If there are creatures that players have come across through their travels in Dheathain and would like see added to the Beastiary, feel free to contact me.

Name: Algora
Location: Luthmor
Description: A cat creature that lives deep within Luthmor. Lone adventurers and warriors have to be particularly cautious of this territorial creature. It normally does not attack large groups of travellers, but anyone by themselves should be war. Even if the creature isn’t hungry, it will attack if it feels you’re invading its territory. Adapted mainly to hunt at night, it is possible to scare it off by creating a rather loud noise or sudden, blinding light. Algora hare mainly solitary beasts, but it isn’t rare to find them in groups of two or three, especially the young ones.

Algora are roughly five feet in length, excluding their tails, and one foot high when on all fours. Their bodies are slender and hide a lot of compact muscle designed to help them pounce on their prey. They aren’t extremely fast and rely on surprise to catch their meals. Their ears and paws are rather large and look disproportioned to the rest of their bodies. They also have long thick tails to help them keep their balance, especially when moving through the trees, which they spend over half their lives in. Their fir is short and think, which helps protect against the constant rain and the colours allow them to blend into their surroundings. Fur is usually light to dark brown with black spots and black paws, however occasionally one is born with completely black fur. Their eyes are always a gold to golden brown colour.

Name: Scath
Location: Ruins of the Ancients
Description: Not much is truly known about Scaths and just what they are because they’re nearly impossible to study. They only appear in the ruins of the Ancients, usually around dusk or dawn, but they have been known to appear at other times. They have a humanoid shape to them without any discernable features, not even eyes. Their bodies mainly look like shadows, making them extremely hard to see in direct light, which might have something to do with why they’re mainly seen at dusk and dawn. No matter what lighting they’re in, their bodies are translucent. They appear to have little to no mass and can easily move through solid objects, including people. If one were to walk through you, it was feel like a sudden and intense cold overcoming your body.

Scaths do not necessarily attack people. They drain their life’s energy from their victims, slowly killing them in a sense. A small exposure to this does little to nothing to the victim, other than some weakness and dizziness. If the Scath(s) are not stopped though, they will kill the person by draining all the energy from their body.

Physical weapons do not seem to hurt them, unless they’re enchanted. Magic appears to be the only thing that harms a Scath, and even then it just scares them away. No one has yet to find a way to kill them.

Name: Wyrms
Location: Dheathain
Description: Wyrms are believed to be a less evolved version of dragons. They are flightless, earthbound creatures that can be found throughout the entirety of Dheathain. Each type of wyrm is specifically suited to the area it lives in.

Runda – The Runda lives in the grasslands between Talmhaidh and Luthmor. These wyrms grow to a maximum length of two feet. They’re fat, with flat looking head that have a fan of spikes protruding from the back of their skulls over their necks to protect it. They have long claws on their paws that are extremely strong and never stop growing, no matter what period of life they are in. Runda’s use these claws to help dig their burrows and tunnels. Almost ¾ of a Runda’s life is spent underground. Rarely are they ever seen above for fear of predators. Their diet consists of bugs and insects, as well as roots and small rodents that they can come across.

Faoi – This wyrm looks closer to a snake than a dragon and lives in the murky waters of Fiorair. The biggest Faoi ever found was eight feet, six inches long. Their bodies are slim and adapted to swimming underwater but house a lot of packed muscle. However, they still possess their legs and the younger Faoi are known to crawl onto various pieces of land found in the swamp. The Faoi mainly eat fish and other aquatic animals that are small than them. However, were someone to fall into the swamp or decide to go swimming, the Faoi would not turn down such an easy meal. They are extremely fast below the surface, but above they are much slower than an average human.

Sleamhnaigh – The Sleam is the only one of the wyrms that has adapted over the years and retained its wings. They cannot actually fly though; instead they use the wings to glide from tree to tree or from trees to the forest floor. Sleam’s live in the forests of Luthmor, usually close to bodies of water, but you can find them almost anywhere. They are both predator and prey in the forest, growing to be roughly three and a half to four feet in length; there are plenty of smaller creatures for them to eat and bigger creatures to eat them. Their bodies are neither slim, nor chubby, resting somewhere in between and their paws have jointed fingers on them, which allow them to easily grasp branches and reach into burrows in trees. They also have long tails to help keep their balance and also wrap around branches. Sleams are not normally dangerous to creatures larger than them, unless provoked. However, their saliva is paralysing to most races.

Name: Wyrven
Location: Grasslands and Neahm Mountains
Description: Another lesser developed race than dragons. Wyrven are slightly closer in looks to their dragon cousins, but far more violent than Wyrms. There are also only two types of Wyrven found in Dheathain.

Cailpis – They live in the Grasslands between Talmhaidh and Luthmor. They usually nest on top of the few rocky hills that line the grasslands and are known to be extremely territorial as well as violent. Any person crossing to Luthmor would have to keep a sharp eye out for them. They are not intelligent though and if one is smart enough they should easily be able to avoid one unless they stumble directly into ones nest. Cailpis grow to be roughly twelve feet from head to tail, a good three feet of that alone removed just for the length of their tails. Their scales vary in colour from greenish brown, to red and even rarely purple. Their wingspan is about ten feet. They walk on their hind legs and use their shorter front arms for attacking or grasping things.

Mearog – These Wyrven live in the Neahm Mountains, beside their dragon cousin. They are mostly unwanted there, as the Mearog and Dragons do not often get along when they run into each other. Mearog grow to be roughly sixteen feet long from head to tail, four feet of that length being their tail. They’re fat around the middle and a little slower than the Cailpis. They have a spiked fan that covers the back of their neck, one of their new weaker points. Their tail is one of their greatest weapons though, being extremely fast and covered in spikes along its tip. They crawl around on all fours, using their claws to dig under the rock and find roots as well as disturb the burrows of other animals. They will eat and attack anything that’s smaller than them.
