Well....my old art thread is just that. It is OLD. Hopefully I'm not breaking a rule by making another one, but if I am I'm sure someone will let me know. :)

I'll be starting college in the fall as an animation major and I need to get my character design practice in gear. So here I have plenty of pictures from the past couple of months for you, lovelies.

Criticism is welcome and appreciated; requests are....um....not. I've figured out that I'm kind of not good at finishing those, so until later this summer when I REALLY have some time, no requests. Just some eye candy.

And yes, Cory, I know I owe you fanart and you shall receive it!

/shameless plug for adoration.

ALSO! These images are all mine, so please don't steal, kthxbye.

First is Stuff from my senior year portfolio:

Here's a gargoyle. Grr. (http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v344/Tams_Pics/Gina05.jpg)
I don't know what's with her right eye, but I like the rest. (http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v344/Tams_Pics/Gina06.jpg)
Colleges seem to like this one a lot. (http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v344/Tams_Pics/scan0002-4.jpg)This is a pretty detailed piece I did for a friend of mine, of a character from our RP.

Now the sketchy stuff:

This here is Ethan. (http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v344/Tams_Pics/scan0011.jpg)He's my character in the aforementioned RP I write with a couple friends of mine.

A main character from a book idea of mine. Yeah, yeah, The Ring, The grudge, blah blah. (http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v344/Tams_Pics/scan0005-2.jpg)

Me. With all my RP characters floating around. (http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v344/Tams_Pics/scan0001-4.jpg)

A few expressions of Sanoƫ and Hana. I'm starting to get the hang of them. Sanoƫ's rather fun to draw. (http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v344/Tams_Pics/scan0012-1.jpg)

Rabhya as a work in progress. She's creepy.. (http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v344/Tams_Pics/scan0013.jpg)

Colorworks:

A Cleopatra doodle. You annoy her. (http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v344/Tams_Pics/scan0005-3.jpg)

The Little Mermaid, done for a friend of mine. (http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v344/Tams_Pics/Arielfinal.jpg)

My own version of Supergirl. (http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v344/Tams_Pics/finalsupergirl.jpg)

Haha, awesome stuff. I remember some of them. All good.

My personal favorites are the really detailed one with all the pretty stuff around her. I'm not sure if it's meant to mean anything, but looks awesome. The expression rock too. Awesome stuff.

Actually, that reminds me. Did you ever finish the old old old old one of Maia? I remember having the unfinished one fsaved on my comp somewhere. Moreso out of curiosity then anything. Still, also congrats on the animation major as well.

Hmm its all very good solid stuff, a nice mixing of different styles too, as for the eyes well different sizes is what makes them odd...great sense of depth in the more detailed hair-styles to boot, in general its all pretty damn good.

Animation Major.

You make a geeky kitty's dream come true. :p

Good luck to you and have fun making stuff move~! :D

I really really really like the "Fire" one. Reminds me a little bit of Alphonse Mucha's stuff.

The one in which you drew various expressions of Sanoe and Hana... It reminds me of artwork from the Broken Sword games for some reason. Which is, of course, awesome because I love Broken Sword games since they used 2-D drawn characters in the first two installments of the game.

Yay, I can once again feel safe about the future of the American animation business.

'Cuz, I tell ya, a lot of what I see going in... yeeeeeee.

Maia - Wow, that's ollllld. I think I did finish it....I usually keep everything I draw in my room, so I'll try and dig it out for you.

Raven - Oh man, I can't WAIT to make stuff move. I've been wanting to do it since I was five. August can't come fast enough. :)

Manda - Yep yep, I started doing all four main people in our RP in Mucha style, because let's face it, he was amazing.

Letho - I haven't actually heard of that game. Maybe I should check it out, I do like the 2D renderings of characters drawn in some RPGs.

MadGoblin: Haha, thanks. I'm very much obsessed with bringing 2D animation back, so that makes me feel good.

And yes, I colored both of them with Photoshop 6. It's slightly old but it works wonderfully. At least I think so. I need to get my digital coloring practice in.

I am not making a request here, just presenting a challenge for you. In other words, you do not have to show your results. I am giving you this challenge because I imagine you might want to try your hand at something out of the ordinary to really test your skills.

2 of my characters would be perfect for that, so here they are.

Wow, okay, so scratch what I said about getting more done later this summer. Because holy crap I didn't know college takes so much damn paperwork. Ugh.

