and the complexion of a 22 year old. He constantly annoys his wife with this fact and runs away before she can begin to throwing shurikens at him.

Master Oba Koffenheim – A master of assassination/spying and has long since retired. Not much is known about him and he actually spends most of his time as a fox lying in the sun by a pond or other gentle body of water. The only times he is seen in a human form is when he is teaching, drinking, or … drinking more. Oba is currently 859 years old, a stature of 5’7 and wild hair.

At this stage and with all your abilities, I'd like it if he could only recognize basic illusions.

Additionally, just edit in that your weapons are made of steel or weaker.

Done! Though I still think I forgot something and it's really nagging me... oh well.

Remember that you can't use NPCs without opponent's permission in battles.
