This Really Isn't My Scene (part 1) (http://www.althanas.com/world/showthread.php?p=68415#post68415)
(closed to Elijah and Delcorian and Momo)
As things were it seemed pretty hopeless. Momo felt this is what despair must be. No matter how hard she struggled she couldn’t break free from Tybalt’s iron grip around her arms, and they only seemed to be moving further and further away from where they’d left Elijah. Threatening tears filled the brims of her chocolate eyes and her lip quivered which she quickly bit to hide.
“ Don’t worry, they’ll finish your friend fast,” Tybalt assured with a dry cackle and gave Momo another shove forward since her feet were beginning to drag again. “ Keep moving.” Momo dreaded to think what might be happening to Elijah right now, and she wasn’t there to help, not that she would be of much help. But… he had still stood bravely against the two thugs… So she should be brave too.
“ Where are you taking me?” Momo finally asked feeling a bubble of courage rise up within her.
Tybalt ignored her.
“ Where are you taking me?!” this time Momo shouted and missed a step to stomp her foot back on Tybalt’s. The man just laughed for the monk’s pathetic attempt was amusing.
“ My ship.” he said simply, ushering her along as if nothing happened. Ship? Momo couldn’t understand why he’d have a ship, was he some sort of pirate? Wasn’t that what Harbringer said? The problem with a ship was that they would leave the area, and then Momo would be entirely out of luck. At this rate she’d go missing and never be found.
“ Help!! Somebody help me!!!” she cried at the top of her lungs. Tybalt was started by the suddenly volume this small person could produce. Feeling his ear drums ringing Tybalt shook his head and shoved Momo roughly then jerked her back by his grip on her arms.
“ Shut it!” the knife drew dangerously close to her and Momo quieted down. However, as they stopped Momo took the time to slip off one of her sandals and discreetly nudge it to the side. Tybalt hadn’t seemed to notice so he pushed her along as before. As the two of them disappeared down the alley that would connect to the dock area Momo glanced back at the sandal she’d left hoping someone would come across it…

Seeing the pole pop in front of his face, deflecting the dagger that was meant to take his life, threw Elijah even further off of his game. Where had Harbringer come from? Was he following him ever since he left the Promenade? Doesn't really matter, dude saved my life. I owe him quite the apology. While the redhead was negotiating the thug's life in exchange for information on Tybalt's whereabouts, Elijah took a few steps back and leaned up against the closest building. He was still bewildered at the thought of taking somebody's life in the preceding minutes.
A few torches that were hanging from the building cast a dull light on the scene. He took a look at his surroundings, to try to get his mind off the situation. However, his sight was glued to a strange light emitting from Harbringer's face. It was an unnatural reddish color, and grew brighter as the tone of his voice changed from slightly annoyed to downright angry. Elijah made a mental note never to piss him off.
He wanted to run off and try to find Tybalt and Momo, but he thought it'd be a better idea to wait for Harbringer. Perhaps he will get some information, after all... Yes, that would be wiser than running off in the darkness to find someone who, for all I could know, is either long gone... Or worse.
Elijah waited patiently while Harbringer was conducting business.

The thug looked ready to faint, Harbringer didn't care, he wanted to see Momo safe and he didn't care who he had to maim or kill to get what he wanted.
"I'll give you five more minutes to answer pal," said Harbringer, his eyes still glowing, and his anger still rising, "Before I strike you down, and send your head to your boss as a warning."
Harbringer thought back for a second, to a couple hundred years ago, when he had to deal with something like this, it hadn't gone well. at all. people had died, and a lot of collateral had taken place, because of a certain demonic presence.
"Times almost up pal."
Elijah, gonna need you to do thug...please

