The House of Sora's main thread has moved here (http://www.althanas.com/world/showthread.php?t=11520).

I like the way this is set up, and the general jist of it. I could see it going far, it's well made. However, hard to build up. If you haven't seen the Red Hand's thread then I'd ask you to check it out, we could use architects and building engineers for the establishment of our new 'town/outpost'.

This is an extension of good will and possible alliance with our group, and I would like to talk to you more about the possibilities of future endeavors between the clans.

Catch me on AIM sometime, or via PM, either one will work fine...

I might be interested in doing an initiation quest, but I don't see any of the ones you stated...

aanyways, i'll donate 50 gold to the treasury for a quicker pace of things. So if i were to join...could I get the Nimbus house title? I like the sound of it.

Indeed, Streak. You're welcome to join the House of Sora. I made a mistake and forgot to post the missions. If you prefer a mission I can pm you one.

To start of I'm donating the entirety of my personal gp to the House, and submitting Lodge Peregrine as requested by The Architect. I'd absolutely love for the members of Peregrine to join this group even if it isn't this lodge.

Lodge Peregrine
The Peregrine Lodge is an international private equity firm. It is named after Rajani Aishwara’s luxury ship, The Peregrine in which it is headquartered. The firm operates four fund families, focusing on leveraged takeovers, venture growth & capital, real estate, and leveraged finance investments. The former Peregrine Group's goal, economic interest for the greater good, is similar to what the House of Sora seeks for the world, which is why this annex has taken place. For those who enter membership into Lodge Peregrine a commitment of ten percent of their monetary earnings after getting into the group is required. For example if one enters a battle and earns ten gp. One gp would go to the House. This is meant to fund the benefits later offered to members of the House of Sora.

Patriarch of the Lodge: Rajani 'Stardust' Aishwara (Entrepreneur)

Hello Architect! It seems that things worked out quite nicely, and so I'll be joining in under the Lodge of Peregrine!

Lillian 'Welkin' Sesthal (Scholar)

Also, I'll participate in the initiation.

And I'll edit in a list of House titles, as per the Architect's suggestion!

Here's a start, a list of basic titles:

Twilight
Dusk
Dawn
Eclipse
Nebula
Nova
Meteor
Equinox
Solstice
Quasar
Umbra & Penumbra
Comet
Corona
Cepheid – Any of a class of intrinsically variable stars with exceptionally regular periods of light pulsation.
Apoapsis – Farthest point of an orbit to its central body.
Periapsis – Closest point of an orbit to its central body.

–apsis can be replaced by (lune/selene/gee/hellion to change what the central body is, for the exception of aphelion)
Zenith – Upper Region of the Sky
Nadir – Opposite to the Zenith
Sidereal – Concerning stars and constellations
Empyreal – Relating to the heavens or skies
Cumulus – Globular cloud
Azimuth – the angle between the vertical plane containing it and the plane of the meridian, for a celestial bodies.
Iris – Latin for rainbow
Nubes – Latin for cloud
Aster – Latin for star
Caeles – Latin for sky
Nox - latin for night

The names of satellites could be interesting too. Make up your own, or find them for real word moons!

Also, feel free to mix and match, add prefixes and suffixes, whatever you wish.

Lodge Vespera Missions:

Here Rests the Materia Nematoda (Lodge Vespera) – Exploring the Black Desert does not make for leisure walk, but it is a well-known fact that the greatest treasures lie in the most treacherous lands. In the southeastern regions of the desert near the Dwarf Hills, a species of sandworms has evolved in the most peculiar of ways: instead of naked white skin, they are covered with a thin shell of utter black, which can grow as strong as mithril and is highly-flexible. Some believe the mutation was merely due to the dark sands, but a band of elven researchers on the field have surmised that prolonged exposition to an unknown substance, possibly a metal, was the cause. Lend them a helping hand by scouring the desert for these creatures and in exchange, bring back all that you can: shells, eggs, live samples. If possible, also investigate on what could have caused the metamorphosis. Exercise caution; these creatures are only hostile when provoked, in which case they will attack in swarms. Remember to bring water and sustenance for the trip, and be wary of poisonous scorpions and the wandering ghosts of the Durklan. PM Ataraxis upon claiming this quest for secret details.

The Myth of the Foinse Saoil (Lodge Vespera) – Dheathain is a land of mysteries, and as such it is not foolish to think that within its womb lies equally mysterious magic. Ruins of the Ancients litter these mystic grounds, and it is believed that technological remnants of this civilization can still be found. Inside the swamp of Fiorair, is it rumored that one such ruin has recently begun lighting up at midnight, casting a deep blue light over the swamplands. Since then, there have been sightings of strange specters wandering the woods, leaving a trail of blossoms and green grass wherever they go. Investigate the ruins and if deemed friendly, make contact with these creatures. Where life blooms, great power lies: find it, understand it. If possible, take it. PM Ataraxis upon claiming this quest for secret details.

I'd like to join with this character and claim the quest "Advent of the Labor."

Main house, Anila "Keikoku" Sakurazuka

Anila's an Akashiman noble, this is a feasible quest for her.

06-24-07, 06:28 PM
 I was waiting for you to post. Welcome to the House of Sora, Anila.
What does your house title mean by the way?

Anila
06-24-07, 06:33 PM
Beauty. She's a vain little thing, lol.

But she's got the looks to back it up.

Anyone want to join the quest? Go see some of Akashima, be guests of nobility?

I'd normally say that the house title has to have something to do with the sky, but I think I'll make this one exception. In terms of the quest, I think you're going to have to look outside this group. I'm swamped, as are the others. Perhaps Streak could quest with you?

Anila

Then I'll change it to "Shuensha," which is a word meaning "star."

You're a definite welcome addition to the team.

Io Beauregard
06-25-07, 08:57 PM
Would you take a look at this. You've got an architect, surveyor, ship builder, mason, diplomat, librarian, noble, an entrepreneur, and a couple of warriors. You probably have the most diverse crew in all of Althanas. You're missing one thing though. An Artist.

