Name: Dgrad Aierin
Age:131
Race:"Minotaur"
Gender:Male
Hair:Moderately short, black, very thick.
Eyes:Light blue, drowsy.
Height:8'4''
Weight:734lbs

Personality:Very quiet, and very calm. His speech is greatly influenced by his emotions, and although he attempts to hide it, does not succeed. He prefers to use action, as opposed to speech, and when required to speak intends his conversation to be as small as possible. He attempts to avoid killing, nearly a pacifist, he will not kill unless given a very good reason to. Around people he respects, he often does not make his own decisions. He speaks much more freely around them, and agrees with nearly everything they wish. He is very submissive and devoted, always wanting to do what he can to give others happiness. He consistently blames things on himself, although more often then not, it is only to redeem another's honor; to do a good deed for them.

With a few exceptions, he does not take prejudices. Although previously in his life, he would treat others based simply on their race, his exposure to other cultures has changed this. These are the few exceptions: When he was younger, Dgrad was taught that blood encased one's spirit. This has spawned a great hatred of any sort of vampirism, and one equally hateful for beings without blood(I.E. Undead).

Appearance:His fur is dark-gray, mottled with splotches of white. His horns arc downwards, just above his minuscule ears, extending out ten inches. He wears a large brown-gray cloak, ragged and stitched multiple times. His looks would be that of a beggar, as it would suggest. It's hood is almost never drawn up in public places. Below it, he has dull colored leggings of leather down to his hooves--a great number of stitches sewn into them and easily seen that it is made of more then one beast's hide. Also, a sleeveless cloth undershirt, both stained in multiple places and clearly unwashed. Aside from that he has ragged leather gloves, ripped in multiple places and a chain of necklaces, bearing symbols of his tribe. He relies mainly on his hardened skin for defense. On his chest he bears a large horizontal scar, easily visible to the naked eye. The previous wound had prevented fur from growing in thickly over it.

His nose is a bit flatter than average, the nostrils a bit close together. His eyes are soft, when widely open, but the majority of the time, his eyes are squinted, and unable to be seen. Often his face takes a look of sadness, and otherwise simply that of boredom, or drowsiness. There are many scars on his face, although none outstanding. Most have faded behind his regrown fur. Also, he has a substantially large, unkempt beard.

History: Dgrad grew up regularly, nothing important. Through the first fifty years of his life he was trained to use nearly anything he could find, to defend himself or others, limited only to magic weaponry. He did not excel in any of those he trained in, merely working with them until he could use it comfortably, and moving on. At the age of forty-six, he was stationed as a guard, along with two of his childhood friends(Apolonius and Brashnear), for the village. Their time was mostly calm, not having any important events occur for a very long while. In short, until Dgrad was in his fifties, his life was quite boring.

At the age of fifty-six, in the spring, a female Elf was spotted outside their village. For a few days she tormented the three of them, besting their efforts at capturing, slaying, or banishing her. She toyed with them, both annoying and humiliating them whenever she found it possible.

After she had done this for a few days, they were assigned to leave on an expedition to slay her. For a month they chased her through desert land and forest, a week in Apolonius returning, having given up. Dgrad and Brashnear continued, and at the end of the month trapped her in a damp cave, many miles south of their village. The two of them slowly stalked her through the cave, and she, again, bested the two of them in their efforts, pinning them against a wall in a dimly lit cavern. Unexpectedly, she offered them a deal. She was a hit man, assigned to take Brashnear's life. So, in exchange for his chain of necklaces, the mark required to identify his death, she promised to fake her own death for Dgrad, in order to increase his rank. Dgrad did not understand her hospitality, but her offer was expected, and Brashnear set up a place to live in that cavern.

Dgrad lived the next thirty years of his life of a king, granted nigh everything he wished. Throughout this time however he was deeply distressed. Unknowingly to him at the time prior, he had taken a liking to the Elf. He could not keep his mind off her, and as a result his skills diminished. His prowess was minor already, compared to his colleagues, his illegitimate way of obtaining his rank diminishing him.