Anyway. I come bearing gifts. Large, un-resized gifts, but I'm lacking in computer programs right now.
The first one is Harry Potter doodles from the midnight party thing July 21. There is a spoiler (although only in that first section), but you know what, if you haven't finished the book by now....I don't care. I am impatient.
And I don't know what's with Hermione's mouth in the second part...
By the by, the Potter!Nerd in the left of that picture....he couldn't find a broom, so he took his mom's Swiffer. :D

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v344/Tams_Pics/scan0001-6.jpg

Number Two: Does anyone remember an animated movie called The Last Unicorn, based on the book by Peter S. Beagle? If not....I'm an aspiring animator and I watch too many cartoons. So shush.
If you have, you'll remember the character Molly Grue, and how she wished the unicorn had come to her when she was young. I decided to draw Molly waiting for someone, for luck, I don't know. Just an excuse to draw something flowy.

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v344/Tams_Pics/scan0002-6.jpg

Lastly is a snippet of Rabhya again, still a work-in-progress. I like how her clothing is starting to turn out. Everything about her takes so much research, it better turn out well in the end. Fortunately she at least looks how she's supposed to: tall and predatory in the eyes and kind of snakelike.

I am back with a vengeance! *hisses*

Seriously, art college keeps me super-busy, so I've had just about no time to work on my own art. Freshmen work in Foundation Studies, so basically it's the basics, but at a more difficult level. I don't really get to start focusing on my major, animation, until next year.

Same rules apply:
Not taking requests at this time. Last thing I need is MORE homework.
You steal my stuff, you die painfully.

Number one is all the pictures I've ever drawn of Sanoe, loaded into a collage. She's really evolved over the past couple years.
Still basically a frigid bitch, though. :)

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v344/Tams_Pics/sanoecollage.jpg

I started this sketch of Rabhya months ago, and it's STILL not done. I blame myself for making her from India, where the clothing is beautiful, but mind-numbingly detailed.
Which I don't mind, but damn.....
Also, apparently she has legs up the wazoo.

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v344/Tams_Pics/scan0001-7.jpg

This next one is half of a tattoo design for a guy at my old job. I have to finish the "devil" side of it still. I like this one, I think.

DOUPLE POST BEETCHES.

I don't know if I posted this one already, but oh well...this is was my RP character from one of the many stories written by my two friends and I. This girl is Renee, a spoiled, self-glorifying priestess who thinks she's the cat's meow.
She was REALLY fun to play. This is supposedly her traveling outfit. She can't resist the bare midriff.

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v344/Tams_Pics/scan0003-4.jpg

Another RP character, from our favorite story, one we hope to make into a TV show someday. Like an Adult Swim one. It will be cool.
If it ever happens, this girl, Lissa (my character) should be voiced by Rosario Dawson. Oh yes we have planned it.

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v344/Tams_Pics/scan0004-2.jpg

Doodles from Color Concept class. Monkeys are cool.

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v344/Tams_Pics/scan0005-4.jpg

This is half of one of my Color concept projects - it was too long to scan the whole thing - in sketch form. I sort of ignored the guidelines - abstract forms - but the teacher apparently liked it. I chose to do a scene from the Greek festival at my church.

10-16-07, 05:38 PM
Yes, they are. While big breasts may be appealing to the eye, they can turn out to be a major pain in the ass when it comes to other things. And no, not involving sex. ;)

I should know, my girlfriend has enormous boobs and I've been with her for years now. >.< Lets just say the problems that have come up for her have mainly originated from her breasts.

Nice pics Emp. I like your drawings, they are really anime-ish to my eye. Are you a manga-ka?

THANK you. Gives you back problems and makes it hard to find shirts and dresses and run and stuff. Big boobs are mostly a pain in the ass, indeed. I say mostly because there are a few perks. No pun intended.

Thank you. No, I don't draw manga, or at least I haven't for quite some time. I've been trying to leave the anime style behind and be more in the area of general cartooning. I guess anime stuck into a couple of those pictures.

Yeah those are bassically the same problems that Ashley has (my gf). Plus the fact that guys hit on her just because she has them. :( *growls and pulls out giant-ass sword* I can't criticize big breasts too much though, as it seems that every time I draw a woman her breasts seem overly large. At least, that's what other people say. >.<

I could see that in some of your pictures, they had a very cartoonish shading to them, but yeah your right some of the anime has leaked in. INVASION OF THE JAPANESE!!!! *runs away, comes back wearing straw hat and men's kimono* ah, that's better.

