Gol’Bron: the Cult of the Thayne

As always, one thing leads to another. Those gathered together in the name of the Thayne have become something more than the simple and crude matter of the physical body, and transcended into a world not of their own. The Book of Thayne, containing secrets locked away for millenia, has become a focal point of their study. Wars of the flesh no longer concern them. Wars in the heavens, however, are something completely different. The Gol'bron have sought a greater understanding of all things divine, and where this lust for understanding takes them, only Jomil knows. The Red Hand has evolved into something more, something greater than what it had once been before. With the discovery of its new purpose, and with a few tradesmen willing for greater understanding of the world around them, the "Hand That Guides" has stepped into its true calling: to investigate and appease the divine will of the Thayne.

The Red Hand is said to still exist, although elusive as ever, it still exerts a measure of economic influence from its hidden fortress "under the mountain:" Pandemonium's Fist. Membership is, and has always been anonymous except to those leading the organization to coordinate production efforts.

To be considered for membership in the Cult of the Thayne, one must adhere to the following criteria...

1 Respect every member of Althanas's right to have fun. This means playing by the rules, both IC and OOCly.

2 The council of Avatars must also be actively involved in Red Hand interests, to ensure solidarity in leadership.

3 Every non-Red Hand member must have a patron Thayne/Lesser Thayne - this is the "symbol" of membership. Red Hand members's symbol is their utter lack of one in order to maintain their anonymity.

4 All inactive members that haven't informed us of absence will be spanked, then removed at the council's sole discretion.

5 Members MUST either submit new (relevant) content for the Book of Thayne, or work on a quest concerning it.

6 You -may- pick N'jal as a patron, though you will immediately be labeled a heretic. It might be best to keep that private.

The Red Hand hasn't listed its rules for the public since it was first created, and it intends to stay this way.

Membership

Membership for the Cult is open to any who are willing to give themselves over to the will and sway of the Thayne. Once joined, each member must choose a deity, a patron. They must also choose an element they wish to be part of. The Cult itself is an element they can follow, working the will of the god or gods they choose as their patron deity. They can also choose to become part of one of the sub-sects, but must follow whatever the sect stands for.

Base of Operation

For years the Cult’s guise as a merchants group has been assisted by their control of a stronghold in the mountains of Corone. Pandemoniums Fist is a large cave like structure, filled with the equipment currently under the control of the Red Hand. It was a base of operations for the mining group of the Red Hand, and also allowed people to practice alchemy and blacksmithing. Currently, it is under the hand of the dwarves. Since the rise of the Cult, and the abandonment of the Fist, the dwarves moved in and assumed control of the mountain for its abundant supply of mineral ore.

Sub-sects of the Cult

The Red Hand – the original front of the cult was in the form of a merchant and traders guild focused mostly on personal gain. The clans face was powerful, holding sway over the merchants of Radasanth at one point. But the group was not powerful enough to stand alone, to be the façade for the Gol’Bron. In its wake another was created, the Black Hand. However, the Red Hand remained strong, always in the background, always gathering funds for the true Cult.
The Black Hand – a secondary sect that was created over the years, the Black Hand consisted of the militaristic strength that protected the Red Hand. Though the sect was short-lived before the Cult of the Thayne was finally given away, the small group had potential. It is, for that reason, that it will be brought back as a sub-sect, utilized for the greater good. It is hoped, however, that the militaristic force will not obstruct the goal of the Thayne, nor the profit of the merchants.

Pandemoniums Fist (http://geocities.com/infacreep/stock) -- current stockpile of arms, equipment, and miscellaneous gear. I have no talked to Ithy about it's use yet, so as far as I am concerned, what is not currently lent out to a previous member is not usable and is locked in the Fist. A quest series will be taken up to retrieve it and the stronghold at one point.

((I would also like to put up 1000 of Ranger's gold towards the vault, and we shall work from there...))