Io "Nox" Beauregard submits his application to the main house with 50gp.

ps. I'm Rajani Aishwara's roomate and my laptop is on the fritz, so until then we'll be using the quick account switch feature on his computer. Don't be alarmed if I sound like him vise-versa.

Welcome, Io B.

Don't forget everyone to...

1. Update your personal profile. I totally forgot we were able to do that.

2. Subscribe to this thread. That way you'll be able to stay up to date on what's going on.

Christina Bredith

Christina "Rosette" Bredith

("Rosette" is the name of a particular nebula. I hope that's okay?)

As per a discussion with The Architect, I'll be heading up the tactical branch of the House of Sora!

Lodge Bladestorm
The name "Bladestorm" comes from the name of an offensive initiated by the ancient Coronian clans over 2000 years ago to expel the foreigners who, though at first welcomed into the land, had begun encroaching on their nomadic way of life. As the House of Sora understands and embraces the fact that peaceful solutions to problems are sometimes fanciful thinking at best, the lodge stands as its vanguard in military and tactical affairs when diplomatic methods fail to achieve the desired result. Members of Lodge Bladestorm may be drawn from a wide array of experiences, from those who live only for battle, to those frail, brilliant few who prefer to think up the strategies and tactics and leave the grunt work for their subordinates; all warriors and strategists may find their place here.

I'm not sure which initiation quest to take just yet... I don't know if maybe you had anything particular in mind. (Just wondering, because the other two Lodges seem to have their own quests as well.) But I'll ponder some more on that matter, if that's alright.

The Architect
06-26-07, 12:16 AM
Super Awesome! Christina, if you really want to do an initiation quest you could make one up or join me in a quest of mine. It's called The Day Radasanth Sank (http://www.althanas.com/world/showthread.php?t=5511) and it's recently gone inactive. I'd be indebted to you if you came and saved that thread out of oblivion. It's my first quest ever.

ANNOUNCEMENT: The following sections of the Group Profile have been edited, Admissions, Membership, and Missions. Take a look at them and see what's changed. I've gone into a little more detail with the Admissions, I've explained the roles of the Patriarchs/Matriarchs, I've updated the secret missions, and more. Hopefully it'll be the last time I change the profile until I add the benefits, but give me some feedback. I'm trying to make the group's internal dealings as flexible and fluid as possible.

It looks like the member base of our Power Group has rounded out quite well, but we can't stop now. We really have to go for the gold in getting people to join, participate, and commit. Five out of eight of our current missions have been claimed, our minimum balance has been paid, and we're well on our way to becoming a force for progress in Althanas.

I'd like to take a moment and thank Rajani Aiswara and his roomate Io B. They've had a really rough real life experience with the death of a dear friend, and they still came back to play in Althanas and support this group.

I'd also like to thank the First Lady of the House of Sora, the Valkyrie, and wish her a happy birthday. She was the first member to jump on board even though the likelihood of its success was little to none, and her consultancy has been critical to the development of the group.

Thank you, everyone, for entrusting your gp, time, effort, and creativity to the progression of this group. You all could've gone somewhere else, but you came here.

Rajani Aishwara
06-26-07, 08:19 PM
It's all great, but what if you go away? We have plenty of active members here, but that could all come to a screetching halt if you disappear. Maybe we should put a succession line in place just in case something happens to you. I'm confident my group would still be alive and kicking today if I had put something into place.

I'm sure this has crossed other people's minds before, but we're the richest PG so far, and we're probably the biggest target on everyone's list. Maybe we should purchase some defensive improvements before the end of our grace period.

After a productive discussion with The Architect, it has been decided that I will lead the R&D branch of the House of Sora! In counterpoint, I am no longer allowed matriarchy over the Lodge Peregrine, but will return as either a subordinate or a consultant.

Lodge Vespera
‘Chase not the tail of time, but hold its leash. Be not a follower of bygone glories, but spearhead into a future of prosperity.’ To merely fall into the strides of progress is not the goal of Lodge Vespera; its task is to light the path into the darkness of ignorance, as does the evening star after which it was named. In keeping with the philosophy of the House, the members of the association strive to bring beneficial changes to the world through the synergic combination of science and magic. Whatever knowledge they do not possess is sought out, assimilated and, with assiduity and efficiency, improved upon. The mages and scientists of this lodge are pioneers, working hand in hand to surpass whatever obstacle stands in their respective ways. For this reason, they have accomplished much, from innovations in the realm of transportation to groundbreaking advancements in military arms. Welcome are the open and inquisitive minds that fear not the call of grand discoveries, for in Lodge Vespera, the sky is never the limit.

Matriarch of the Lodge: Lillian "Welkin" Sesthal (Ataraxis) (Scholar)

Also, one new Quest is now pending for the Mission Board.

I'm interested in doing the Artisans quest with whoever as an initiation quest. If that's at all possible.

The Architect
06-28-07, 08:50 PM
@ Everyone: Alright. Lodge Vespera has now been added to the Group Profile as the fourth and final Lodge of the House of Sora. As the group that works for the progression of world civilization we now have a Lodge that represents every significant aspect of civilization. Bladestorm is military, Diviyoni is diplomacy, Peregrine is finance, Vespera is technology & magic, and the Main House covers the core entity of the group. The House of Sora is now complete, and we will no longer be adding any Lodges, although we are still accepting members.

@ Rajani Aishwara: Point taken loud and clear. We are a target with that much money, but I would like to wait until near the end of our grace period to purchase some improvements. That way we'll have some time to amass even more funds.

@ Alberdyne Cormyr: Why don't you just join the group and take the quest yourself?

Falcon Darkflight
06-29-07, 04:17 AM
Bane "Sol" Flaresto.

I'll join Lodge Bladestorm. I believe Bane's skills will be most effective here.

As a goodwill gesture, I will also donate 100GP to the clan, but I am more interested in completing an initiation quest for backstory purposes.