*steals back her thread!*

Okay, so this has nothing to do with pictures at all, but I don't feel like making an entirely new thread for my other written things.

So I found this old-ish entry on my LJ parodying a scene from the book Eldest, the sequel to Eragon, by Christopher Paolini. You know, the shitty book that eventually produced a shitty movie.
And for some reason unbeknownst to myself, I read the sequel, hoping it had improved.

It did not.

Towards the middle of the book, there is a scene between Eragon and his pseudo-feminist elven ice-queen Mary Sue of a love interest, Arya.
And it was oh so EASY to make fun of. How could I resist? I mean, it's so stupid.
Now, I have to warn you: the following text is slathered with random swearing and excessive use of pop culture-speak. And I am probably the only one who finds it funny.
Thus I present to you The Ripping Apart Of Eragon, Otherwise Known As The Stale, Banal Text That Fantasy Has Been Reduced To.
This is Chapter 49 from Eldest, rewritten in sarcastic script form. Nevermind if you have no idea what the hell is going on. Just enjoy.

[Eragon wakes up from a magic-induced coma, thanks to some dragon who poked him with his magical snout.]

Eragon: Man, I feel even better than the last time I woke up from a coma! What happened?

Saphira: [through her magical telepathic skillz] You fainted after two naked, tattooed chicks gave you a free peep show--er, um....awe-inspiring, symbolically nude dance. Yeah.

Eragon: Is this your fault? I feel like it’s your fault.

Saphira: Are you even listening? You. Passed. Out. I’m a friggin’ dragon. If I wanted you to pass out, I’d just step on you. The elf girls did some freaky tribal dance shit and made their tattoo turn into a dragon. Then the magical dragon tattoo thingy gave you a free makeover using pretty much all of our remaining magic and mad skillz.

Eragon: I don’t get it.

Saphira: God, just go look in a mirror, dumbass. I’m out of here. [leaves]

Eragon: [grabs his shaving gear and heads to the mirror.] HOLY SHITAKI MUSHROOMS, BATMAN.

[Eragon has, in the length of an hour, gone from pimply-faced adolescent hero to pasty poster boy for Maybelline. The book describes him thus: “He was fairer than any human and more rugged than any elf.” ……yeah, okay.]

Eragon: [weeping tears of joy] I never have to shave again. [triumphant pose] TIME TO BREAK OUT THE FANCY THREADS!

[Eragon suits himself in about two hundred pounds of leather and fuzzy tights and heads on out to find his twoo wuv.]

Saphira: [magical powers of telepathy, yo!] Dude, where are you going?

Eragon: I walk between the candle and the dark. [Yes, this is an actual quote from the book.]

Saphira: ……………the fuck does that mean?

Eragon: Shut up, I’m about to boogie. Time to be a pimp!

[Eragon tracks down Arya by sniffing the air for the scent of pine needles and dirt, and finds her “standing alone on the edge of a clearing, poised like a wild creature as she watched the constellations turn in the sky…” Because apparently she has nothing better to do.]

Eragon: Hey, baby. I should probably let you know, you look very much like a deer caught in the headlights right now. Albeit a really sexy deer.

Arya: What happened to you? You look like you were attacked by every makeup consultant ever.

Eragon: I dunno. But I’m sexy as hell, so I really don’t care how it happened.

Arya: Um, okay.

[As they walk, Eragon is very obviously checking Arya out, noticing things like how noisy her clothes are and how oily her eyelashes seem to be. He is suddenly overcome by an impossible bout of lust to the max.]

Eragon: How tall the trees, how bright the stars—

Arya: I’m gonna stop you right there, Legolas-

Eragon: --and how hot you are, O Noble Arya Svit-…Kon?…Spit-Cone?….Shit-Coney?….damn, what the hell do they call you around here, anyway?

Arya: Svit-Kona. You are so romantic.

Eragon: Seriously, though, you should go out with me. I’ll build you really cool houses and shit. With my bare hands and everything. As long as you pick out the splinters for me. And give me a backrub on command. And generally revel in my manliness and what not.

Arya: Dude, shut up. You are way too young for me. You are a child, a whippersnapper, a youngin’, anything more than friendship can never ever exist between us etc. etc. and you also kinda smell like corn chips.