Bunny approved.
Elijah could see the fear emanating from Tybalt's friend's eyes as Harbringer drew his sword closer to the thug's midsection. By then, he had gathered his wits and was able to join in the interrogation. He took a few steps closer. "I would recommend telling this guy what he wants to know. He looks like he's messed up his fair share of expendable underlings in his day."
The thug looked at Elijah, then back at the Harbringer. Between whimpers, he managed to get out a few words. "H-He's heading f-for Firewiner R-R-River, traveling along the East Road. We h-have a sm-sm-small boat tied up there."
Elijah got within three inches of the man's face. With a slight, angry chill in his voice, he ask, "Why her?"
"I-I don't know. He wouldn't tell us."
Elijah sighed. "What good are you as a flunky?" He stood up and took a few steps away. "Surely you can at least tell us where he's taking her."
"I told you, he's headed for Firewi--"
Harbringer interrupted him. "We know that, you impudent waste of flesh. Where are they going from there?"
The thug was suddenly snapped into a state of further submission by the rage pouring out of the redhead. "He's going to be traveling south along the river until he reaches the ocean. O-our ship is anchored at the mouth of the river."
"Where to from there?"
"I-I don't know!"
Harbringer growled in frustration, grabbed the thug by his neck, and in one smooth motion, slammed the thug into a wall with a sickening thud. The poor man's eyes went wide, then his face relaxed as he lost consciousness. His tattered clothes scraped against the wall as the thug slumped to the ground in a heap of flesh and bone.
Harbringer continued to stare at the dispatched thug until Elijah cleared his throat, cutting through the silence like a sharpened sword. "Hey. Look. I'm sorry for how I acted back--"
The redhead interrupted him, his voice fortified with determination. "Save it, kid. We need to find Momo, and fast. If my fears turn out to be reality, then she will be having a very unpleasant surprise waiting for her."
The two immediately made their way out of Underwood along the East Road, towards Firewiner River..

"We get to the river," said Harbringer, "and we figure out what to do then."
Harbringer had a thought.
"Why on earth would a pirate, especially the likes of Tybalt want Momo?" asked Harbringer, "Aside from her healing potential, I can think of only one other reason and that is a reason that I don't want to think about right now, because its too gastly to even me want to give warrant to."
Harbringer looked at Elijah, then looked outwards again.
"There are two thoughts that are going through my head right now," said Harbringer, "the first one is that Tybalt wants vengance for getting clocked by you in the pub, which if he's your normal run of the mill pirate, that's what they do, but if the theory I have, is right, then Tybalt is working for a demon who has it out for me, he's been around since the fall, he's dangerous, psychopathic, a murder and a rapist, and he generally enjoys torture and using people."
Harbringer shuddered, and remembered his wings.
"He had minions way back when," said Harbringer solemnly, "He was one of the few dark ones to be feared, but now he works with a couple other demons, who call themselves the Dark 3. They are responsible these days for causing sadness and depression, they also want to open one of the last remaining hell gates and take earth back."
Harbringer laughed, "The only people with the power to open the last gate, are the Astoria, a group of fallen, who now guard the way with their life, the Enkisa, a human group who wants earth pure and not dead, and then the elves, or those with an elvish bloodline in them, it doesn't matter if your 1% elvish blood, or 100% elvish blood, you can open it. I pretty much doubt that Momo is Elvin, she is a healer, so he wants her because of her pure powers, that's my guess....in other words, we're screwed."

Boy, Elijah, the voice in the back of his head spoke with a spot of smugness. Things just keep on going from bad to worse, don't they? I mean, first you stroll into a tavern which, quite frankly, you didn't have a clue as to why. Then, you get clocked in the face sticking up for the healer chick. Then, your buddy over there... What's his name... Harbringer Something-or-other... Well, he completely interjects himself into your conversation with said healer chick and steals your thunder, not that you were looking at her in that way.
Elijah tried as hard as he possibly could not to scream at the voice out loud, unless he wanted Harbringer to think that we was absolutely out of his mind. Then after you leave those two alone, you find out that the guy who punched you at the Promenade is a wanted man. So when you head back to warn the girl and the redheaded d-bag, what happens? The pirate dude sics a couple of his flunkies on you and makes off with the girl. And now, you and Harbringer are off to rescue Momo like a couple of good little adventurers would, and what does your new friend have to say? That this Tybalt Ciero dude has teamed up with some demons who seek to unleash all hell here on good ol' Althanas? Hah! Maybe he is right. The whole bloody lot of ya' are screwed!
Elijah grit his teeth and stopped dead in his tracks. He screamed, in no direction in particular, "Will you shut up and leave me alone!"
Silence had overtaken the forest. He suddenly realized what he had just done; and consequently his face turned crimson red in embarrassment. He could hear the voice in his head fading away with a light chuckle. Harbringer's footsteps had stopped as well, but Elijah couldn't bear to look at him at the moment, afraid of the various looks that one would receive when caught talking to himself.
"S-sorry. It's kind of hard to explain," he managed to squeak out. He continued walking down the path, snapping the various twigs that laid underfoot. After an awkward moment of silence, Elijah figured that now was as good as time as any to come up with a plan on freeing Momo from Tybalt Ciero. He looked up at the sky; day was beginning to break. Strange, he hadn't felt the least bit tired. The rush of rescuing his first damsel in distress had given him the energy to stay awake all this time.
He looked back down at the road ahead, just barely making out in the twilight something that resembled a bridge. "Firewiner River must be right ahead, maybe a mile or two off in the distance. So, what's the plan?"