Please note I am on vacation for two weeks as of this Monday, but consider my loyalty to the clan to be absolute.

The Architect
06-30-07, 07:37 AM
Welcome to the House of Sora, guys. Unfortunately, Falcon, "Sol" was already taken by one of the house npc's. Give me a name that hasn't been taken and I'll add you to the member's list. And about joining specific lodges...

Main House members are not necessarily supposed to join a specific lodge for the purpose of flexibility. Instead they are supposed to commit their efforts to the needs at hand, and if you show competence in a specific field, the head of that Lodge is free to make you an honorary member of that Lodge or even a fellow head.
We do have a few Lodge Bladestorm missions available, so if you want to claim them feel free to.

Advent of The Artisans is a very critical quest to the development of the House of Sora. In fact it may be the most important alongside the Advent of Labor in creating a legitimate homeostasis for the group. I’m going to claim the quest, but I definitely need some help on this one because I had something extremely ambitious and unorthodox in mind. We need artisans, right? So why not get the best artisans in the world? And of course we need resources from which those artisans to work, right? So why not access the best resources in the world?

Kachuck: This looks like the only official mine in Althanas, but who better to get our heavy weapons and armor from than the Dwarves.

Raiaera: We need their sword smiths and their bowyers.

Corone: Cloth of all kinds. We gotta look good!

Fallien: We need their horses.

Here’s where things get crazy! Above we see four separate locations and the things we need from them, but we’d have to do four quests. So here’s my idea. 4 Player Characters, 4 Separate Locations, 1 Thread. The story goes as follows. Seti Dylan sends a House volunteer out to each of these locations on a one month apprenticeship. If Io went to Kachuck he’d offer himself up as an apprentice to a family of blacksmiths and miners. If he went to Raiaera he’d offer himself up to a master crafter, in Corone he’d offer himself to a tailor, and in Fallien he’d offer himself to an equestrian tribe in Survani’s Oasis. Since it is supposed to be a month’s time ICly it wouldn’t be appropriate to make it one quest or even four quests, but as a series of short stories. After the introduction every post would be a stand alone story depicting the player character’s life so far and their developing relationship with the npcs. In the end our characters will hopefully earn the respect of the professionals and they will offer their services to the House of Sora. If that sounded too confusing here’s an example.

Post 1 – Io Beauregard approaches the heavily guarded gates of Kachuck and is almost shot by a crossbow. The Dwarven city guards almost attack, but Io lays down his weapons as an offering of peace. They escort him into the city and after a turbulent conversation with the city’s leader he is taken the family to whom he is to grant his services.

Post 2 – Aiden goes to Anebrilith, Raiaera to find the Devin and Aurelia Starcraft. Devin is an expert at making swords, and Aurelia is an expert at making bows and arrows. He finds the couple in a park, and after a few minutes of socializing he offers himself as an apprentice to them. They reluctantly agree and set him up in a servant’s quarters in their estate.

Post 3 – Lillian Sesthal journeys to a small village in the foothills of Corone, where Ebony Arachis, the best weaver and cultivator of silk resides. Lillian politely introduces herself then announces her purpose. Ebony agrees and directs her to the nearest inn in which she may stay.

Post 4 – Nekomata traverses along Fallien’s colossal river until he reaches Survani’s Oasis, where the Mikraalyhash tribe, better known as the Equestrian tribe lives. They know the secrets to taming Fallien’s wild steeds as every member older than twelve years of age has his or her own horse. He had done his research and he approaches them with offerings of wild strawberries as he explains his purpose. Suddenly a rival clan attacks, and he proves his loyalty by assisting in the defense of the tribe’s current settlement. They accept him, but he is to sleep outside under the stars.

Post 5 – It’s been a week and the patriarch of Io’s host family has yet to show him the mines or any of his smith work… Until today, when they journey with a party of miners into the dark and vast shafts to mine for some mythril. Io is ridiculed over his week arm, and is chastised when he overlooks a small deposit. He is seemingly useless until a giant spider attacks. He proves his valor by warding the spider off along side the Dwarves, all armed with nothing but mining picks.

Post 6 – Aurelia is offended when she realizes that Aiden does not take a particular liking in her cooking. She challenges him to a duel of first blood and wins with ease. DarkStorm stands up and requests a rematch, but looses again. He constantly gets up again and again until Aurelia forfeits and commends him on his determination. Maybe now she’ll actually show him how to make a bow.

Post 7 – Over the past week Lillian has been learning how to make silk garments and catching on quickly, but today she arrived late. There was a bar fight in the inn she was staying at, and it held her up, but Ebony doesn’t care. The two argue about Lillian’s commitment until Ebony finally tells her to leave and to come back in one week’s time.

Post 8 – The Equestrian Chief’s wife has been kidnapped by a rival tribe, and now everyone in the settlement is blaming Nekomata by using flawed strings of logic to connect his presence to the kidnapping. The Chief knows this is not true, but the tribe will continue to bully Nekomata until he proves himself, and this is the opportunity to do so. The Chief temporarily grants him the use of a trained horse, and together they rescue his wife. The Chief plays up Nekomata’s contribution to the rescue, and a celebration in his honor is arranged for that night.

The short stories would continue until each of us has made at least six posts, one for every week our characters serve the apprenticeship. Of course since the quest will only rack up to around twenty four posts, we’d have to make sure every post is a quality stand alone story with a beginning, middle, and end. And we have to do it in record time. I know clan wars and raids a mostly dependant on writing quality, but it would be nice to have an IC advantage as well. 1 Post a day would be great, and with three other participants we’d only have to post once every four days if we stay on schedule. We’d have it done by the end of the month and hopefully have our artisans before the end of the grace period.

More than horses, you need Fallien's glass. The only place in the world some of that glass can be found is Fallien, and for quality stained windows, you want that pane glass they find in the Fields of Glass. I would think it more likely (and more challenging) that we'd find an apprentice glasswalker (the Nirrakali name for those who harvest and make the glass in Fallien) more useful and unique than a horse trainer --- although that is certainly another useful thing to have. That is of course just my opinion.