Eragon: Aw, really? You sure? Because the “older woman” thing really works for me.

Arya: Can’t you just get a chick your own age?

Eragon: [Starts to cry. He really cries in the book. It's beyond pathetic.] You’re so meaaaan….!!

Arya: I’m actually being nice right now. You should see me when I get pissed. My emerald orbs flash and everything.

Eragon: Okay, hold the phone, what if you do some magical transfer crap and give me the same amount of experience as you? Then I would be just as well-versed in sexxy skills! …Er, I mean, I would be a knowledgeable gentleman and hold doors open for you?

Arya: No way.

Eragon: Why not??

Arya: Because it's...um....not cool and....stuff. Yeah. Morally wrong and all that rot.

Eragon: [whiny] Nuh-uh!!

Arya: Okay. Until you can stop being immature and horny, I’m gonna blow this joint. Later.

[At this point, tears begin spilling down Eragon’s cheek and onto a patch of conveniently-located moss,” where they lay unabsorbed, like pearls strewn across a blanket of emerald velvet. Numb, Eragon sat upon a rotting log and buried his face in his hands, weeping that his affection for Arya was doomed to remain unrequited…”]

Readers: [heave a gargantuan, collective shudder at being forced to actually hear about unrequited love and pearly tears.]

Saphira: [magically appears!] I’m just gonna go right ahead and say….I definitely told you so.

Eragon: I couldn’t stop myself!

Saphira: Well okay, I’ll give you that. You are an unstoppable moron.

This one is the preliminary sketch from a photo (not taken by me) that I'm using for my Color Concept class's current project. A little advice from me to you - never try to redraw leaves from a photo and assume you will have it finished for the following Monday.

Hello, hello. Resurrecting this thread for perhaps the tenth time...but it's all good! Art school's kept me too busy to do a lot of fun sketching - this time next year I'll finally be getting into projects that actually have more to do with my major and are, you know, not gut-wrenchingly hard. What I do have, I like, so here ya go.

As usual, no stealing, the images are mine (though some were inspired by other things), and yes, Cory, I'm scanning your fanart tonight. Right after homework.

First off -

This was me during finals week. Only that's not supposed to look like me. Just a cute little comic I entered in a contest. Didn't win, but I do get forty bucks, which is always good news to a broke art student.
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v344/Tams_Pics/comic2.jpg

Next is practically the only sketching I managed to do over break: scenes from the long RP-off-Althanas I wrote with a couple friends, the one I'm always posting drawings from. This drawing's cooler because it mostly features my character, Lissa - top left, looking annoyed at an old rival of hers, and bottom, with bedhead from, well, an energetic night. : )

I'd love to bring her onto Althanas at one point, though I'd have to make a few changes. I've already got two brunettes and a blonde. Might as well throw in the redhead. : )
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v344/Tams_Pics/RPscenes.jpg

Here's a Superhero type guy. Nothing much, just a doodle from 3D Design class. I love drawing the huge jawlines.
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v344/Tams_Pics/scan0003-5.jpg

This one is my final piece for a project. The background is crap, since it was done at 5 in the morning, but I got an A. I won't complain. : ) A scene from Inda, by Sherwood Smith, done in mannequin form. Good, good book.

Stupid code only allows four images per post....but it's okay, considering these next two are of a considerably less serious (and considerably more embarrassing) nature. :)

If you watch Avatar: The Last Airbender, you may be amused. If you don't....well....um....lookit the boobies? ^^;

This is a "crack" comic - makes almost no sense and is basically just fanservice, featuring the characters Zuko, Katara, Azula, and Haru - I drew for a hilarious community on Livejournal. I didn't write any of the dialogue, just drew everything and wrote little random-ass side comments. I'm sure some of you will appreciate it, considering Althanas is pure crack.

I had to scan these at Kinko's, so parts of it are cut off, unfortunately.

Enjoy. And be afraid.

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v344/Tams_Pics/zutara1.jpg

" Homosexual Art Sullied with Blood after Made at Gunpoint"

Oh. And. The Avatar stuff is great, I can't wait until the next season. ;)

New Hana sketches. I can't wait to do more with her character here, it's helping me practice for writing her in my book, of which she is the main character. Finally know how to get going on that, after years of work on it. :D

You better illustrate your own book cover once you finish it or it just won't be the same. =P

Thanks, guys. :)

Eric - I'd love to, but I don't consider myself quite accomplished enough to draw an entire book cover. I mean, I c ould do it, but I keep envisioning the cover for mine a certain way, and I kind of want to see someone else's production of it. As long as they draw everyone correctly. :)

Also, I don't have the patience for painting.

