"THIEF!!!"

A clear, shrill voice rang through the crowded streets of outskirt Radasanth, the creaky wooden houses literally swaying from the sheer force of the shout. Heads turned to look at the source, a few unlucky lads and ladies were nearly knocked off their feet by a fleeting billow of shadow as the culprit sprinted off for safety. The lucky ones who managed to avoid collision ended up with a on the ground with a chubby, rosy-cheek lady rolling unceremoniously over their fallen bodies. The blonde lady never gave out a winded grunt, or rather none that could be heard over her accusing cries of anger, as she waved her solid wooden rolling pin above her head as if it was a sword of her own.

" Thief! Someone catch that damnable thief!"

"Uweh? Nanika, Tokita-sama?"

Asuka glanced about the din before them as the two Akashimans exited The Lonely Pine, a lowly inn that they had spent the night in on their way to the Capital of Corone. The duo were strictly on duty to gather some information regarding the recent turn of events within the Coronian governing body. As the head of her Household, it was her job to make sure security of the borders would not be compromised by the recent fissure between the Corone Empire and the Coronian Rangers.

"Some kid stealing bread from the local bakery, perhaps?" Her large, scraggy-hair bodyguard commented, casting his sights about in hope to catch the brat in his vision. There were some commotion off in the distance asides from the yelling fat lady, but no sign of the thief that had stolen the goods.

"Nevermind the thief, Asuka. It's their business, not ours. We need to get to the main governing building and ask the Assembly what's going on between them and the rebels." With a sigh, Tokita wiped a hand across his sweaty brows as he glanced about the run-down streets and homes that seemed to stretch on forever. "If we ever find it, that is."

"That's the House of Assembly of the Corone Empire, wise guy." The red-hair maiden chided, heaving a sigh of her own as the throng around her seemed to shift just slightly, crowding in against the young lass. Eyeing her escort sheepishly, the new Duchess let out a sly wink in his direction. "You know, Tokita-sama, maybe I should've left you at home to watch the lawn?"

"Hey, I'm not a dog, Asuka." The man huffed indignantly, crossing his gigantic arms across his chest. "Besides, I'm your bodyguard. What would happen to you if you got pick-pocketed here, your highness?"

"Speaking of which- Iya~!"

Asuka let out a panicked scream as she tapped frantically around her waist, her eyes darting across the sea of heads like a deranged hen after seeing her chicks were missing from the nest.

"Daijoubu? Aww, damn, not that..."

"M-My gold pouch! It's gone~!" She let out a wail upon realizing what had happened, her supposed bodyguard groaning in dismay. "I know I had it with me when we came out of that inn!"

While Asuka was busy checking her other belongings and sighing in relief that nothing else had disappeared, her large scruffy-head friend had already spotted the pickpocket playing with her pouch of gold - the red shield and white angel wings standing out clearly against the drab brown leather material.

"Socchira, Asuka! Hayaku!"

Asuka and Tokita immediately started off after the kid, who instantly spotted the two vengeful Akashimans and frantically sprinted off through the musky alleyway of the Radasanthian slums. Faster and faster, the kid seemed to disappear through the people. Asuka weaved through the elbows and shoulders, avoiding the occasional wheelbarrow that seemed to pop out of nowhere at the crossroads along the way. Tokita simply smashed through the walls of people by his sheer bulk alone.

Farther and farther, the three people raced away from the city population. Deeper and deeper, they delve into the Radasanthian alleys. Less and less, the odd looks from bystanders and bored house-sitters came.

Until there were none.