Akhanatin “Aurora” Ra (NPC) (Mason) Looks it's taken already. >.>

And hello, by the way.

Io: I like the general idea, but I'd be worried about participating in something like that this soon- I don't know the continents very well yet. I have zero experience outside Dheathain, and even there, I have yet to read the entire information thread...

That's what I'm saying I want to take up the quest as my Initiation Quest. Whatever rewards I earn in the Quest I'll put up as my initial joining fee. I want to complete the quest with anybody else who still needs to complete an Initiation Quest or just generally wants something to do. I haven't picked my Lodge yet--I'll do that later. For now though I just want to make sure its okay that I do the Artisan's Quest.

The Architect
07-02-07, 09:23 PM
@ Alberdyne: OH OKAY. I totally misinterpreted your previous statement. I thought you were just offering your services. Well if that's the case we'll need your house title, which must have something to do with the sky. Take a look at the current member list to see which ones are already taken, and take a look at Ataraxis' first post to see a list of ideas.

As for that quest, Io Beauregard has already claimed it, but he definitely needs partners, at least three. Take a look at post #37 to see if you're okay with the idea and if you're willing to participate.

@The Valkyrie: I would definitely be in favor of acquiring a glassmaker, but I think Io's focusing on tactical resources for the future army. I wouldn't want to ask more of him, but I know Seti would love making a structure featuring tall windows of pane glass and stained glass. Perhaps we should find a way of acquiring one in Soil of The Sun? I really haven't thought of any other spoils besides Bryne joining the House.

@Jasmine: Welcome Jasmine "Dawn" Aurora. I hope your tenure with the House of Sora is a fruitful one.

@Io: PM members. Make sure they know your idea.

@Everyone: Io has a very valid point. Time is of the essence right now. The end of the grace period is August 18th and it's coming up fast, so we need to make progress even faster by acquiring more funds and purchasing defensive measures. It is worthy of mention that ICly we are the only benevolent group out of the four making us a natural target, and our money in the bank makes us even more so. Our more self serving counterpart is moving pretty quickly, so we need to as well. I'm willing to make every House mission that I'm in top priority by promising to reply within two days. With that said I'm going to go respond to a quest I've been out of for more than that lol. I don't expect everyone to promise this as well, but it would be great if we could all move the House missions up a spot in our Althanas to do lists. Don't stress yourselves too much though. Remember this is a game.

You have my word, but if I'm going to keep it I'll have to stick to the two quests I'm already in and the two I may accept.

I can't speak for roomie Io. He's out right now, but he's been divising an army for the Gisela Tournament since January. The concept excites him, and he's managed to get me interested as well. I may register in the tournament too if it's allowed.

I personally love the idea of a glass maker. I would need some time, but I think I might be able to get one to join the House of Sora. and to hopefully gain an apprenticeship for Leon. I just love Glass =P

Though, if a certain number of people were all willing to organize correctly, Io's thread might work. It would require a considerable amount of effort to keep it very safe for everyone and logical to follow, but believable. Each post would probably have to be long too. Still, it's an idea that could work.

The Architect

Would you be willing to do it, Artifex?

To get a glassmaker? Sure. Though I'll need time. I like the idea that Io had simply because I wouldn't need to write the full solo, but I think I could before the grace period is over if I needed to.

EDIT: If not clear. I would join Io's thread.

That's all right. I was kinda hoping to start the quest from scratch I already had an idea of how I was going to do it. So I guess I'll just wait until you have the next round of quests ready to go. I kind of like being the ST you know? I'll just wait on my application process until later then.

07-03-07, 01:18 AM
Just a note to fix in the member list, Jasmine's name should read: Jasmine "Dawn" Matrino. Since I can't use her middle name for her title, she prefers not to bother with it. ^_^

I've decided that I'm going to do an initiation quest, and I've thought of something the HoS can get out of helping Jas's homeland.

In exchange for the House's help in rebuilding after a recent devastating attack, the king of Moriah is willing to provide a building of almost any size for the HoS to use at their discretion, completely free. Basically, the crown has a lot of land that used to belong to lords/barons/etc that are now dead and have no heirs. On these lands are mansions, that are currently sitting empty gathering dust. Along with the land, the HoS would also have the crown's protection against raiders (they'd have to cross the ocean first as well). The crown would also be willing to provide a discount for members to travel to and from Moriah if the House chose to take the crown up on this offer.

What Moriah is in current need of:

new cliff top ballistic weaponry (i've sent this to Rajani already, but I've yet to hear from him about it)
new harbor, ships, city wall, and wallside homes/businesses that were destroyed in the initial attack.

I definitely want to do both of these at some point or another. I can also make one or both a top priority to get it done before the end of the grace period, if enough other people are willing to do the same.

I'll take that quest with you, Jasmine. Just link me when you throw the thread down.

That's all right. I was kinda hoping to start the quest from scratch I already had an idea of how I was going to do it. So I guess I'll just wait until you have the next round of quests ready to go. I kind of like being the ST you know? I'll just wait on my application process until later then.
I thought long and hard about this, and I think it would just be best to go with whatever you had in mind, Alberdyne. The idea I had for Advent of The Artisans is way too time consuming to get done soon enough to beat the end of the grace period, so I'm willing to be your partner for your quest. That way we can get ourselves som artisans in a timely manor, while we plan for my idea as a long term investment.

Advent of the Labor will move as quickly as streak does. I realize he's having internet problems at the moment, but I'm just saying.
Howz about I jump in on that and Streak can focus on his solo in Ettermire?

I'm thinking of entering the Gisela, who knows? If I win, (Which frankly would mean conquering all mighty warriors about as nerfed as the weird flying football itself) there's a chance I could get one of my PGs an HQ and since the GO is pretty much on life support(and failing) The House was the next PG I entered. OF course there is the other PG i'm soon to be in, but if that happens i'll just take the weapon and go :p

What I'm trying to say is, the more of us that get in the Gisela, the better our chances are of winning ourselves an HQ.