Harbringer sighes. maybe now might be a good time to talk to the kid.
"Elijah," said Harbringer, "I've known humans for a long time, and i know when they're acting stupid, that little outburst just now was probably normal for someone under stress."
Harbringer looks around as it nears daybreak, popping a couple of pills into his mouth then continuing.
"You're probably a bit mad at me because you think I was trying to make a move on Momo," Hark peered down at the kid to see if he was correct, "I know you like her, and that the fact that you went back after you left to try and warn her, is admirable, but for right now, get her out of your mind, she is a person who has been captured, I don't care how much you like her or how much you've fallen for her, that will screw up this mission to save her because of that, you have got to grow up kid, I could do this alone, and save her much easier, but you met her first, and its mostly your mission, I'm here to kick some demon butt."
Harbringer sighed. Hark was right in some respects, humanity prided itself on many things, but they were stupid in many respects, especially when it came to going after the one they loved or cared about, and letting that guide their mission, half those missions ended horribly because one or the other died because of their feelings, Harbringer wasn't about to let that happen, even if it meant scolding the kid like a 14 year old training warrior angel.....yeesh

The rich blanket of midnight began to fade from the sky and lave sheets of an amber hue starting in the Eastern horizon. To Momo this was a relief, most people who were kidnapped were found during the day… at least that’s what she told herself. Nevertheless, daytime seemed much more comforting than the menacing night. Still fumbling along with Tybalt’s shoves and barking right behind her, Momo was feeling tired. Not just tired of being kidnapped, but fatigued. The sun also meant she’d been up all night, not something the monk was used to. Though it was no time to yawn Momo couldn’t help but sneak out a quick one. In disbelief Tybalt quirked a brow. How could the girl be getting sleepy at a time like this?
“ Can’t… can’t we just stop to rest for a minute?” her quivering voice dared to ask. Tybalt responded with a snort and rough shove. Momo took it as a maybe, try again later.
The temperature was just right for sleeping. With the sun coming up the cool night air had become warm and cozy like a grandma’s house. A grandma’s house with fluffy pillows and yummy hot soup and cookies…
“ Pick up your feet!” Tybalt growled, snapping Momo out of her daydream. She must have been falling asleep as she walked. Momo shook her head but couldn’t shake away the sleepies.
“ Just…,” she yawned, “ A little nap…”
“ No! I Said no! Get moving!” the little vein on Tybalt’s forehead pulsated just a little more. If he wasn’t so hungry he might just kill the girl out of his sheer irritation with her. It took more self control than he thought he had to fight back the growing hunger for flesh building in his belly. As the sun rose so did his thirst for the monk’s blood. Gone with the moonlight would be his ability to hold his shape as a human man. When the sun came up he would revert back both physically and mentally, meaning a beast in and out. Some stories called Tybalt a werewolf, some called him a demon, but all agreed… what Tybalt was, was a monster.
“ I’m so sleepy…,” Momo yawned again but nearly choked on it after a harsh push from Tybalt sending Momo toppling over onto the grassy river bank. Her hands felt sore from trying to break her fall but the grass under her head was so comfortable… like a pillow.
“ I can’t wait anymore!” roared Tybalt in frustration and hunger. Momo pulled herself out of her sleepy daze, alerted by the sudden distortion of Tybalt’s already rough voice. He sounded inhuman. Turning her eyes onto Tybalt. Momo saw that as the sky grew golden and touched the pirate with its rays his skin began rippling into a rough bark like texture. His snout elongated until he resembled a wolf, and then his teeth stretched themselves out of his mouth into fangs. Horrible crunching noises echoed as his bones shifted themselves around, reattaching ,dislocating, and bending in ways they shouldn’t.
“ I was going to eat you when I got to my boat, but here’s fine too!”
“ e-eat me?!” Momo cried in horror. She’d been threatened by bandits before, she’d been hit in the head by her teachers at the monastery, and she’d been chased by wild animals, but she’d never been eaten, and she didn’t want to be. “ AHHHHH!!” Momo jumped to her feet and bounded off back towards the forest as fast as he legs would carry her. Tybalt was still transforming and couldn’t quite run yet, so he stumbled awkwardly behind her, but gained more speed with every step.
“ Don’t eat me!!!” Though small, her voice carried itself through the trees until it came out the other end to the path that two familiar faces were standing before. Momo could hear branches being snapped behind her by Tybalt’s thrashing. He was gaining on her quickly. A small distance away Momo could see a break of light, probably into a road, maybe someone could help her. She pushed her muscles to their limit to make that last stretch, breaking out from the forest onto the dirt road.
She could hardly believe what she saw, but believed it because it was there and a big monster was chasing her. “ Run!” she shouted dashing towards her two new friends, reaching for their arms to pull them along in her desperate escape. She was surprised to see them both there, and grateful Elijah was, in fact, alive, but she’d ask them about it later.