More coming soon, guys. Also, I'm still very much interested in the Althanas Animated Video project. It's definitely been taking shape in my mind. :)

Hello you folksy types. :)

Only a little bit of art this time, but I'm quite proud of them.

Numero Uno:

Doodles from my 2D Design class yesterday. I was definitely doing this instead of working on the project we were just assigned. It's sort of sad that I'm in art school yet still feeling the need to doodle in class?
I'm glad I can draw guys now, though.
I have no idea who he is, either. He started out as Peter Parker. Now he's more, I dunno, Cyclops.

Next up!
More sketches of Hana.
This is more for the version of her that I am revamping a bit for my book. I've been reworking all the characters and concepts and have a much better idea of where I want it to go now.
Also Hana is really fun to draw. I like having a main character who isn't a Mary Sue. She's very spunky!

More to come soon. :)

They are so good! What process do you use to make a simple profie?

:P and.. can I steal one of your ideas and use it as a template for a sketch? I like that of you with all your characters floating around. My favorite :D

Thanks for the compliments dear. :)

Profie? I'm assuming you mean profile, right?

Also, did you want to use the outline of a face, you mean? If so, that's fine, but anything more and I'd prefer that you credit me. I'm super-paranoid about stuff. Which is weird, considering I post it on forums.

You should show me when you're done, I'd love to see more of your stuff!

Anyway, here's a picture drawn and colored for Cory. It's his sooper seekrit thing, apparently. I just like using my tablet. And I like how her legs came out.

DUBBLE POST OH SNAP.

Not really.

So I am a nerd of epic proportions. I've said this many times before, but now I think it's official.
Today in my Oil Painting class we were working with a nude model - and no, I'm not posting the full-body picture - and it occurred to me that what I had on my canvas so far looks exactly like how I picture Sanoe's mother, Ileana, red hair and all.

What can I say? My imagination runs perpetually.

Anywho, here we go. It looks kind of crappy because I took a picture of it with my webcam.

Thanks! Yeah, at my school, it's STRICTLY art. It's all I do, and it's a surprising amount of work.

I can still take commissions, but very sparsely. School keeps me busy, but it's only a sketch and not something colored, I can do it. :)

Plus we get two days off school next week, so that helps with working on my own stuff.

Cory - Milk jugs. That is quite possibly the most awkward, image-inducing euphemism for boobs....ever.
Also, how long are you going to be obsessed with mine?

Manda - No worries hon. :) Thank you! Yeah, it can be difficult to mix the right color, but you get used to it after a while.
Also, I get the feeling I'm missing some internet joke here because I'm outta the loop....mudkips?

Also, in somewhat-related news, my good friend recently started her own webcomic called Kastle Comics, based on true events that occur in her real life workplace, an awesome comic book store in Alabama. It's very awesome and full of badass geekery and great characters - even better because they're real people - and I highly recommend it to anyone who's into comic books, superheroes, movies, sci-fi, jokes only we get - honestly, it's a great comic and getting better all the time.

Yeah, I'm well aware of that. :D That's one of the only things boobs are good for.

So here's the colored version of the comic - I am very much enjoying learning Photoshop tricks in my Digital Design class.

Next is sketch ideas for Sanoe. I decided she's getting a new outfit after events in a recent quest lost her her robe. It was very much inspired by the outfit worn by Alison Doody, a.k.a. Dr. Elsa Schneider in Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade - which was and will always be fucking awesome - but with a few differences.
As for the sketch in the bottom right - I've been getting better at detailing the human body and wanted to test it on Sanoe, but it turned into fanservice. Go figure.
What can I say, I'm a giver. xD

Finally finished a drawing of Sanoe in her new threads. Or, what will be her new threads tomorrow when I make the post.
I feel like my coloring technique is rather boring right now, so I'm experimenting with a few tutorials to get cooler results. More pictures, and other doodles coming soon.

Anyway, bask in the awesomeness. :) She looks good in a skirt, I think.

And just for the lulz, here's a couple drawings from my Figure Drawing class at school - the left one is from a few weeks ago, the right one is from first semester. And yes, he really is that thin.