By the by: Can I use the NPCs that i'll eventually bring in to the house as two of my heroes? Seeing as they are my entirely made up characters i don't see why not, but i'm just checking to see if it's alright.

Just read all the posts i missed in the PG thread. I can get us our engineer before the grace period no problem, if only i had some light to turn my handwriting into typing...well on july 7th i'll have my gisela army done, and alot of the solo finished, you can count on me to make it a top priority! *salutes*

Io don't forget the Artisans quest man that should be at the top of the list right there. I have a pretty good plan for it. Its primarily gonna be a training quest with a lot of espionage mixed into it. I'd like to complete that one at some point pretty soon.

Okay. Anila and Alberdyne, your quests will be responded to TONIGHT. Now that the registration is done I can get down to business.

Great Job everyone. There has been great progress on the part of the development of the House of Sora. Keep up the good work. I would also like everyone to give a hail to Streak 101 and Io Beauregard for entering the Gisela Open and fighting to win an HQ. I have much confidence in them.

I'm going to be purchasing some things from the guild shop. A Basic Offensive Enhancement, a Basic Defensive Enhancement, and Separate Treasuries. The end of our grace period is creeping up on us, so I just wanted to get those things out of the way.

A couple of our Lodge Patriarchs and Matriarchs have given me a few more missions for us to complete, so I'm going to be condensing the mission listing and adding some new ones soon.

I'd also like to send a newsletter to everyone, but I don't think a PM would work because it doesn't allow enough words. I'm going to send this one via e-mail, but pm me letting me know you got it and whether or not a periodic newsletter via e-mail is going to work.

This sounds like it would be beneficial to the path laid out before Xos. Xos wishes to study the world of Althanas, and improve what it knows of Science, as a part of his quest to return home to Kessingale, and the alternate Reality it is contained in.

Xos is a Wizard by birth, and a scientist by trade, having a great degree of intellect and a curiosity not even death itself can stop.

It seems that if he did join, he would have a group of his peers to aid him in his research, to advise him, and offer input and theories into his quest to develop Magiscience.

Therefore, I submit that I would like to join, having the title of Divum, from the Latin language meaning Sky. I will contribute 50 Gold, and would be glad to undertake an initiation Quest.

(I sent this in response to the newsletter The Architect just sent out, and I'm reposting it here for everyone to see.)

You know, I may just have something as regards our feature quest that I'll throw out there for your general consumption. I've been mulling it around for a long time now, since it's a part of Christina's back story, and so first I was going to make it a solo or a quest, and then I thought of submitting it as a quest for the PG, and now with this newsletter, it might just work out even better than the other two...

Anyway, as you may know, as part of Christina's very first quest (mostly a prologue, really), her home town, a largeish city in Corone, was attacked by a raiding orc tribe and evacuated as a result. Naturally, she has been wanting to go back and clear the place out and take it back for the people who once lived there, but one woman against an army of orcs isn't much use. Soooo... I'll offer it up to tie in to the featured quest idea. I mean, obviously we'll need to get all the ideas together to figure out how we can amalgamate them, but consider this the first ingredient or something. ^^ It could, in the end, offer the PG with a base of operations (Christina happens to have once lived in a nice estate on the city's outskirts, now abandoned since her parents are dead), or resources from the city in thanks, or whatever we decide is best in the end.

I hope this will at least get the ball rolling. Sounds like a great idea!

@ Streak: If the profiles are too large for pm just send them to me here. It's not like they're supposed to be private. I'm going to have to send all the npc's to get registered anyways. Thank you for taking a Fleeting Desire. That was mighty cool of you, man.

@ Valanthe: Welcome to this ever growing family we call the House of Sora. It looks like you've come at the right time.

@ Everyone: This is awesome. All this stuff is coming together. Just so you know every asset of the House (NPC's, Items, Modes of Transportation, ect.) is available to every member thanks to a little concept we call liquid time unless I say otherwise. I'll be making an asset section in the Group Profile so you'll know what you have to work with.

This is very great that everyone is so enthusiastically jumping on to play these House missions. We have two more left, Hustle and Bladestorm's Blademen. Catch them while they're hot.

We've still yet to discuss what we're going to do for our featured quest. I've seen the PM's but I'd like to discuss them in daylight where everyone can hear the ideas.

07-31-07, 08:03 PM
Name: Koronato 'Koro' Molotai
Age: Sixteen
Race: Drow/Human
Gender: Male
Height: 5'7"
Weight: 125 Lbs.
Occupation: Engineer/Designer/Mechanic

Personality: Although prepared to work with others, Koronato works at his best alone, despite this, he enjoys helping others with what needs to be done. Koronato isn't the kind of person that takes orders without question, if it seems ludacris, he will speak his mind, in fact, he speaks his mind very frequently, never one to hide what he thinks or hide the truth(Although he is very adept at lying). Although kind, Koronato can never resist playing a good prank here or there, or zinging someone at the right moment. When in the face of danger, he will think rapidly, and find a solution. Koronato is a genius, and a prodigy at such a young age, and thus is expected to know a plethora of knowledge about anything that can be built.

Appearance: Koro has his hair not spiked, but askew towards the front in several layers on his head, and orange eyes. On his torso, he wears a white t-shirt, and an open leather jacket. He wears black leather pants, and black leather boots. Wrapped around each pant leg are two long silver chains that are clipped to the top, and bottom of each pant leg. The chains from the top to the bottom of the pant legs in a downward spiral. Koronato wears a pair of black leather gloves frequently, and occasionally wears a pair of goggles (The goggles resemble the goggles old plane pilots used to wear during WW1, or Vietnam, but are dilated(made smaller) to resemble today's swimming goggles.