"NOT SO FAST!" Roared Harbringer, bringing down his staff hard on the ground as the demonish creature that was Tybalt came after them. Holding out his sword, he started saying a few phrases in latin, then gave up.
"DEMON!" Roared Harbringer, standing his ground, "You are Recognized, stand to and let yourself be surrenedered unto your maker!"
The staff went down again, this time a cracking sound in the earth could be heard as a magic pentagram spread around Demon Tybalt.
"So," said Habringer as the demon was held, "You appear again to haunt me, but this time you have learned metamorphsis, and have taken human form for the dark hours, that is useful I take it since you even had me fooled thinking you were dead after our last encounter, back when you came to gloat three years after my wings were gone."
Harbringer's rage returned as his aura turned Red, and it extended out to Excalibur, "I am your judge, jury, and executioner, and I find you guilty of existence, therefore, I give you a chance to say something in that I shouldn't kill you."

Elijah had been greatly relieved when he saw Momo appear out of the forest, but his mood was destroyed when he saw what had followed her. What the flippin' hell is that thing? It appeared to be an oversized, very pissed off looking wolf, and it was heading straight for the three of them.
He heard Harbringer yell something, but he was too busy fumbling with the handle of the dagger he kept inside his denim jacket. He was able to pull it out, but he suddenly saw a flash of bright orange light emanate from the ground. The creature had halted, trapped by the magick symbol that the redhead had created. Figuring that the danger was over, he breathed a sigh of relief as he gently put his dagger back in its sheathe.
Elijah began to look around for Momo to see if she was okay. He spotted her hiding behind a nearby tree, and took a step towards her, flashing the biggest comforting smile he possibly could, as if to say "it's going to be okay".
But, of course, these sort of things never go as planned. Tybalt, the demon, shattered any hopes of a positive outcome with a deep, maniacal laugh. A fanged smile etched its way across his face. "Do you possibly think that your weak magick will contain me? I'm far more powerful than I was the last time we faced off, you ignorant hunter!"
To prove his point, Tybalt leaned backwards, emitting a howl could've shattered the heavens. Elijah winced in pain, covering his ears to try and block out the unholy noise. The pentagram containing him dissipated. Elijah knew he had to act fast, otherwise there would be plenty of death to go around. He crafted a ball of ice as fast as he possibly could.
Harbringer appeared to be in shock that his adversary was able to break his spell. Tybalt lunged forward to bite the redhead's face off--and he would've succeeded, had a ball of ice not shattered across his temple. The demon growled in pain, and turned his head in the direction that the offending object came from.
Elijah could feel the panic rising in him. The attack had bought him a few seconds of time to try and think of a follow-up, but he was drawing a blank. There's something about angering a demon that'll rip the guts right out of you--sometimes literally.
"You!" The demon roared. "How are you still alive?" He took a few steps towards Elijah. "Oh well, it won't matter. This time, I'll make sure you stay dead!" The demon lunged at him, but he had enough time to sidestep to safety. Elijah spun around, swiftly grabbing hold of his dagger, when Tybalt swung a paw at him, catching him square in the chest. Elijah flew back a few feet, landing on his back, knocking the wind out of him. The pain bolted through his body, as if he was on fire. He looked up quick enough to see Tybalt preparing to pounce on him.
He weakly cried out, "Harbringer! Help! Something that'll work this time!"

