Name: Aimey Rose Duncan
Age: 14
Race: Human
Hair Color: Blonde
Eye Color: Brown
Height: 5'1"
Weight: 113 lbs.
Personality: Aimey is blessed with the carefree and unfazeable nature of a teenager. Responsibilities are few, and adventures are many.
Appearance: She wears a cream-colored peasant dress, and patchwork leather sandals.
History: The houses of Duncan and Rhysbane were closely-knit business partners for over 13 generations on the island of Corone. The Duncans were the primary animal groomers to the Barony of Yarborough, and supplied everything from oxen for the lumberjacks in Underwood to royal centaur mounts for the Corone Rangers in Radasanth. The Rhysbanes were the primary animal trainers for the Duncan establishment. Being part human, and part animal themsleves, the centaurs assured that the animals were treated humanely, and tempered into loyal, disciplined creatures.
But the partnership ended tragically 10 years ago.
A fire started somewhere in the primary stablehouse. And that fire spread to the other stables. And to the main house. And past the main gates of the Duncan estate. And into the Rhysbane estate. And so on. And so forth.
So devastating and instantaneous was the fire, that nearly all of the Duncans and Rhysbanes were incinerated. Foul play was immediately suspected. Inspectors from all four Baronies, and a quorum of the Ministry were sent to investigate the cause of the fire. To this day, no official word has been given as to the cause of the fire.
The locals tell tales of how the Druids and Y’edda grew angry at the unnatural alliance between man and beast, and cast their vengeance against the two houses. Other stories tell of the animals, themselves, rising up to destroy the humans and half-breeds under the influence of the demon hordes.
Whatever the cause, the affect has been devastating. The value of pack beasts and riding animals skyrocketed in the years immediately following the fire, as people were forced to import from other islands. The government tempted groomers and handlers from all over the world to settle in Corone with offers of cheap land and government subsidies. Unfortunately, it worked too well.
Supply has risen exponentially. Animal prices have dropped. But lack of quality and the absence of humanity are some of the terrible side effects of the rapid growth. Beasts are no longer raised with care and respect. They are routinely abused and slaughtered. It's considered 'bad luck' to employ a centaur as a mount. Even the Rangers have reverted back to riding draft horses.
To this day, no one really knows how many Duncans and Rhysbanes survived the firestorm.
No one except Aimey and Colewyn, that is.
Skills: Aimey has been taught how to hunt, gather, and prepare food and herbs from the forest, how to play the lute and drum, how to handle a staff and club, and how to 'dirty' brawl using her hands and feet (and teeth!). She is proficient at reading and writing in her native language, and knows how to attend and address different persons in a courtly setting.
Equipment: A leather satchel that contains: healing herbs, a paring knife, gauze, and several books of fantasy and fancy.
Familiars: Colewyn Rhysbane is Aimey's guardian and, by station and training, her personal mount. His stats are as follows:
Age: 57
Race: Centaur
Hair Color: black/brown/gray
Eye Color: brown
Height 8'3"
Weight: 1200+ lbs.
Personality: Deep down, Colewyn has the same wild, untamed soul that every centaur is born with. But, on the outside, he is the personification of refined gentry.
Appearance: Colewyn's human half is chiseled, tan, and looks to be somewhere in its fourties. His face is bearded, and his hair braided down to the middle of his back. His horsen half is marbled gray-brown, with a midnight black tail.
Skills: Colewyn has taught Aimey all of her skills. In addition to those, he is proficient with bows, swords, slings, and spears. He is innately empathic with most forest creatures. Lastly, Colewyn is familiar with the heralds and family crests of most of the Coronian royalty.
Equipment: Two leather saddlebags that contain: bedrolls, healing herbs, teabags, gauze, a hunting knife, wineskins, and 3 personal diaries of the last inhabitants of the Duncan-Rhysbane stablery.