History: Koro was born and raised in Alerar, his mother was a human, his father a drow. While the other children played in the sandbox, Koro was busy building his own toys, or watching his father working in his workshop. At the age of eleven, he began learning how to build small objects, and learned about the machines his father repaired, or built. His first successful creation was a dynamite stick with an applied adhesive coating, causing it to stick to anything it touched. Two years later, at the age of thirteen, Koronato's parents died in an accident due to the conflicts caused by Alerar and Raiaera. Koro does not blame the countries for the deaths, but does not hold the same loyalty to Alerar as the usual citizens do. With the loss of his family, Koro took over his father's business, and by the age of fifteen, the business was fairly popular, and other engineers would come to Koronato for his opinions and advice on certain subjects. This continued until Koronato became sixteen, business died down, and he was forced to take out loans, many engineers still came for his advice, but the number of visits had been reduced, and many forgot about the prodigy boy, Koronato had no purpose. Things were bad until Koronato met a mercenary Banda Utako one day, in a hardware store. Banda was recruiting engineers for an organization called The House of Sora. He offered Koronato his assistance in anything in return for becoming a House of Sora member, with nothing to lose, Koronato accepted. The mercenary did more than serve him, he saved his life from the loan shark that attempted to kill the engineer. Koronato was shocked by what the man did for him, and oweing his life to Banda, joined the House of Sora.

Weapons:

A side note: Koronato isn't one to start fights, but will calmly engage an enemy if it is the only thing he can do.

Leg Chains: Koro can unclip the top link of his chains to create two whips. When unlinked, the chains can be easily unwrapped around the pant legs with a kick, and can then be manuevered using his ankles. When unlinked and stretched out, the chains have a span of about four and a half feet.

Spanner: A steel wrench about one and a half feet long, four inches wide, and nearly one inch thick. Koro uses this when repairing or building, but also wields it like a sword if he must use it during battle.

Metal Bow: After a long week, Koro crafted a bow out of metal. Making the base out of iron, and the string out of metal coil. The bow is very powerful, but is inaccurate, and is better for attacking a large group of enemies, or a large target.

Skills: Lower Body Strength: Koro has unusual lower body strength, allowing him to jump three feet high, and six feet across. This passive also gives him acrobatic talents.

Engineer/Mechanical Skill: Koro is skilled at repairing building, and designing things. No matter the scale of the object, if someone has built it, Koro can too (Or break it down part by part depending on the situation). Although his designing abilities aren't as great as Seti Dylan's, Koro can design vehicles, weapons, mechanical parts, and certain kinds of armor.

Items: Metal Arrows: Koro can craft these arrows out of Iron, using them accordingly with his bow. These arrows are naturally stronger than wooden arrows, and can puncture through the human body, and certain kind of armor. The power is balanced by the inaccuracy of the bow that is used to fire the arrows. ((The amount of arrows that Koronato has everytime he starts a quest or battle is up to you, just know that the number of arrows should replenish to your said amount everytime you start a new quest, as Koro makes these when he isn't questing or fighting, unless he makes them during the quest.

Tool Box: A tool box that carries every tool an engineer can think of. Koronato usually has this somewhere on his body, or in a rucksack that is mounted on his back.

Rucksack: Used to hold Koronato's items and arrows.

((There you go, anything else you'd like to add to the engineer is up to you.))

Demetri's sheet is on the way :)

streak101
08-01-07, 01:56 AM
Name: Demetri Cornelius
Race: Fae
Gender: Male
Age: Twenty-four
Height: 5' 8"
Weight: 125 Lbs.
Occupation: Scholar/Historian/Sorceror/Traveler

Appearance: Demetri has straight purple hair that reaches to his shoulders, and behind his silver rimmed spectacles are bright blue eyes. He wears a burgandy robe and normal civilian shoes. On his left hand, he wears a leather fingerless glove, this is to protect him from any magical spells he casts (i.e. a fireball he casts), he wears no glove on his other hand. Under his robe he wears a blue shirt, and a pair of jeans. He wears a thin orange scarf on his neck, tied in a knot at the back of his neck, letting the two ends rest on his back.

Personality: I still haven't thought of a personality for Demetri as of yet, so I'll leave that to you, but at the least form one from his dialogue, and actions in Outreach to Alerar, and the quest that I'm doing in Luthmor.

History: Demetri was born into a couple of scholars. HIs mother and father were both highly respected scholars, but his mother also dabbled in magic. Demetri was taught the art of magic, and was put to the books, he was a quick learner in both. The young scholar had learned to cast a plethora of magics at a young age, but none for combat, and he also had learned of Althanas' history, and leader figures. He continued learning magic, and studying that soon he became addicted to it, nearly surpassing both his parent's skills. At the age of fourteen, Demetri's parents died, he mourned for an entire week, and then returned to his studies. A year later, Demetri decided it was time he learned how to defend himself, now being alone in the world. He opened his parent's books and learned of offensive and defensive magic, and also of the magical properties of the world. At the age of sixteen, he was an expert in magic, and history, his father's literature also taught him of magical artifacts, and properties he had not known before. Eight years passed, and Demetri met with Banda Utako, and Amaril Torrun, two mercenaries he had hired to aid him in saving the world from a threat. They were successful in doing so, and after, Demetri accompanied Banda to Alerar bent on seeing the world again after a ten year long hiatus. They aided a young genius boy named Koronato Molotai in order to gain his alliance with an organization called The House of Sora. His curiosity always getting the better of him, Demetri found that The House had a good cause, and he was interested in joining the ranks and aiding them towards world civilization, and ventured with Koronato to the House of Sora group location.

Spells: Having a number of spells already, Demetri's long list is too much to read. (in other words if you think of a spell, he knows it. Keep in mind that he is an NPC, and he won't use anything large and destructive against an enemy that the PC can battle against. Well, you get what I mean! The lower the level the PC is, the lower the power and destruction his offensive magic is, and vice versa.)