The nearby tree was really more of a nearby twig, or sapling if you had to get technical. In fact, Momo really couldn’t’ be considered in hiding, since she was in plain view to any creature with half a wit. As small as the sapling was, and as little sense as it made to be taking refuge behind its flimsy trunk, it gave Momo a little more comfort.
With her heart still thumping away in her chest Momo took staggered breaths to calm her lungs down from the burn they were feeling. It actually took concentration to keep her feet planted on the ground, for they supported the idea to keep running. Elijah’s smile helped.. A little. At least until an earsplitting howl let out by Tybalt nearly brought Momo to her knees. Her small hands clapped themselves over her ears and she winced feeling the reverberation strike the ground and travel up her legs. The poor sapling shivered all the way up until his leaves shook.
Momo recovered just in time to see the havoc Tybalt was reaping. Just a moment ago Harbringer had seemed in control but now Tybalt controlled the game and Elijah was in checkmate. With gasp Momo recoiled as Elijah took Tybalt’s paw square to the chest. There was no hiding the panic she felt. Elijah was down and Tybalt was going in for the kill. She had to dos something but what could she do? No matter how many times she’d gone through prepared scenarios at the monastery nothing was even close to this.
Helplessly Momo watched Tybalt’s legs coiled into tight wads of muscle ready to pounce Elijah. If Elijah died she would be a failure. A monk’s first duty was to put others before themselves, monks were guardians of the people. Her face set itself with determination, and gathering up her courage Momo kicked up dust behind her in a desperate dash towards Elijah. In mid run she tossed out her hand which emitted a white light that wrapped itself around Elijah almost like wings. The light itself was cool but felt like a thin atmosphere around Elijah’s entire body, even after the whiteness dissipated.
Feeling exhausted from the spell Momo slowed into a jog then to a stop where she leaned forward putting her hands on her knees to catch her breath again. “ It’s a protection spell!” Momo shouted to Elijah. “ Hurry it only lasts for a little bit!”

Harbringer roared, as he brought up a dagger to both his hands and slit them so that blood flowed freely, then he took his staff in his hands and blasted it down in the ground, and with the other hand, took the dagger and put it crosswise on the staff.
"DEMON!" roared Harbringer, "YOU ARE BOUND BY THE FATHER, THE SON AND THE HOLY SPIRIT, YOU ARE ALSO BOUND BY BLOOD AND BY MY WILL, AS IT HAS BEEN ORDAINED BY THE POWERS, YOU ARE BOUND BY ALL THAT IS AND ALL THAT IS HOLDING, YOU WILL SURRENDER YOURSELF TO THIS POWER SO THAT YOUR JUDGEMENT I BRING, MAY BECOME BEHOLDEN TO YOU, YOU ARE OF DARKNESS AND OF SORROW, AND BY THIS, I BIND YOU BY LIGHT AND LOVE, BY THIS THERE SHALL BE NO ATTEMPTS OF ATTACK OR RETALIATION, AS LONG AS THERE IS BLOOD FLOWING, THEN I HOLD YE WITH THE POWER INVESTED IN ME AS A GUARDIAN OF HEAVEN!!"
The bindings held, and Harbringer watched as Momo's spell retrieved Elijah.
"DEMON," Roared Harbringer, "YOUR BATTLE IS NOT WITH THE BOY OR THE GIRL, BUT IT IS WITH ME, IF I RELEASE YOU, YOU WILL FIGHT ME AND ME ONLY, NO OTHERS WILL BECOME INVOLVED IN THIS, SINCE THIS BATTLE IS AND FOREVER MEANT TO BE, IT HAS BEEN ORDAINED THAT MY BLADE WOULD DESTROY YOU!"
Taking the staff up, Harbringer slammed it down again, as another surge of energy and blood went into the binding. Harbringer had never truly and fully recovered from his wings being shorn off, and the loss of blood from that, though it had been stopped, had kept him a lot of pints short, he couldn't recieve blood because of the fact that no blood could mix with his, he knew that what he was doing was a long shot, that all was needed was a miracle, and he needed that miracle.