Fortunately, or unfortunately, dependent on the point of view, the Elf eventually returned to Dgrad. Dgrad tried to hide her presence but it was found, and he was stripped of his rank and banished for betrayal. The Elf's name was found out to Dgrad, Rathari, and the two of them lived together peacefully for a long while. In this time, Dgrad was deeply saddened over the loss of his tribe, and slowly fell into insanity. Rathari comforted him in these times, and the two grew to be dysfunctional mates. Rathari had few books, and Dgrad studied them, attempting to learn a common language for them to speak with (Previously Brashnear had spoken with her). He learned as much of Elfish as he could, and dipped slightly into Common((This may be replaced by whichever language is most commonly used by humans on this forum.)) , in an attempt to impress Rathari.

After seven years, which Dgrad would often regard to as the best years of his life afterword, Rathari took her leave. She did not tell Dgrad of this, instead feeling it would be humorous for him to distress about her. Overnight, she spilled a bit of blood on the ground, where she had slept, and left Dgrad. Much to her assumption, Dgrad worried about Rathari's being, assuming her killed. Again, he began to seep into insanity, imagining they had still been together. He waited for her to return, his insanity influencing his thought that she was alive.

Although, after two years of waiting Dgrad gave up this thought. He let himself think she had been killed, and slowly began to regain his sanity. Replacing this was depression, his dreams and thoughts were again filled with images of her, and he blamed himself for her death.

During the next year, he met many travelers as he traveled as well, but one stood out. Faela, a young human girl, had came to his camp sometime in the early winter. Dgrad thought that, if he allowed her to stay with him, then she would take his mind of of Rathari. For the length of the winter the two shared their stories with each other, and Dgrad slowly began to take a liking to her. He very much enjoyed her company, and was saddened by her leaving at the end of the winter.

Dgrad's sadness was lessened, almost having forgotten of Rathari. Another nineteen years passed, before Dgrad met Faela again. At the age of 115, he began to dip into old age, and to his surprise, met Faela anew. She looked much different, she had been blessed--or cursed, may it be called. Her skin had been given a light blue tint, and her neck had been scarred with horizontal marks, gills, as later was found out.

The two of them lived happily together, although the story of her 'curse' was saddening. Dgrad attempted many times to mate with her, but she did not allow it, not wanting a child. When asked, she still would broadcast them as mates, or lovers, but would not delve into the details of it.

For sixteen years they lived together, the lives a married couple would, with that one important factor left out. At 131, Dgrad had become venerable, and his combat skills decreased greatly. One day, the two of them were on a walk, as they often did. They passed by a human scouting encampment, and, although attempted to ignore it, the guards arrested Dgrad, assuming he had kidnapped Faela. Faela attempted to convince them otherwise, but they ignored her, and Dgrad was sent to a dungeon, given a life sentence.

Two months later, now 132, Dgrad convinced the jailor to let him leave, with a bit of compromising. Now, he wanders aimlessly in attempt to find Faela again, so he can return to his previous life.

Skills:

-Average warrior:
Throughout his young life, Dgrad was taught to survive on his own with anything he had. Because of this, he can use next to anything as some sort of weapon; yet, not with too great a skill. The two exceptions to this are axes and short bows, which he has specialized in. He is not a master of either, however.

-Acrobat:
In spite of his large size, Dgrad has learned to keep himself very agile and swift through his age. The weights on his legs restrict him; by wearing them often he becomes used to the extra weight, and (should he feel the need) he can take them off and allow his agility to spurt up for a short time.

Equipment:

-Leather leggings;
Description:Brown and gray, combining multiple hides of many beasts. They fit tightly around his legs, many a stitching sewn into the many rips they have obtained over the years. They look filthy, and are stained in many spots.
-Leather gloves;
Description: Deep brown, made up of a boar hide. They are tight around his hands, many small holes around the fingers.
-Broadaxe;
Description: Dulled, made of lesser stone. In a humans hands would be almost as large as the man itself.
-Short bow;
Description: Dark yellow in color, it is particularly small, yet durable. He bears it across his back, under his axe.:
-Cloak;
Description: Easily torn into, and already with many rips in the cloth. It is quite large, well enough to cover his entire body, if need be. The cloth is mostly black, although the tint lightens as it reaches the bottom of the cloak.

Less significant objects:
-A small weight on the back of each of his lower legs, approximately 100 lbs each
-A leather quiver, ~ten arrows inside.
-A small leather sack; Contents:
-A large piece of flint.
-A small leather flask, to carry water.
-A bone knife, too dull for combat, used for skinning hides.
-A small piece of copper, with runes etched into it in his language.

Finally I'm not the only one with a minotaur character.

This is approved, by the way. Welcome to Althanas.