Skills: Mind-Read: Demetri is capable of reading minds, and does it whether he wants to or not, it works the same way as overhearing someones conversation, you either do it by accident or on purpose. Stronger minds can nullify this skill.

Weapons: None

Armor: None

Items: Magical sack: A magical sack that shrinks itself and whatever its holding to the size of a poor man's gold bag. The bag can also be enlarged to the size of a trash bag, and can hold as much as any bank.

Books: All the books Demetri has collected during his travels, and the ones he brought from home. (His collection of books might hold something useful for those that use him as an NPC...)

Well, thats Demetri, I'm still working out the kinks on my sheet, but go ahead and change anything on this one, since it's Demetri's althanas version :p and do stick to the personality guidelines I specified.

As for the Featured Quest, a free for all sounds best in my opinion. I would love to have my character introduce the assembly line to Ettermire. A note about that quest. Xos: Haha. Had shit come up with substance-related events involving a girl. I've been tied up nights and working days. Doing my best to get back on track here.

Archie: Do we have reason to expect moves on the part of any specific PG's? Or are you just setting us up as a precaution?

Archie: Do we have reason to expect moves on the part of any specific PG's? Or are you just setting us up as a precaution?
Here's the list of reasons. We have more money than any other power group so far. ICly we're the only remotely benevolent power group standing. The rest of these guys could be considered selfish robber barons, ruthless assassins with social Darwinism on the mind, or a loose group of mercenaries with no moral standing. Yes, we're the largest group for now, but the bigger they are the harder they fall.

Last but not least, I think everyone, attackers and defenders, would enjoy testing this system out. I may be paranoid, but I have no doubt in my mind that one of these groups has at least considered attacking us.

BTW: I've added links to the quests currently underway. If you're interested in what your fellow House members are doing, feel free to take a look.

Io I'm reminding you to post in the Artisan Quest. I wanna finish that bad-boy eventually and its not scheduled to be much longer than 20-30 posts. I have a bit of espionage planned for the latter part of the thread. It won't ALL just be black-smith training all though that's interesting too. Maybe we can make some swords to sell at The Bazaar for profit.

The Architect
08-15-07, 05:57 PM
You and Anila can write Io out and go solo if you really want to get your quests done.

Screw it! I'm double posting!

There are a couple of threads that our House of Sora members are in that aren't particularly missions of the House, but they're definitely threads to look out for. I actually have one on my radar that involves the Peregrine Pair, Rajani Aishwara & Ataraxis. In this particular quest Lillian and Rajani (with his ship's spunky, vivacious cook) set out to expand the international market and awaken Salvar's economy as a defensive measure against ambitious power groups. Yea it sounds boring. It sounds lame, but what could turn this simple business proposal into a life changing journey? Priya (http://www.althanas.com/world/showthread.php?t=4110)! Who or what is Priya? Read along and find out!

Hey Arch, think you can write up another newsletter? :p Either that or I wanna ask you whats the recent stuff going on in The House?

btw, that chain...do all members obtain it?

The Architect
08-24-07, 08:58 PM
All the members have the chain. If you're on the member list you have the chain.

As for the newsletter, I'm actually working on it right now. There are some things I need to clear up behind the scenes before I put it out though.

streak101

I'd like to apologize for my recent lack of participation with the House of Sora. Rajani Aishwara and I are sharing a PC and I really wanted to focus on the Gisela Open. That's still no excuse for forgetting about the two House quests I was involved in. I see The Architect has cleaned up my mess in Advent of the Artisans, but I'll be happy to resume our regular posting if in The Politics of Business if you'll have me, Anila.

Hey I heard something was going on with the House and Istien University. Me wanna know! Me wanna know! Me have BIG nose!

Also I know The Architect already asked us to refer some potential members to him, but are we going to go on a recruiting drive any time soon?

Atzar
08-29-07, 06:30 PM
Basically, House + Istien comes down to this: make threads there. Any and all magic can be practiced there... song magic is in the way of a specialization. Kind of like, your average school specializes in engineering, but it has classes in just about everything.

So yeah. Istien would be a great target for our magic-oriented members, and Sighter would love the activity. So if you take an interest in learning magic for your character, go for it.

Well, The Architect has been busy, and the same goes for Rajani and Io. I've PMed them, and I believe they'll get back to me sometime next week.

streak101
10-24-07, 09:45 PM
Well the Architect is probably really busy now, so I guess you'll have to wait awhile...

which reminds me...what if the Architect is absent for awhile? Shouldn't there be someone to handle any newcomers and such when he's not around?

Ataraxis
10-24-07, 10:04 PM
We had planned something like that out, but it's never been quite official. I'd assume the interim role if I didn't feel I'd be terrible at managing this. But I guess if we go by technicalities, Valk and I are 'next in line'.

My evil scheme is falling into place!!

I can say, though, that Solstice is a fine title, and that you may choose whichever quests are available on the missions board, in first post of the first page! For example, Hustle, or the Bladestorm's Blademen. Even if it's from a completely officious house leader, let me say: "Welcome to the House of Sora, Afra 'Solstice' Longbraid!"

Abenaki
10-24-07, 10:04 PM
I would think so, but who knows.

I recently completed the thread I was using as my initiation thread, but now what?

Activity, or lack thereof, is the death of many a powergroup.

EDIT: Bladestorm's Blademen has been completed. Just the first post hasn't been updated since it was started.

Ataraxis
10-24-07, 10:45 PM
Ah, very sorry Abenaki! I hadn't made the link between that and the Terranus Defection! My brain is more tired than I had previously thought.

But don't buy a coffin just yet. At least eight of the members shown in the first post are still active. We just need a call-to-arms and an updated mission board.

In any case, thank you very much, Abenaki! Your efforts will bring prosperity to the House! Congratulations for finishing the second House quest!

Question though, does the manor now belong to Jada/Bane? And does JB still remember his mission? If so, it'd be a good idea to add that the Mansion was also gained as a PG spoil!