A lot had happened in the past few seconds. It started off innocently enough with Elijah hitting his head on his trip earthward, then seeing a dull glow of white light wrap around him, and now there was this slightly unnerving tingling sensation traveling through his body. Right after that, there had been another flash of orange light, and Harbringer had begun screaming at Tybalt, who seemingly was in another one of the fallen one's binding spells.
Elijah shouted, "Dammit, I said something that's going to work, not the same trick you tried last time!" Harbringer must not have heard him, for his concentration was fully aimed at the demon. He seems more determined now, since he knows what he's up against this time. Maybe I aught to shut up.
He then focused on the tingling he was experiencing. Heart attack? No, couldn't be. He remembered hearing Momo shouting something about a protection spell, which would explain everything. Rubbing the back of his skull, he sat up with a wince. After shaking the stars out of his eyes, he braced a hand on one knee and stood up. Momo appeared to be physically exhausted--the spell must've drained a lot out of her. He wanted to get her to safety, but then there was the matter of Tybalt. What to do, what to do.
He could feel the tingling begin to fade, which was a sign that the spell was about to wear off. He looked over at the demon, who looked as if he could break out of the binds again any second now. Harbringer was beginning to tremble, pouring his strength into keeping his spell intact. Blood was pouring out of his hands and down his staff.
Elijah settled on doing a little of both. Closing his eyes, he could feel two foot-long, pointed icepicks forming in his outstretched hands. With what strength he could muster, he ran towards Tybalt, screaming as he jumped through the air. The demon looked upwards at the oncoming human, and after a flash of denim, Elijah rammed both of the icepicks through his clavicles. Tybalt howled in pain, and was able to break one of his monstrous arms out of the magical bind, batting at his attacker once again.
Strangely enough, the healing spell was still in effect: Elijah barely felt a thing as he sailed twenty feet through the air until his flight was interrupted by a tree. He landed on his feet, and after a few seconds of disbelief, he giddily shouted, "That was friggin' awesome!" The smile instantly faded when he realized that he had done nothing but piss the demon off even more. And of course, with Tybalt angrier than he already was means that Momo would be in even more danger, and that was something Elijah couldn't live with.
Quickly thinking, he shouted at Harbringer. "Hey! Momo needs to get to safety! I'm going to help her get away, I trust you can handle things here?" Without waiting for a response, he jogged to where the monk was knelt, holding his hand out to help her get away from this battlefield.

Harbringer wanted to stop Elijah, but he couldn't. Elijah would break the boundary protection, and D.M would be free, and that was going to hurt, especially the backlash. Harbringer saw Elijah run and hit the demon with an ice dagger, Harbringer could of predicted what it would do, but he knew he was going to be feeling the after effects.....
now.
Harbringer felt the backlash, and it caused him to fall on the ground, in pain. Elijah you idiot, harbringer thought. Harbringer had the demon and was about to start purging him, but Elijah being headstrong and of course in love, didn't think to maybe not do anything. The demon was pissed, and Harbringer was trying to remember his name, because a binding would only truly work if the name was used along with everything else. But it was nearly a century ago when Harbringer fought him, and that name didn't really mean much, since Harkonis had been there, and done most of the fighting.
Harbringer heard Elijah say something, but everything was all blurry, he was having trouble concentrating, and he was hurting even more with the blood he'd used to use the circle.
Ouch.
The demon sauntered over to Harbringer, and laughed, "How does it feel to be defeated fallen guard?" How does it feel that you will die by my hand?"
Harbringer felt tears, he knew he was going to die.
