I was just about to change my avatar when I paused to check the limits. It states; 100x100 pixels, or blah blah. Wasn't it 130x130 beforehand? Or are we cutting back for bandwidth or some other fancy code term?

Yeah, it was 130x130 when I put up my avatar. But it's that or the filesize, whichever is smaller, you can use. Right?

It's a bandwidth issue. As the number of visitors to Althanas is on the rise, so, too, is the amount of bandwidth the site is gobbling up. Believe it or not, the slight change in dimensions equals a lot of conservation. There were also some changes made that will not affect any registered members, but it has to do with how avatars are parsed.

Everyone with a current 130x130 avatar will be allowed to keep it, of course. If you would like to change your avatar, the 100x100 limit will be imposed, however. Fortunately, it's not that drastic of a change, and as orphans pointed out, many boards will impose restrictions of 50x50 (I've even seen a 30x30 max before... impossible!) And in line with the earning of custom user titles, you will also be able to earn larger avatars as well, this time with the cap potentially rising as high as 150x150. Rejoice.