Hullo, I'd like to join this most auspicious group. I am known as Monica, and I would request the title of Snowcrest, if the house would have me. I am currently working on an initiation quest with Ataraxis, so that's all covered.

10-25-07, 03:46 PM
Excellent Question Ataraxis. I actually completely forgot the add the manor as a powergroup spoil at the end. That update has been made.

As to whether or not Jada/Bane recalls the entirety of his mission is entirely up in the air right now. He'll probably still remember it having something to do with the House, but I haven't really decided yet.

Arti, whenever you can, man!

Maz, I'm glad you're back, and sorry I got your PM too late. I'll catch you later today! I haven't seen Xos around lately, but Banda's been true to the House ever since, so I'm sure you guys can work something out!

And here it is, folks!

Also on my first post in this thread.

I'd also like to remind everyone that there are three Ressource Missions available on the first page. Their completion is of the utmost importance, so if you're thinking but still unsure about taking one on, just throw caution to the wind and pick one up on a whim!

Streak are we still gonna do that hustle mission? I'm still down to complete that thing man.

If you can start it up yeah

EDIT: If neither Seline or Valanthe post in FD by TONIGHT I'll just go ahead and finish it meself.

Oh, Seline will only be back home tomorrow, and I know she wants to complete that quest. If you do post today, would it be possible to give her some sort of opening to fit back into the fray, maybe?

And I haven't seen Xos in a while, so I'm not sure if he'd suddenly post out of the blue, but you can hope.

Rajani Aishwara

Wow. We're at two hundred posts. That's impressive. Maybe we should make another thread.

Streak IM me with the details of the quest and we'll get it rolling.

My mission for this month.

Its not open, but its an FQ Mission. I figured there needs to be a House of Sora presence in the FQ to balance out all the other PG's in that bad boy.

Here's the thread;

Ladies and Gentlement of the House I would like to announce that Alberdyne 'Corona' Cormyr is the new Patriarch of Lodge Bladestorm. His commitment and performance have proven to be a priceless asset to this organization and I think he would make a great leader as well.

I would also like to welcome Leon 'Zon' Kanderli. Welcome to the Sora family. Post a link to your quest here so we can name it claimed.

Starmare Manor, as a PG spoil has been approved and now only needs to be put past a moderator to make it official.

This is all awesom awesome and awesome. Welcome Tranquil to the House of Sora, thank you Streak for informing us on a Fleeting Desire, and thank you Abenaki for completing the Terranus Defection. I hope someone else can play with you next time. Speaking of completing stuff, Alberdyne and I have a quest in Corone called The Day Radasanth Sank. It's my first quest here on Althanas, and it marks the House of Sora's entrance into the Featured Quest events.

I'm working on the last post right now, but I need to know from the following people if I can bunny you a little bit.

I'm all up for helping with anything considering the PT too. It'll help me officially establish a position in the House of Sora.

The Architect
12-11-07, 08:35 PM
Okay then. If you're read the thread you know what the deal is. The seven of us need to make three setting posts each, with a two hundred word post limit. If you can do this PM each setting to me. If you can't let me know.

12-11-07, 08:50 PM

need to talk to you over AIM real quick again

Happy Birthday Streak!

streak101
12-11-07, 11:10 PM
lol thanks Ataraxis, at least someone noticed :p

Ataraxis
12-14-07, 12:57 PM
We're more like six, since Seline and Aerys are the same person. I just have one more major exam until I can breathe again, but I might still be able to do something for the PT this weekend.

Otherwise, any of you new people want in on some archeological/occult action? If you do, join in the Myth of the Foinse Saoil (http://althanas.com/world/showthread.php?p=93990#post93990)! If we're enough, I might just decide to become a full participant instead of a cameo, to smooth things along a little. Mysteries, sightings of unknown entities in the swamps, a midnight sky tainted blue, life striving where all was dead! What more can you ask for! =p

And if not this quest, there are quite a bunch on the mission board, notably the three extremely important Ressource Missions that are available. Throw your name into the pot, and you might be pleasantly surprised!

Fleeting Desire is almost done! Everyone has about till Sunday to write their last posts if they don't then i'm closing the thread and sumbmitting it for judging!

I'd like to applaud Valanthe/Xos for keeping the thread alive and Seline who had left but jumped back in when Valanthe had gone inactive! :p

Jeez, you'd think I could make people feel a little better:rolleyes:

The Architect
12-15-07, 04:17 PM
That's awesome Streak. The Day Radasanth Sank has come to a close as well. I just have one more post to put down and that will be that.
Position Opening
We have an opening. The Valkyrie is no longer able to fulfill her requirements as head of Lodge Diviyoni, and has decided to resign. The head of the House's Diplomacy division must be able to create missions that further the House's cause to progress world civilization through diplomatic means.

Ataraxis
12-16-07, 10:07 AM
Hey Dan, you're free to join any of the quests and use it as an initiation. You can work your recruitment into the backstory, that's how the others did it, I think.

Interested in any? It'd be great if you could get in on the Myth.

streak101
12-16-07, 02:50 PM
and FD is submitted for judging!

@ Boss: You might wanna add a link to the hustle mission on the first page.

BIG ANNOUNCEMENT - We will no longer accept money for admission. Players who wish to join must take on a quest in the Missions section.

The Crystalline Plantation resource mission :D

The Architect

That is great! That's the main Resource Mission we need! You don't have to finish it before New Years, but the sooner the better. I also need to speak to you guys about that.

Secret Project
I need to speak to a few of you on aim so we can coordinate efforts for the House of Sora's secret project. Trust me when I say this is BIG. Alberdyne, Ataraxis, Rajani Aishwara, and Streak, let me know when I can see you online.

That, in honesty, depends on when it starts, if it hasn't started already. I'm in a number of threads as it is right now, and I don't want to burn myself out when I'm actually active again.

Wow streak, thanks for taking up a ressource mission! It's looking good!

And the Myth has already begun, so it might not be the best for you if you're trying to avoid a burnout. When do you think your quest backlog will lighten up?
