Asha'man Nevan

[OOC Note: This character is based in the Wheel of Time setting by Robert Jordan. However, I steered away from any established characters as much as I could, so originality isn't a problem, or shouldn't be. I've been told that Althanas is open ended in relation to characters and character abilities, so I didn't see a problem with importing a character from another setting. I also didn't put a great deal of history into my profile, and for a reason- I want to bring it out over time, in my writing. And yes, that's another way of saying "I don't have it all worked out yet."]
History would remember me as a Hero, while the present sought to scour me and my kind from the face of the world. To any empathic being, this would seem an atrocity, unjust on many levels. To me, it was simply my life. I had learned long ago, before my spark developed, that a man touching the Source was cause for terror. The madness was relentless. Even the kindest soul would become a corrupted, rotting carcass of insanity when bathed too long in the taint. As a child, fearful and terrified of the possibility of having my own opinion, I learned to deeply respect the often treacherous Aes Sedai for one reason: They were a shield between the common folk like us, and the shadowspawned male channelers.
And then, the day came that the Power came alive inside me. I still don't understand what happened. I am told that Channeling begins small, and begins to grow, and that there is a period of channeling sickness. Not so, for me. In my palm, the flower placed there by my sister burst to flame. And yet, the flame rolled liquidly off my skin, dripping to the grass below amid curling, twisting twines of oily black smoke. This beautiful thing, I had taken, and destroyed. It would become the story of my life.
The future would think of me as a Hero. But I am now, as I have been from the first, a murderer.
Asha'man.
The word meant 'Guardian' in the old tongue. More specifically, it meant the Guardian with righteous intent- never was it used to describe someone who followed an unjust cause. In that most ancient of tongues, it was used as a passing phrase, to lable a man's heart.
Now, it has become the name of an order, the name of the men from that order. Trained in the arts of death, taught to use my gift to kill mercilously.
For now, I am only a Soldier- the lowest rank of the Black Tower. But I am learning, and I will find my place.
At a Glance
Nevan is, without a doubt, a completely unintimidating figure. Because of his youth and training, the boy is so thin that he sometimes appears sickly, and if he goes without a shirt, it is exceedingly easy to count his ribs. He wears his blonde hair short and spikey, so it will not interfere with any battle or unexpected attack he might encounter. His eyes are a steely gray though they tend to take in the light around them, slightly shifting in color to match surroundings. Though he has trained long and hard, and has learned to kill, the boy still has yet to develop any facial hair. Like all Asha'man, Nevan wears a black coat that reaches past his knees, and has a high collar, though it bears neither of the pins that identify the higher ranked Asha'man.
Personality
Like many Asha'man, Nevan has been hardened by his training. Once, the boy was known to laugh without reserve, and trust without fail, but that has changed. His life at the Black Tower taught him suspicion and paranoia. There is no mistrust between himself and others- if they have not sworn to serve the Lord Dragon, he considers them his enemy. The boy's drive to better himself, and become more powerful henge entirely on his desire to serve the Dragon Reborn more effectively.
Nevan has sworn fealty and allegiance to the Lord Dragon Reborn, and will do anything for him. When the Last Battle comes, and the fate of the world is decided, Nevan intends to stand at the Dragon's right hand, protecting him from the DreadLords and the Forsaken.
Saidin
The source from which Nevan weaves his spells, and casts his magic. The Wheel of Time is turned by the One Power, which is in turn seperated into two halves: Saidin, the male half, and Saidar, the female half. During the ancient War of Darkness, the Hundred Companions, led by a man named Lews Therin Telamon sealed the Dark One back into his prison, and in response, he poured his dark power into Saidin. With the Dark One's touch, Saidin became tainted. Now, anyone who touches Saidin is driven slowly mad, and begins to rot alive.
Due to it's nature, no woman can sense Saidin, or any spells cast of it, just as no man can sense Saidar.
From strongest to weakest, Nevan's Strengths in the Power are: Spirit, Air, Fire, Earth, Water.
Abilities
Weaves
[Aeroneedles] (Saidin)
Nevan is able to weave a fist-sized grouping of needle-sized darts of air, which he then launches at an enemy. The damage done depends on what area of the body is hit, and how much force was behind the impact. Currently, to do any great amount of damage, Nevan would have to be very close, and hit a vital area.
Physical
[Asha'man Training] (Physical)
Due to his rigorous training in the Black Tower, Nevan has more stamina than most others his age, and can weild a sword with moderate proficiency.
